Chapter 131 On The Stage, Part 1

Being able to stand out on the Student Executive Board of Harvard, it already guarantees that her future will not be small. If she joined a political party, becoming a congresswoman should be something she could reach out for, even striking in comparison to the other members, so not to mention the students, even the teachers marveled at her.

The average woman like Isabel has a past like hers.

After finishing speaking, the headmaster handed his microphone to the woman.

The latter had an elegant demeanor as she accepted the microphone. She then stepped towards the podium.

She didn\'t speak immediately, but took out a pair of glasses from the bag she was carrying, looking like she was suffering from farsighted due to only wearing glasses now.

There was a pile of papers on the podium which contained the data of the students who would be going up to the stage.

She read through them one by one quite quickly, as if she could instantly comprehend all the information in no time.

Some students may catch her attention because she takes longer to read through their data.

After a while, she glanced down at the students below the stage.

"Let\'s start," she said softly and a little smile on her rather thin lips.

The students, especially the participants immediately showed serious expressions.

"Firstly, Leo and Dylan, please come on stage," she said.

One of them turned out to be Cale\'s friend. The tall man immediately stood up when his name was called. After nodding to the other students, he immediately went to the stage.

His opponent was a bespectacled man, looking like a geek but looking very confident.

Even though Leo, in terms of appearance, was more suitable to join Alex\'s gang so that other students easily scared him, but Dylan didn\'t seem to care about that. Seemed like he really believed that being good at school meant excelling at everything. Maybe he wasn\'t scared even in front of Alex either.

Too bad he didn\'t come to class today. Together with his gang, he is still hospitalized.

Actually, there was an invitation to visit them this afternoon.

On stage, Leo and Dylan went to two opposite tables, they took out a folded piece of paper from their pocket and took the microphone on the table before looking at Isla, waiting for her to speak.

The woman observed each of them for a bit before opening her mouth. "Do you have a dream, what kind of job do you want?"

The two students nodded. Dylan replied, "I hope to continue my studies up to the doctoral level and then get a professorship."

As for Leo, he glanced at Dylan because of his answer. It seemed that the man\'s ambition was too big in his eyes that he was a little hesitant to say his dream.

However, with so many people staring at him, it was impossible for him not to speak. After taking a deep breath, he said, "I\'ve always wanted to work for some of the top companies in town, earn a good salary, have insurance on every front, and I hope to reach the position of director when I\'m in my late 30s."

Hearing the two students\' answers, Isla\'s lips curved up slightly for a moment.

Others don\'t see it and those who do see it don\'t understand what it means.

That didn\'t apply to Arthur with his keen observation.

Everything was clear in his eyes. Coupled with his memory of the various types of smiles, he guessed there were some sort of disdainful thoughts the woman had towards the two students.

Of course, he couldn\'t immediately deduce what kind of person she was, as to why would she belittle their ideals?

Was she a proud woman with big ambitions that small ones were nothing in her eyes? Or for something else?

It didn\'t really matter because every human had their own thoughts and those who excel had their own complicated thoughts.

"Okay, now I want to hear what you guys think about our current education system, you first!" She pointed her hand at Leo.

The latter seemed to have guessed the question, he stared at the paper he was carrying before starting to speak. "I would say that I prefer the relaxed learning concept..."

The discussion between the two students did not get too heated because even though they had different dreams, the way they saw things tended to be the same. Overall, they praised the current European system, considering it a very good system and one that other countries should emulate.

Only, Isla, despite continuing to stare and listen to their words, her expression barely changed at all.

This wasn\'t to say she belittled their opinion, but perhaps it was too cliche for her.

Of course, there\'s no one to blame about this. Maybe in a class or school, there are always one or two people who are superior, but that doesn\'t mean they are special.

Take every one of them to a top university and they will soon become ordinary students who don\'t stand out at all.

Until the end of the discussion, no praise came out of Isla\'s mouth.

She only gave a brief but quite meaningful opinion. "As Gen-Z, you should start learning to criticize things that you think are true, find faults so you can create new ideas."

Oddly enough, she stared at the teachers as she said that causing their faces to twitch even though at first they wanted to nod in agreement to her words. They felt like she was adding, "don\'t be like them!"

Of course, they were confused as to what she meant to say. Was she saying they were a bunch of uncritical bigots?

But how is that possible? They are liberal people who uphold freedom. Arguing and giving criticism is something they always do.

In fact, some of today\'s young cynics think that the old only made freedom a symbol, something they fancied.

They may be very critical, but that never goes beyond what is called freedom.

And whatever is associated with freedom they will always think is right.

If they were told to go to war in the name of freedom for example, they would not hesitate to do so, believing they were doing the right thing.

For some, this is no different from past people fighting for their own ideology.

That is not the true way of freedom because freedom is supposed to find a way to avoid bad things, at least for oneself.

The conclusion is; today\'s freedom still has too many loopholes for the elites to manipulate people for their own ambitions. Isla was probably one that was dissatisfied with that.
