Chapter 110 - 110: Ding Ding Forced the Abdication
“Mommy, happy birthday.”
Coco and Xiaoxiao ran up to her, each grabbing one of her hands.
“Coco, Xiaoxiao,” Shen Ning choked back her emotions.
“Mommy, we made a birthday cake for you. Quick, make a wish,” Xiaoxiao said, her head held high and a joyful smile on her face.
“Mommy, we added honey to the birthday cake. It’s really sweet,” Coco nodded, taking off her bag and handing it to her.
“Thank you, my dear children,” Shen Ning bent down to embrace the two little ones, planting a loving kiss on each of their little faces. She couldn’t help feeling guilty; if it weren’t for her, they wouldn’t be up so late.
She took their tiny hands and led them to the dining table. The candlelight flickered like stars and moons in the night sky, dispelling the darkness and warming her heart.
“Mommy, make a wish quickly,” Xiaoxiao exclaimed excitedly, clapping her hands.
Coco chimed in, “Mommy, make the most beautiful wish.”
“Alright,” Shen Ning sat down at the dining table, closed her eyes, and clenched her fists under her chin.
After a moment, she opened her eyes and blew out the candles. Coco switched on the lights.
“Mommy has made her wish. Come on, let’s eat the cake,” Shen Ning, with red eyes, began to cut the cake.
Because it was so late, the children had little appetite and only managed to eat a small portion before heading off to bed.
That night, Shen Ning slept with her children, experiencing a series of strange and vivid dreams. Most of these dreams were about Dingding, who kept calling out for mommy, breaking her heart.
Over the next three days, Dingding began to force him to give in.
Each day, he insisted that Li Zhenting invite Shen Ning to their home as his therapist. Li Zhenting, of course, was unwilling and played the role of a deaf man, completely ignoring him.
Dingding grew angry and decided not to eat on the third day.
Li Wanqing was alarmed this time and began to take the matter seriously.
It was a Saturday.
Li Zhenting had gone to work early at the company, while Shen Mei had made plans to go shopping with her wealthy friends.
Li Wanqing personally prepared a warm breakfast for Dingding, including a bowl of porridge and some side dishes. She went upstairs to wake him up.
However, despite calling out to him several times, there was no response.
She grew increasingly anxious.
Over the past few days, Dingding had not been eating well, and he seemed upset. His usual laughter had disappeared.
“Dingding, Dingding,” she called repeatedly, but still received no reply.
Worried, she instructed the butler, Mr. Luo, to fetch the master key and open his bedroom door.
As soon as she entered the room, she saw Dingding still sleeping in bed.
Normally, he would have been awake by now, either playing on his phone, reading comics, or engrossed in computer programming.
She rushed to his side.
At a glance, she felt tears welling up.
Dingding had his eyes tightly closed, and his face was burning with fever.
She placed her hand on his forehead.
It was scorching hot!
“Dingding!” she shouted, panic-stricken. She turned to Mr. Luo and said,
“Quick, call the family doctor. Something’s wrong with the child.”
Mr. Luo hurried downstairs to make the call.
“Dingding, Dingding,” Li Wanqing held him close, her voice filled with worry.
Dingding opened his eyes weakly and said, “Grandma, my head hurts so much.” “My dearest!” Li Wanqing’s tears flowed uncontrollably. “Grandma has called the doctor, and you’ll feel better soon. Just endure it a little longer.”
She picked up the intercom phone and instructed the household staff to bring an ice pack for his forehead and warm water for a sponge bath.
After a while, the family doctor arrived.
Following a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed Dingding with a mild cold due to catching a chill, and there didn’t appear to be any major issues.
He prescribed some medication, which Li Wanqing promptly administered to Dingding. After taking the medicine, Dingding drifted off to sleep.
Li Wanqing sat by his side, wiping away her tears, her face etched with worry.
Throughout Dingding’s upbringing, she had always felt like something was missing in his life, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it. Now, seeing him lying there weakly, her heart was heavy with sadness..
