Chapter 133 - 133: The Lu Family Came to Apologize
Xu Jiaojiao nearly spat out her drink.
Haha, so much for being siblings.
Qi Shenbai snorted softly, but he was satisfied. He lowered his head and swept his gentle gaze across her small face before turning around to go downstairs.
Xu Jiaojiao stood at the door, her clear eyes staring at his back with reluctance.
Xu Zhengyang walked over and poked her head with his fingertips. “Look at how useless you are. You’re a love-struck fool.”
Xu Jiaojiao slapped his hand away and scoffed, “If I remember correctly, someone almost fell to his knees just now, you spineless lackey!”
“What do you know?” Xu Zhengyang said seriously, “That’s not an ordinary trip. It’s a fifteen-day paid trip. Do you know how long it’s been since I’ve rested under that tyrant? Can you keep a leash on your boyfriend in the future? Even the donkeys in the production team have to rest!”
Xu Jiaojiao was speechless.
Forget it, forget it. She could not expect him to have any backbone.
After Xu Jiaojiao returned home, the house became a lot livelier. In the afternoon, Mr. Xu rushed to the hospital to bring Old Madam Qi home. The entire family celebrated the New Year.
When Old Madam Xu found out that Qi Shenbai had something on at home and could not spend the New Year here, she did not say much. Anyway, it was fine as long as her granddaughter was back.
Early in the morning on New Year’s Eve, the Xu family’s doorbell rang. The nanny, Aunt Xia, went to open the door. Then, she turned around and said, “It’s the Lu family. The entire family is here.”
Xu Jiaojiao’s expression froze from where she was chatting with her grandmother. At the thought of meeting the Lu Family, her mood immediately plummeted to rock bottom.
Grandma was the person who knew her best in the family. She nodded slightly at her. “Go back to your room. You can come out after they leave.”
Xu Jiaojiao nodded obediently. “Thank you, Grandma.”
“Let’s go.” Mrs. Xu watched her disappear down the stairs before nodding for Aunt Xia to open the door to welcome the guests.
When Mr. and Mrs. Xu found out that there were guests at home, they hurriedly walked out of the study and kitchen.
Lu Zhuo and his father were both carrying gifts in their hands while Lu Huan followed behind Zou Lan reluctantly.
“Oh, is Aunt Xu back too?” Lu Feng greeted them with a smile. “Hello, Zhiming, Fanghua.”
Xu Zhiming and Tian Fanghua nodded slightly in response.
When Lu Zhuo entered the room, he first scanned his surroundings. When he did not see Xu Jiaojiao, he greeted the Xu family.
“Take a seat,” Old Madam Xu said. “You don’t have to bring so many gifts next time you come. You’re too polite.”
“Isn’t it the new year? 1 brought you some tonics. Think of it as a token of sincerity from us juniors,” Lu Feng replied. The smile on his face was a little unnatural. “Other than visiting you today, I’m also here to solemnly apologize to Jiaojiao for Huanhuan’s previous mistakes. It’s our fault for not teaching our children properly. I’m really sorry.”
After saying that, he looked around and asked, “Is Jiaojiao not at home?”
Old Madam Xu replied nonchalantly, “You guys came at the wrong time. That child caught a cold and is still resting.”
In other words, she was not giving them a chance to apologize in person.
Lu Feng was stunned, but Zou Lan’s expression changed. She wanted to say something, but Lu Feng stopped her. “The temperature has been dropping drastically recently. These kids like to dress up on thinner clothing, so I’m not surprised.
Mrs. Xu smiled and did not reply.
Lu Feng turned to look at Lu Huan, who was standing at the side, and said solemnly, “Why are you still standing there? Hurry up and apologize to your Grandma Xu, as well as your Aunt and Uncle.”
Lu Huan clenched her fists tightly by her sides. She was extremely unwilling to apologize to Xu Jiaojiao. However, before she left, her father had already said that if she did not apologize today, he would not give her a single cent in the future.
Biting her lip, she put on the posture she had prepared beforehand and said obediently, “Grandma, Uncle, Auntie, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have framed Jiaojiao. I know I was wrong. 1 promise I won’t do it again.”
Old Madam Xu narrowed her eyes and sized her up, not in a hurry to speak.
Xu Zhiming and Tian Fanghua looked at each other. Seeing that the matriarch did not say anything, they were naturally not going to interruprt.
Lu Huan kept bowing. She did not dare to straighten her back as long as the old lady refused to forgive her.
She could feel everyone’s gazes on her, mocking her. Sh guessed Xu Jiaojiao was hiding in a corner, watching as she apologized to her humbly. For a moment, she felt aggrieved and humiliated, and tears uncontrollably fell from her eyes.
When Zou Lan saw that her daughter was crying, her heart ached so much that she could not sit still anymore. She immediately stood up and pleaded for her, “Huanhuan is still a child. She was just impulsive.. Moreover, she knows her
mistake now and promises that she won’t do it again…”
