Chapter 188 Beating A Ghost Jelly F*Sh
Bawang had been swimming for several nautical miles without stopping when suddenly Bawang came to a halt.
The image of what Bawang had just seen was etched deeply in its mind. He wasted no time in reporting to his master, Liu Yong,
"Master, I just saw a gigantic creature."
Liu Yong was taken aback. To think there was an even more giant and menacing creature than the Overlord! What could this creature be?
Bawang described, "It appears to be a massive jellyfish, with a canopy nearly 10 meters in diameter and countless long tentacles stretching over 100 meters in length."
Liu Yong's curiosity was piqued. Could this be a mutation?
"Overlord, let's swim over quietly and investigate," he ordered.
The Overlord had no choice but to comply with the master's command.
Despite feeling a sense of unease, Bawang held onto the giant spear and moved forward cautiously.
The Overlord knew that such a colossal jellyfish would likely be highly poisonous and did not want to risk getting stung.
After swimming carefully for several miles, the seabed, which had been relatively flat, began to tilt. As h continued moving forward, the angle of inclination gradually increased.
Looking at the situation from a third-party perspective, Liu Yong realized that there was a trench ahead. Trenches were standard in the Pacific Ocean, with the Mariana Trench being more than 10,000 meters deep.
However, the depth of this unnamed trench was unknown. The third-party field of vision centred on Bawang, allowing Liu Yong to see everything within a one-kilometre range. The channel was less than a kilometre wide and of unknown length and depth.
Although the depth of the trench was beyond the scope of one kilometre, Liu Yong could see a considerable ghost jellyfish more than 400 meters away from Bawang.
The ghost jellyfish was enormous, with a colourful and speckled canopy of around 10 meters in diameter. The surface of the shelter was shiny, as if coated with grease. Underneath the canopy were many long tentacles, each slightly thicker than a thumb, with a length generally exceeding 100 meters and a few even surpassing 150 meters.
The ghost jellyfish was not only giant but also highly poisonous. It had a large poison sac inside its canopy where all its toxins were concentrated. Its attack mainly relied on these long tentacles, making it a typical toxin attacker.
Liu Yong observed the ghost jellyfish for a while and marvelled at the magic of the ocean's depths. People really didn't know much about the sea. Who would believe such a vast jellyfish existed if they didn't see it with their own eyes?
Suddenly, the ghost jellyfish moved and headed towards Bawang.
Liu Yong immediately warned Bawang that it may have detected him. Bawang retreated but felt it was too embarrassing to escape. Liu Yong weighed his options, knowing that although the ghost jellyfish was tremendous and highly poisonous, it was slow.
Bawang, on the other hand, was not small and was incredibly fast, especially with his sprint skill, which allowed him to reach a distance of 200 meters in the blink of an eye.
Could Bawang give a fatal blow to the ghost jellyfish? While Liu Yong thought about his options, the ghost jellyfish seemed crazy, waving its many long tentacles and chasing after Bawang.
Bawang lost his temper and expressed his desire to fight the ghost jellyfish.
Liu Yong nodded in agreement, realizing that it would be futile to retreat blindly.
Instead, taking on the ghost jellyfish and facing it head-on was better.
"Yes, you should be careful and ensure your safety. Don't let its tentacles harm you," he advised.
With the approval of Liu Yong, the Overlord became invigorated with newfound confidence. Although they were still retreating, the Overlord was on the lookout for any openings or opportunities that may arise.
After travelling about two to three nautical miles, the ghost jellyfish was still hot on their heels. However, the Overlord noticed that the speed of the jellyfish remained the same. This was their chance.
Without hesitation, the Overlord quickly changed their strategy from retreating to attacking. With a sudden burst of speed, they managed to get above the ghost jellyfish, exposing its massive canopy.
The Overlord saw this as a golden opportunity and lunged forward with a giant spear aimed straight at the jellyfish's canopy.
The vast spear moved so fast that it was almost invisible to the naked eye. However, at the last second, the ghost jellyfish managed to dodge the attack and began to fight back with its long, menacing tentacles.
The Overlord quickly evaded the attack without risking getting caught by the jellyfish's tentacles. The jellyfish's tentacles missed the mark, and the Overlord was now at a safe distance of two to three hundred meters away.
With a calm demeanour, the Overlord waited patiently for the right moment to strike again. However, the ghost jellyfish had other plans. Without warning, it began to run for it, heading towards an unknown trench.
Liu Yong chuckled at the jellyfish's foolishness. "You know you can't win against the Overlord, yet you still try to escape. There's no way out for you now!"
Without Liu Yong's order, the Overlord sensed that the ghost jellyfish was attempting to flee.
Acting quickly, he pursued the creature, closing the distance between them.
Despite his eagerness to catch the jellyfish, he refrained from sprinting recklessly towards it, recognizing the danger posed by its tentacles. He knew that even being stabbed once or twice could be enough to cause serious harm.
The ghost jellyfish resembled a giant hedgehog, making launching an attack difficult for the Overlord. Pursuing it would be futile if he couldn't find a way to overcome its defences.
The tables had turned, as the jellyfish had previously followed the Overlord, but now he was chasing it leisurely.
After chasing the creature for several nautical miles, they reached an unnamed trench that appeared bottomless.
The jellyfish seemed to realize it could quickly escape and let down its defences, allowing it to flee desperately into the trench. However, the Overlord was much faster than the jellyfish and promptly closed in on it.
The jellyfish, in a panic, fled further without using its tentacles to defend itself. The Overlord seized the opportunity and made a direct hit, his spear piercing the jellyfish's canopy.
The giant spear penetrated several meters, releasing a spray of green matter.
The jellyfish died instantly, and its tentacles hung weakly, no longer waving.
The Overlord drew his spear out of the jellyfish's corpse, and it sank towards the bottom of the trench.
