Chapter 129 - 129: A Bit Abnormal
Aria Jackson was Suzanne Saunders’s partner, but how could Purple Summers know Aria Jackson?
Purple Summers was just about to make up an excuse to fob the question off when she realized that she would probably have to regularly contact Aria Jackson in the future. If she hid this every time, it would be inconvenient. It would be better to deal with her openly.
“Didn’t you know? I used to be a bad girl, frequently visiting the police station,” she said, her eyes curving with a mocking smile. “In order to guide me on the right path, Officer Jackson showered me with care, and we’ve maintained a good relationship.”
Nathaniel Summers gazed at her for a moment, saying, “Is that so.”
He took a puff of his cigarette, and let out the smoke. His facial features were blurred by the blue smoke, making his expression inscrutable.
Purple Summers was feeling annoyed and was about to leave when she heard Nathaniel Summers ask, “It seems you know a lot about Suzanne Saunders’ affairs?”
She turned her face away and coldly replied, “Not much, but also not too little, most of it was told to me by Officer Jackson.”
Nathaniel Summers stared at her, “Aria Jackson is nearly a decade older than you, yet she seems to share everything with you.”
Purple Summers kept her face unchanged, “Yes, once people resonate, regardless of the age gap, they can become kindred spirits. But if they don’t resonate, even if they live under the same roof, they can’t get close.”
Her words were intentionally sharp.
Nathaniel Summers kept his face somber, a layer of gloom gathering in his profound eyes.
Purple Summers didn’t care.
She had thought that Nathaniel Summers might become suspicious.
They’ve known each other for five years, lived together for one year, knew each other very well, and it would not be surprising if he noticed something.
But what about that? After all, he had no proof.
Even if Nathaniel Summers really recognized her, she wasn’t scared, she could just take on the attitude of a legitimate wife and scold him and Jade Carlson!
The most difficult part would most likely be the aftermath…
Nathaniel Summers was silent for a while, his emotions collected, saying, “There will be a banquet at home in a few days, you and Aunt Atra should come too.”
“I don’t have time, am not interested, and my mother probably won’t want to go either.” Purple Summers stretched up the corners of her mouth showing a smile, “You guys just have fun by yourselves.”
She waved her hand, not looking at him again, directly walking past him.
Watching her leave, Nathaniel Summers’ gaze rested on her figure.
She was wearing a light blue dress today, revealing her slender and fair legs. The dress swayed as she walked, making her steps seem particularly light.
Nathaniel Summers took another puff of his cigarette, the smoke instantly blurring his vision.
He felt that he was a little abnormal.
He threw the cigarette butt on the ground, crushed it, as if he wanted to shatter the tiny bit of affectionate thoughts that were about to spurt out along with it.
When Purple Summers returned to the townhouse, she noticed that Atra Blanc was not at home.
There were several packages piled up in the living room, the recipient’s name on all of them was hers.
At first, Purple Summers was confused, after pondering for a while she remembered, these were the bird care supplies she ordered online.
Receiving packages was something to be happy about. Purple Summers soon forgot about her unpleasant encounter with Nathaniel Summers and took out a pair of scissors to open the packages.
She placed the crow, package and all, on the sofa.
“Food, a spill-proof food bowl, an automatic water feeder, a bath tub… Ah, and this one!”
Purple Summers took them out one by one, finally taking out several tree branches, “This one is the most amazing, branches from a dragon eye parasol tree, evenly thick, flexible, the surface slightly coarse, perfect for claw and beak grinding, do you like it, little crow?”
The crow’s beady eyes were sparkling, silently staring at her.
If it weren’t for the crow’s singing that startled her earlier, Purple Summers would have thought that this bird is mute.
“However, this branch must be assembled before it can be used, um, where’s the instruction manual… I need to figure this out…”
Purple Summers was engrossed in reading the instructions.
At this moment, a faint crash sound reached her ears.
Purple Summers looked up to see a small metal piece springing onto the floor.
Huh…
Why did it look so familiar? Where did this metal piece come from?
She thought for a moment, then suddenly realized something, her blood cooling…
Purple Summers turned her head with great difficulty, seeing the python’s round head slowly stick out of the cage—
