Chapter 78 - 78 I Won’t Kill Them
They had their roots in Lengshui Village, and there was no way they would risk gambling with that.
The clan head mumbled gibberish for a few seconds and could not say anything while the villagers agreed with the village chief.
“The chief is right! You guys never reflected on your own actions and kept pestering Chuchu! Who knows what you lot will do next?”
“It’s not the first time Zhao Xing got into such troubles. Everyone also knows that he tried to rob the Xie clan that night! You’ll have to come up with a better lie than that. Do you really expect us to believe that Xie Heng and Chuchu begged Zhao Xing to visit them at night?”
“Nah. The Zhao clan is corrupted to the root. They’re ungrateful bastards. If not for Chuchu, almost all of them would’ve been dead by now. Do you still not understand why she asked for payments?”
The Zhao clan got scolded so hard that none of them could speak up for themselves.
“Alright. That’s enough. Let’s head back home. If Zhao Xing really did what the officers said, no one would ever want to marry their daughters to the Zhao clan. Heck. After that, no man would even want to marry a girl from the Zhao clan.”
Niu Tongsheng chased the villagers away and glared at the clan head.
The clan head was infuriated. He wanted to yell back, but the pain was too much for him to handle when he opened his mouth.
The village chief didn’t want anything to do with the Zhao clan anymore and left as well.
Recalling that Zhao Xing returned extremely late that night, Niu Tongsheng could guess that Zhao Xing was really guilty of the crimes.
No matter how bad the imperial court was, the magistrate of Yuanjiang County was still a capable person and had never made a wrong judgment yet.
On the other hand, after heading into the mountain, Zhao Chuchu suddenly remembered that she had promised the medicine store owner that she would make a couple of ointments for him to sell and had yet to make them.
If she had known that she would regress to the past, she would’ve brought the type of ointment that had adhesive on them. She would’ve made a fortune selling them.
There were a lot of resources in the mountain, and it only took her a few minutes to gather what she needed.
After ensuring no one followed her in secret, she took a pack of chili chicken legs out of her carry-on space and munched on them.
She had been dying to eat them for a long time, and she happily enjoyed the spicy and sour food.
However, she was too immersed in her meal that she didn’t notice the tiger until it suddenly appeared in front of her. She choked on her food and almost couldn’t breathe.
The tiger glared at Zhao Chuchu and arched its body, ready to pounce at any moment.
Zhao Chuchu wasn’t happy anymore as her meal was ruined.
She put the chicken legs back into the space and stood up as she coughed.
The tiger pounced, but she didn’t move sideways.
Instead, she met the beast with her fist.
The tiger cried in pain and was sent flying back.
When it fell to the ground, it was already dead.
“I would never have to kill you if you didn’t come. Now, I get to harvest some free tiger skin.” The lady coldly scoffed.
If she remembered correctly, the tiger skin was worth a lot of money.
Zhao Chuchu took out a bottle of water, and after a few gulps, she finally felt better.
She put the bottle and the tiger into the space and decided to see if there was any wild boar she could hunt.
It was an excellent way to make extra money.
She gathered her energy and amplified her senses. It only took her a couple of seconds to detect a wild boar.
The lady immediately went to where the animal was, only to learn that it was a family of wild boars with younglings.
Zhao Chuchu looked at the animals and sighed. “Fine. I won’t kill them.”
Although she was already very deep into the mountain and didn’t manage to hunt a wild boar, she managed to find a herb that was necessary for Xie Jun’s recovery.
Zhao Chuchu was excited and quickly but carefully dug the herb up, only to find two more in the vicinity.
That meant that she had all the herbs she needed.
She found it worth getting choked by the chili now.
The lady then started heading back while humming.
When she was almost out of the mountain, she took the tiger out of the carry-on space and carried it on her shoulder.
When the Zhao clan saw that, they almost fainted.
