Chapter 87 - 87 I Was Lucky
It was because Gan Maosheng had suddenly come to visit her.
“Chuchu, why didn’t you come and say hi at the battalion? You should’ve told me that you’re coming to the city!” Gao Maosheng looked as if he was angry. “If my subordinate did not tell me that someone had sold a tiger to the Visitor’s Aroma and if I didn’t ask about it, I would never have known that you and Heng were here.”
Gao Maosheng was now treating Zhao Chuchu as his own granddaughter. Instead of addressing her as Mrs. Xie, he was now calling her first name.
“I wouldn’t want to trouble General Gan when you’re so busy,” Zhao Chuchu quickly explained.
!!
“What do you mean you don’t want to trouble me?” The general waved his hand. “If not for you, I would’ve been dead by now.”
When Xie Heng turned around, Gan Maosheng saw the white blindfold covering the young man’s eyes. He got worried and asked, “Heng, did something happen to your eyes?”
“I’m still looking for a way to see if I can cure his blindness,” Zhao Chuchu replied. “To be honest, I feel a little embarrassed to have the general visit me personally.”
“Come on. I’m sure you can cure him. You’re an excellent doctor, after all! Let’s not talk about this first. Since you guys are here, why don’t we get some breakfast at the Visitor’s Aroma?” Gan Maosheng grinned. “Heng, Chuchu, you two better not say no to this.”
“Then, we’ll gladly accept your generous invitation, General Gan.” Xie Heng bowed.
“You know what, calling me general all the time makes it sound like we’re strangers. Just call me Grandpa Gan from now on.”
“Okay, Grandpa Gan!” Zhao Chuchu gladly accepted that.
As Gao Maosheng had more than a thousand people serving under him, he was a very important person who held much power in Yuanjiang County.
“Let’s go. Hey, help carry Heng and Junjun.” Gan Maosheng turned to look at the two men who had followed him to the inn. The general then turned back and explained, “They are my grandsons. The older one is Gan Quan, and the younger one is Gan Lin.”
“Greetings, brothers!” Zhao Chuchu greeted them cheerfully.
“Greetings, sister…” The two greeted her with a hint of embarrassment in their voices.
“Let’s go.”
“It’s okay. I can walk on my own.” Xie Heng refused to have someone carry him.
“I can help him,” Zhao Chuchu added.
Xie Jun didn’t want to be carried either.
As for Niu An, he was a little restless.
The person with the highest position that he had ever met was the village chief.
It was too sudden for him to meet with the general. He didn’t even dare to gasp, but he was envious of Zhao Chuchu and Xie Heng, who were able to have a casual conversation with the general.
Gan Maosheng led Zhao Chuchu and her companions to the Visitor’s Aroma.
The owner personally served them.
He was surprised to see Zhao Chuchu arriving with the general. “Oh? Mr. and Mrs. Xie, I didn’t know that both of you are friends with General Gan.”
“Lin, I guess you don’t know about this yet.” Gan Maosheng chuckled. “Chuchu is the one who singlehandedly got rid of the plague in Yuanjiang County. Please tell me that you didn’t scam here yesterday.”
“She’s the one who saved our Yuanjiang County?” The owner gasped.
“It was lucky to have the cure for the plague,” Zhao Chuchu humbly explained. “Grandpa Gan, calling me the savior is a little exaggerating. The ones who saved Yuanjiang County are the government and the Weisuo.”
Gan Maosheng was happy to hear that, and the two grandsons’ impression of Zhao Chuchu had gotten even better after that.
“Of course not, Mrs. Xie. There’s no such thing as luck in getting rid of the plague. If you didn’t have any medical knowledge, having the cure wouldn’t do anything much. How about this? The breakfast is on me as thanks for saving our city!”
“Hey! You trying to pick a fight? I’m treating Heng and Chuchu today. Get in the line if you want to treat her too.” Gan Maosheng glared at the owner.
The owner burst into laughter. “Alright, alright! It’s your win. I’ll go have the kitchen prepare the meal right away. Please, enjoy yourselves.”
The owner then left.
Gan Maosheng turned to Xie heng and said, “That old fart is an old friend of mine. He’s very well known to be cunning when doing business. Thank God he didn’t scam you last night when you sold him the tiger.”
