Chapter 115 - You Have Dulled Out
**********
CHAPTER 115
Upon seeing the symbol on her black shades, he quickly stood up and bowed his head lightly to her so as not to attract any attention towards them.
"Welcome. This way please."
That was all the guy had said and both of them made their way to the inner chamber at the corner of the counter.
As soon as she entered, she saw a demarcation with a curtain, separating the big office into two rooms. He took Jade past the curtain, leaving the first office to the second one.
It was a small shop office but the way and manner in which the inner room was structured made one think it was something else entirely.
When they entered the second office, Jade looked up and saw a CCTV camera but on closer inspection she saw that it wasn't a camera but a scanner to identify who the person entering was.
All it needed was a look at the head and eye of the person enterin and it could identify if you were one of them.
"Lady Frost."
Just before the scanner could say anything else like heiress to the Frost empire, Jade said something for the machine to keep shut. "Codec red."
"Access granted. Welcome ma'am."
Instantly, Jade vision dulled for a moment as what was shown in front of her looked like a spoilt TV screen and before she knew it, a black door appeared in front of her, suddenly becoming visible.
Jade turned the door knob and walked in with the young boy following behind her. As soon as she entered, she caught sight of Arctic seating on one of the chairs in the big office with his back to her.
A small smile appeared on her lips first before she quickly recalled that the young boy was still there and shoes him away. "Thanks."
He nodded at her and walked out of the office leaving the two of them alone.
"You are two minutes late, Jade."
'Technically, I am a minute and fifty-five seconds late, teacher."
"Always accurate and porecise."
"I am a finance lady after all. Accuracy is my passion."
"Happy to hear that, meaning you haven't dulled out,' Arctic complimented her.
"Pff, dulled? I can handle a dozen of men in two minutes and they would be sprawled out on the ground."
"And I?"
"You are still sensei. I cannot.."
"Nonsense."
'But Arctic, you know…"
"Think fast."
'What?" Just before she could think of what was happening or about happening…
SWOOSH!
Bloody hell!
Arctic instantly stood up on his feet and attacked her, swinging a sword at her.
"Hey." Jade yeled as she managed to dodge the incoming attack and took a astep back.
"No time to talk. If it was a life and death situation, you would have been dead due to your unpreparedness."
"Tsk, you wish." Her eyes dimmed, creating a dull effect and a scary one as at that. She took her stance, prepared for whatever move he was going to throw next at her.
"Bring it on, girl." After saying that he attacked her again.
It wasn't really a fair fight considering Jade had no weapon. Nevertheless, she quickly made herself pone.
Through dodging and avoiding his attacks while still throwing her own moves and attack at him, she managed to reach for a statue by the wall and snatched his wooden fake sword.
Even though it wasn't the best, it was still something and in the hand of a real fighter, it was a weapon, be it wood or real.
Now she had the range advantage and her attacks became vicious and fierce, not giving Arctic room for escape.
SWOOSH!
Jade ducked and charged forward, allowing Arctic to draw her in. Just when he felt he had her where he wanted her and was about attacking, she turned to the side and did a back flip, creating a small distance between and sliding down in a split to swing her sword at his leg.
He had least expected she would do that and what was worse was that she did that in a great speed.
So everything was rushed and if not for his years of experience, he would have fallen victim of her plan. Slightly he managed to escape just in time and moved away from the dangerous Jade.
After about three minutes, Jade emerged the winner of the match with her wooden sword pointed at Arctic's throat.
"Fine! I surrender. You win."
"I know, right? Hahhaa…"
"I told you, you can do it. You can surpass even me."
"I simply wanted to prove top you that I haven't dulled. I still practice to hone my skills."
"That is great, Jade, but then again you still dulled out."
"What?" She was taken aback by what he said. Slowly she followed the line of his sight and saw that he was looking at her feet.
Unfortunately for her, she was standing on her toes and could easily be toppled over from the way she stood especially when she looked carefully and saw that Arctic had one of his foot very close to her left toe.
All he had to do was raise his leg and kick at her toes then she would have toppled.
So on a closer look, she didn't pay attention very much. Her goal to win which was driven by her anger at being told that she had dulled out did in fact cause her to increase her speed which was of course good.
Nevertheless, Arctic had not taught her to fight from anger or let it rule her thinking as it would make her make mistakes just like now that she left herself wide open.
Both of them smiled to each other and withdrew, letting their swords fall to their side and before long they burst into laughter.
"Hahhaa…"
"You got me there."
"Now you understand what I meant by you have dulled out?"
"Yes," Jade replied him sincerely and politely.
"I need you to always be at your best, Jade. Now you know your father's message and you have to be on the lookout. For him to have that carefully encrypted meaning it is something very important and dangerous."
"Yes sir. Duly noted."
"Now, come and tell me what is getting you distracted?"
Her smile widened. He definitely knew her for him to be able to tell that she had dulled out a bit and also that she was distracted.
"And do not tell me it is your parents because to me, you seem to be doing well."
"Perfect then, so you know I am not distracted whatsoever," Jade quickly tried to end the discussion.
"Do not evade my question Jade. What has gotten you distracted since?"
"Well nothing. Just being busy with work and getting news about the Anders whenever I can," Jade half lied. She did not want to let him know that herself and Xander were now an item and what was worse was the drawing she found in his house and his tattoo.
Yes there wasn't really much to it but she could not shake that feeling she felt when she gazed upon the big portrait of the dragon.
It looked like it was alive and that had further strengthened her resolve to find the connection between Xander and the Anders especially why he was appearing in odd places at odd times.
"You have been stubborn. I thought I warned you to let the issue rest and that I would be the one who should and would handle the issue?"
"Yes you did but if you know me well you would know that I cannot and would not listen."
"You are as stubborn as your father or if not worse."
"I would take that as a compliment sensei."
"Choose what you must. Anyways, how about that your new admirer/"
"What about him? I told you, he is just a business partner."
"Yes, I agree. A business partner that is clearly into you." A knowing smile formed on his lips as he watched her from the corners of his eyes to see her reaction.
Being the trained mule that she was, Jade gave off nothing to indicate there was actually an attraction and something deep going on with Xander and herself.
"Stubborn child. Tsk, I guess I trained you all too well that reading you has now become an impossible situation. Nevertheless, I would find out what I need to."
"Well, please do."
'Okay, any leads as to what your father or whom your father meant?"
Jade gave it a tjhpought for some time. She was contemplating inj her mind if she should mention what she saw to Arctic or not. She new that hiding it and having him finding out later would get him mad at her.
Regardless, she had to choose between her love life or her revenge.
"Umm… thinking aout it now, I do not think so. No. No lead for now, but I would try and get some hint form my friend."
"No. Do not involve anyone. I would do it myself. You relax."
