Vol. 7 - Chapter 367 - Transfer Request from
Also, Misato, why the heck are your eyes sparkling seeing that?
My ears even seem to catch some words like 'Mert-sama is so tiny, so cute'...... I think my weariness is getting the better of me.
"If you don't mind, may I know the reason?"
Dais asked from Mert.
"I just said it, that's too cheap of an offer. You should prepare at least 3 billion Mir before even coming to negotiation, any discussion comes after that.”
"Ga… 3 billion Mir?"
A bewildered look crossed Daise's face hearing Mert's reply.
Well, 3 billion Mir is indeed not a small sum, so such a reaction was to be expected. It was a sum way out of league for students, the only one who could shill that much was either production guild, or the handful of combat guilds.
But Mert wasn't quoting the price out of nowhere. As for the reason why—
"Let me explain, we had received a quest from the academy to deliver <Dungeon Carriage> not long ago and the reward for it was over 70,000QP. Now, you are asking for the actual recipe here. It would be a loss to sell any less than that."
"W—!… 70,000QP just for the manufacturing quest……"
Mert's reasoning wasn't enough to entail the full picture so I supplement.
Given the QP to Mir conversion rate, 70,000 QP would amount to 700 million Mir.
We were rewarded 70,000QP just for manufacturing a single carriage. So if they want to buy the actual recipe, the golden egg here, a price of 3 or 4 times of that was the minimum requirement. In fact, it could be even more, considering its rarity in the current world.
Well, I wouldn't put the fault on them either, though. It had been a direct request from Dean to us, ignoring the usual way the academy published them, so it was impossible for others to know about the quest content or its reward. After all, it was directly related to the academy's reputation, others may have found the reason to criticize for their incompetence, so the academy obviously will not reveal it.
Though we weren’t bound by the same cause. I mean, one look at the carriage and anyone worth their salt could guess to whom they requested for carriage after seeing it.
Leader of <White Saber> should have guessed it as well.
After hearing the explanation, they backed down without any fuss.
"Understood, I will convey the same to the parent guild. However I fear this discussion will end here. With the current state they are in, <Temple Saber> shouldn't have the minimum 3 billion Mir either."
I was surprised they didn't try to negotiate further, but then again, they must have already considered the possibility of rejection.
Nevertheless, <Temple Saber> seemed quite intent on acquiring <Carriage>. The main culprit behind their current predicament was them challenging <Beast King Gal-Tiger> for a <Duel> with the <Carriage> recipe as a stake, showing their intense desire for it.
According to my estimation, they must have been intending to challenge an advanced dungeon. If they managed to acquire a bunch of equipment from Advanced dungeon, that would indeed allow them to make a comeback in guild battle.
There was one recipe in the <Grand Library> if they don't mind non-fancy stuff. Should I tell them? The only downside was it looked like a rail car. Just thinking about the sight of a knight of an A-rank guild riding a rail car was...... yeah, it's better to let the recipe be hidden in the shadow realm.
"Actually, <White Saber> also has a request to make......"
Daise said, straightening himself.
Oh? Considering their previous request, I bet this must be their real motive.
On the other hand, Mert further squinted his eyes while looking up at the Daise. Did he not like his large stature?
Furthermore, my ears once again picked some words like 'envious Mert-sama is so cute' from behind… I really need to take some rest.
"Make it short."
Mert spoke with an even more brusque tone.
Though Daise didn't seem much interested in dragging things as well as he nodded.
"We are more or less sure our parent guild <Temple Saber> is going to drop to B-rank in the near future. So I would like to transfer a few of our member to <Eden> before any of them are dismissed."
"......Oh!?"
"The four behind me are smoldering in the subordinate guild because they only have mid-ranking jobs. But worry not, they are quite skilled. It's just once the parent guild dropped from their rank, the one to bear the consequence would undoubtedly be few of them whether they want or not. I heard some rumors that <Eden> might consider taking a few if there is anyone considering <Job Transfer>. These 4 intend to take <Job Transfer>. They had missed their chance to take <Interview> but if you don't mind, I was wondering if you can take them in. They can join any time."
I see, so <White Saber> judged that <Eden> was looking for the members after seeing the big interview session Misato had held a while ago for sub-guild and hence came to negotiate.
Well, well, this was a totally unexpected development.
I guess there's a first time for everything huh. But thinking about it again, it was a pretty normal act. The strange part in fact was that not a single guild approached for negotiation until now. As if they were stopped by something...... is it, or am I overthinking?
Speaking of, why were <White Saber> waiting for us in the dungeon of all places?
Strange... ack, I forget we were in the middle of conversation.
I shifted my gaze at the four members standing behind Dais.
"Hohoho---!"
Everyone was wearing similar plate armor, though they lacked helmets which exposed their faces. There were two boys and two girls, and two of them wore a <Shield and Horse Brooch>, the symbol of <Knight Baron> category.
The game had limited the number of <Knight Baron> a guild could recruit to five. As of now, there was only Ester with <Knight Baron> in <Eden>. So four more <Knight Baron> could be recruited. Hmm, but considering it's the reality, maybe there is no upper limit?
<Knight Baron> was one of the categories that possessed highly useful abilities for both dungeon exploration and guild battle. I always made sure to fill the spots with <Knight Baron> till their upper limit in the game.
Their unexpected appearance surprised me, but I was always ready to welcome <Knight Baron> with open arms!
So far, <Eden> has officially decided on the 6 people, while there were three strong contenders leading the fight for the remaining 4 spots. So basically, we still had 4 vacancies so as to speak.
I still would have to consult with Sierra and others if it was alright to scout members other than from the interview, though my experience says it shouldn't be a problem. It was a common occurrence to interview even those who didn't have any appointment.
I didn't get why in the world they were waiting for us in the dungeon, but such a gift eclipsed even such a thousand visits!
"I apologize for bringing this up out of nowhere. If you have any questions about their skills, you can test them another day."
"Understood. Then, your <Smartphone> ID please."
"---! I owe you one!"
When I agreed, Daise deeply bowed his head instantly.
I guess he must have been fretting internally if we would even accept or listen to their proposal.
Though, when he bowed his head with impressive vigor, an intense Fwoosh sound echoed, like a fighter jet taking off, and hearing which, Mert pulled a striking scowl on his face.
It was something I heard from Misato later, apparently Mert couldn't make such a sound even when he tried to bow his head, which caused him to sulk. No seriously, why was he channeling his competitive spirit in such a strange direction? I really want to know, but I decided not to.
I think it should be one of those sensitive aspects for boys.
Anyway, with the talk now concluded, we exchanged ID's and left the place.
Mert kept watching Daise with an intense glare to the end.
"Geez, I am sure Mert-sama will grow taller in no time. Let's eat some fish, calcium will help for growth."
"You're being a busybody, Misato! Also, I am eating fish just because I am in the mood to. I didn't choose calcium with height concerns in mind at all."
Such voices were heard in the cafeteria.
O' Great Misato, please, just let him be.
