Chapter 389 389. SURPRISES
Noah stood before the group of ten silver figures, whose outlines were not exactly the clearest. He felt unable to properly see them.
The appearance of the creatures made the very environment reach a level of silence that threatened to burst his ears drums.
"Hollow beasts," Noah muttered noting how the creatures didn't feature legs but had arms. The fact that they were called hollowed beasts felt surprising to Noah since their presence filled the very air before him.
They were none like anything he had ever faced, and the fact that the system allowed his potions and all of his remaining power except Muilix and Cudgel and his speed; was more frightening.
The creatures were all different from each other. Not even their features were the same. But that had one thing in common.
Deformity.
There was no symmetry between most of their body parts, and the scene was creepy, to say the least.
Silence filled Noah's surrounding. The creatures had red glowing eyes, which he knew were fixated on him.
He wondered who would make the first move, and knew it had to be him, but his feet refused to move, at least until he called upon his empowerment and sprinted forward.
Noah's figure didn't create a long streak, only a blur. It would seem as long as there was no outpouring of the speed forces energy, he would not be capable of traveling at his usually incredible speed.
Noah had his daggers in his hand, so he had something capable of attacking even if it would require him to come close range.
Noah arrived before the first hollow and thrust his dagger forward with the entirety of his strength. He would not hold back since they felt truly dangerous.
His dagger struck the silver figure of the creature before him, and Noah felt bewilderment reach his mind when he saw his arm going through the creature.
With eyes wide open, Noah felt ready to pull back, when something struck him and directly tore through him.
The pain reached Noah's mind as he caught visuals of the things that had hurt him so easily.
'What the heck!' he screamed inwardly gazing at the many arms that now existed around the creature he had tried to stab.
The creature raised him; its arm still inside him, and it went on to utilize all nine of its arms.
Punches containing power that made even Noah's body unable to properly handle the pain reached his figure and sent him flying.
Noah crashed into the wall of grass, then on the ground. Blood poured out of his figure horrifically, as he lay there; still. Only for a few seconds, however.
A gasp eventually signified that he remained alive, but a cry of pain followed his regained consciousness.
The creature had beaten him to a stupor. Noah felt numb from his neck down. Bones had been bashed and broken, he was in his worst possible state.
It would take him a while to completely heal, and the creatures approached him, even if their movement was prolonged.
Noah felt his breathing increase as he lost his cool at the might of the creature. It had rendered him to that pitiful state while he had been in his empowered state!
'Why the fuck are they so slow moving,' Noah thought, trying to leave the pain at the back of his mind.
The creatures had barely moved a meter since he had landed on the ground, and he was more than 60 from them.
About a minute had to pass before Noah could return to his feet. However, he wasn't completely healed and had seen his core's content reduce by 90k.
"They are pretty slow. Very, actually," Noah muttered seeing as they had not even crossed half the distance between he had them.
Noah saw that weakness as a good thing since he would be dead if not for it.
'They are unable to utilize long-ranged attacks, as they don't have affinities.' He thought feeling his body return to its peak, and he downed a potion.
'I can either run past them, or try and at least kill one,' Noah considered but the issue remained that he didn't exactly know how to hurt them, or at least he wasn't sure which of his offensives could.
Sparks began to crackle around his figure and he pointed his arm to conjure a bolt of lightning.
A blinding light unfolded in the environment at that point, as the sound of a dense mass of electrical energy shattered the silence in the area and reached the hollow Noah had attacked before since it stood at the forefront of the group.
An explosion occurred at that point, but it cleared in the next instant.
The creatures unfolded in Noah's eyes soon after, and a frown appeared on his eyebrows as ideas began to appear and disappear due to the sight before him.
The creatures were all in one piece, but they had changed.
Rather than the silverness of their figure, Noah could now see limbs donned in a yellow hue that caused those body parts to shift until they stopped being vague.
It took him a while, but it eventually dawned on Noah what he would need to do.
The term hollow meant they featured nothing within them. They were capable of utilizing physical attacks but nothing else. Their figures featured no energy of sorts but Noah did.
He couldn't deliver physical blows on them but he could fill them up until he could, at least that was what he theorized.
Even is his fear of them had increased due to him being under their influence, Noah could stay a safe distance until he was able to do something.
With that thought, a barrage of lightning bolts started to leave his figure. It would take a while before he could properly fill them up, so he targeted the one at the fore front.
After 10k worth of essence burnt the hollow at the forefront had stopped being silver. Its entire figure now glowed a deep yellow color as Noah's energy filled its insides.
'I should be capable of doing something now,' Noah thought taking a deep breath as he prepared to move.
However, the beasts was not done with their surprises, since a bolt of lightning suddenly arrived in front of Noah and he had to dodge it to remain safe.
