Chapter 146 146. SILENCE

A few minutes after browsing through the bookshelve, Noah realized that most books within the wooden shelf talked about magical beasts.

Not just about magical beasts, but the techniques used to tame them, or even more surprising, binding them to the tamer.

A second or two of flipping through the pages at high speed was all Noah needed to finish one of the over thirty books based on the afermentioned topics.

His tier 3 mind sorted the information almost as quickly as he read them, and he soon understood the contents to a moderate degree.

Most taming books spoke about simply feeding the beast for a long period of time, while also revealing yourself in bits to the magical beast until it becomes docile to the tamer.

The other books spoke of brutally beating the magical beast or threatening it with your superior level of power. Those sorts of books made emphasis on the tamers power being more than enough to tackle the beast in whatever way it wanted to attack.

Usually there was a warning at the end of such books explaining to the reader that the method explained would be more effective on beasts that respected superior power, and didn't pride themselves in theirs.

The other methods mentioned in other books, wrote of the tamer simply setting it free in a confined space, where after a period of time it would get bored due to its loneliness and seek to find the existence that kept it there, eventually recognizing the existence as its master.

There were other methods, but Noah quickly got bored of the topic. He wondered why Jon had such books in their tens, but didn't place too much importance on the matter.

He moved on to the books that spoke of ways to bound the beast to the tamer.

Noah found the topic very interesting and useful, at least for the future. He recalled the shining man that spoke to him, speaking of pets as part of his inheritance.

Surprisingly all books on that subject spoke of only one way to bind yourself to a beast, which was by tethering it to your soul.

The tether would bind itself with the beasts core and its very body, allowing the cultivator almost full access to its energy reserves if needed.

The process, according to the books would take days or weeks, depending on what type of beast it was and what level of power it wielded.

When the binder dies the beast also dies, but when the beast dies the binder would remain.

Most of the contents in those books were filled with how the procedure would go, and warnings about what could go wrong and the precautions to take to not allow them go wrong.

Eventually Noah felt he had learnt enough and decided to move to the other books in the shelf.

He found books containing basic control of mana and elements, mostly fire elements. He read a few books concerning formations. Something he hadn't seen being utilized for a while now, but he couldn't grasp the knowledge contained within them.

The books was usually around the fourth to sixth series, all by different writers. He couldn't dream of understanding them.

The books about inscriptions were also the same, not something that he would understand since they weren't meant for beginners.

It seemed Jon had intentionally not left any books containing sensitive knowledge, or anything that could harm he or the village.

'The important ones are probably in his ring,' Noah clicked his tongue.

Noah eventually got bored and didn't hesitate to cultivate his mind since it wasn't based on being in the presence of speed essence.

A few hours passed with Noah taking mulitiple breaks and even blacking out once in a while.

With every blackout, Noah found it easier to stare at the white shining words. He also managed to gain a few insights on troublesome actions he caught himself still taking.

He realized his trouble-bringing habit of letting people have they way with him a few times, when he could simply shut himself in and preserve his peace.

But another realization followed that realization. Noah found that he had begun to enjoy the mishaps that actually happened to him!

His mind had adapted to getting into danger far more than he realized.

Although he still longed for a challenge that would force his existence to strain itself, he found himself subconsciously enjoying his, most times; deadly situations.

'I'm fast. Definitely the fastest tier 3 in current times, but have i been utilizing my speed to its fullest,' Noah addressed another issue he had managed to keep at the back of his mind for a long time now.

'Why isn't there a guide for something like this,' Noah felt down, 'Are there even still speedlings out there,' he wondered. A sense of deep loneliness washing over him at that thought.

He had the system as a sort of companion, but it couldn't compare to tangible humans. 'Maybe that is why I let myself get vulnerable,' Noah sighed closing the cultivation manual and storing it.

[You gained 163 points to Dex]

His intelligence had increased far more than normal but he didn't focus on that.

Noah's eyes swept the large cave and he found nothing of interest to do.

Shifting his gaze to the ladder, Noah wondered if he could go out for a bit. The silence in the cave had become too suffocating for him.

He soon found himself walking towards the ladder in hopes of finding something to kill.

But he abruptly halted his steps as thoughts of cultivating his body fought his desire to escape the sickening silence.

His aura suddenly flared up after a few short moments. His desire to get stronger had won the battle and his body instinctively reacted to that win. A reaction he found shocking since he felt his whole body tremble in sudden, almost unexplained, excitement.

It took Noah a few seconds to calm down, but then a powerful bang suddenly reverberated through the entire cave.

The erratic sound waves causing ripples to spread on Noah's clothes, but nothing else.

A deep frown appeared on Noah's face. Focusing his gaze on the large metal door, Noah felt another powerful blow strike it. The sound only being slightly annoying to Noah.

Muliix practically crawled out of his skin, and he quickly located Cudgel inside his hair. Its figure enlarging to its normal size.

Five more blows had struck the metallic door at this, point but the large door stood strong. And surprisingly the whole underground cave lit up with red and yellow inscriptions. Most likely reinforcing the structural integrity of the entire place.

After more than six more bangs, silence reigned, causing Noah to wonder what exactly was behind the door.

A few minutes eventually passed, but no other bangs spread in the room. Noah felt himself begin to relax, but the door vanished.
