Chapter 72 Being A CEO Is Maintaining A Handsome Face
************
CHAPTER 72
Mo Feng Yi very much detested Andromeda after what transpired but even when she had left, she couldn't hold back the unstoppable chills running down her spine.
It took her several minutes to fully recover from the tension as she took a deep calm breath, leaving the restroom afterward as she tried her best to get off the eerie vibe.
On the other hand, Andromeda quickly exited the restroom before going to meet Liu Xueyi in an attempt to avoid getting him suspicious.
True enough, he was already starting to wonder why she wasn't back yet when she finally braced him with her presence.
"I am sorry, I just played a bit with the water while in there." She quickly explained, knowing the question to that answer was what would escape his mouth the moment she showed up.
"Is that so?" His brows raised, as though he was asking a silent question but Xueyi did not utter one word to the question riveting in his head as he brushed it off instead.
"Okay. If you want to order anything else, please go ahead and do so."
"No need." Andromeda politely declined, "I am pretty fine with the meal we just had."
"Alright then."
"We should probably head back to the company now if there is nothing more," she initiated.
"Okay." He wiped his lip gently with a clean napkin. Apparently, he got the waiter to get him one.
"I placed an order for cakes for you, with chocolates. It would help you in whatever way it can when you are working."
She smiled appreciatively at his thoughtfulness then gave her thanks. Within two minutes, the waiter returned with his card and the wrapped-up cakes and chocolate.
"Thank you, sir," he greeted with a bow.
Liu Xueyi only gave a slight nod as his only answer before standing up on his own two feet. "Shall we?"
"Yes."
Since it was still quite early, Liu Xueyi wanted for her to close for the day and relax after her episode with Mo Feng Yi.
He did not need a second telling that perhaps those two might have had a confrontation of some sorts and he was glad to say the least that Andromeda came out smiling.
Although he wasn't really sure if she was faking it to ease his worry or not, but knowing her, she would by all means not want to take the work break so he made a different plan.
They were in his car, driving back to the company when he broke the silence. "I want you to go home and call it a day," he began.
The only answer he got from her however, was a confused look marrying her beautiful face.
"You are stressed out, Andromeda." He explained further, "You need rest," he noted, facing the road again.
"I am fine," she blurted out without thinking.
"I know, but it's my call not yours. I don't want you overworking yourself. If not, what kind of boss would I be? I don't want to be pictured as the CEO who does not take care of his employees."
"Just that?" She sounded half annoyed by it but could only tsk and lean her elbow on the car door, while supporting her head with her hand.
She didn't know why his response didn't really fit in with her, maybe because she wanted to hear more than just that?
"What are you trying to say – that I am not caring?"
"Your words, not mine," she countered back.
"I think the last time you made me take a break in the middle of the road, you know what happened, right?"
Her eyes widened when she realized what he was going on about. "Now that would be you being shameless and naughty," she voiced out.
"I like being naughty. So long as it's with you," he added with a slight smirk that was barely noticeable.
If Andromeda was the one driving, she would have stepped hard on the brakes from the words which dared to escape from his lips.
Cough! Cough!
Rather she went into a coughing spree. He chuckled lightly for having caught her off guard that way while focusing on his driving.
"Anyways, I knew you would be stubborn. So, I made a few adjustments, just in case."
She kneaded her brows in confusion while narrowing her eyes in suspicion at his statement, something told her she was not going to like his meddling.
"I am your boss. Be rest assured, I will always do what is best for you. You are closing on time today and I will take you home. Is that understood?"
She opened her lips to speak when he suddenly uttered.
"What? Do you want to jump the bus again? I know you did not come with a car."
Andromeda nearly forgot about the words she wanted to say due to his statement, but she was unwilling to keep mute either.
"Why do you say it like it is a bad thing?" She argued, "In fact, bus jumping gives me more ideas. Judging from the expressions on people's faces, their style and trend, I can picture something else better for them."
It was a nicer way she saw and witnessed the lives of others. "It is crowded but a nice way to still think and flesh out my ideas," she added.
"I see. Fine then. I never thought it was a bad thing but I am skeptical when people touch me."
"Like this?" She intentionally placed her left hand on his arm to witness his reaction.
That familiar, yet harmless smile naturally formed itself on her lips again like the ones she had on her lips when he kissed her in her sleep.
Her eyes held a glint of humour, still waiting to see if he would react or not.
A slow smile spread over his mouth and into his eyes as her touch only sent a warm needy feeling inside of him. "That does not apply to you, Andy. I would jump the bus with you today."
Shocked, she withdrew her hand while staring at him wide-eyed, wondering if this was the same boss she knew or if he took some medicine that caused him to act like this.
She did not know why but he seemed to want to please her today and she found that strange and suspicious.
He let out a husky laugh instantly and drove off without satisfying her questionable gaze.
As soon as they arrived at the company, he had her highlight but did not come down too.
"Huh, aren't you coming back?" She asked, noticing he was still comfortably seated on the driver's seat.
"Nope. I am going to take the day off," he smiled, letting out a wink. "I think I need it, don't you think so?"
"What have you been doing that you unexpectedly need a day off?" She muttered.
"I heard that, Andromeda." He shot his gaze at her. "Unlike you, being a CEO in charge of a big company takes more work than you think."
She almost felt guilty for saying that the moment he responded. Of course, she understood how difficult and tasking it was.
Her father was also a rich man but that had turned into something else with him having a fling with his secretary.
"I'm sorry." she guiltily said while lowering her head and staring at her feet.
"It's okay. You all think being a CEO is maintaining a handsome face. Ah. I have some business to attend to at the restaurant. So, I would be leaving first."
"You did?" She looked at him, "why did you bother bringing me back?"
"And let you jump the bus or trek after taking you out? What kind of a person would that make me, Andromeda?"
She lowered her head in defeat once again. He was right on so many fronts today and it made her unhappy.
She liked it when she could corner him too but most times, it felt as if she was but a toy in his hands.
He was the one making the rules and controlling the game.
She heaved out a sigh and nodded.
"Thanks for today."
"Anytime. Just go in, do what little you can do, and prepare to go home. I will be back at 3 pm sharp."
"Got it."
Immediately, he put his car in reverse and left the company's building.
