Chapter 130 - 130 Ms. Lin, Make Your Debut
“That only took like half an hour. After that we went shopping. It was my big brother’s suggestion.” Li Zexin pulled his brother in the spotlight though he was still trying to be indifferent about all this.
“It’s all your fault.” Li Zexuan had been the one to initiate it but, in front of Lin Wan, he did not want to admit it.
“Ms. Lin, what are you waiting for? Go and try on the clothes. If it doesn’t fit, it can be exchanged,” said Li Zexin when he watched Lin Wan’s eyes turn red.
!!
“Alright,” she said. Lin Wan squatted down and closed the luggage bag.
“We can watch Auntie try on different clothes like a fashion show.” Li Zekai clapped his hands. “Let’s go to the living room for your debut.”
When they were buying snacks, the three of them chose what they liked. The atmosphere was harmonious. When they were buying clothes, their taste was very different. Li Zexuan and the others almost quarreled in the store. In the end, after some discussion, each of them chose five pieces of clothes each.
Lin Wan pulled the suitcase to the cloakroom on the first floor. She looked at the dazzling pile of clothes and took a deep breath. Compared to what her stepsons had done for her, what she had done for them was far too little.
After a few minutes of self-reflection, she casually picked up a piece of clothing and put it on. Although she didn’t like wearing a hat, she still wore it because they had been so kind. She walked out with a bright smile. “Wow, this one’s nice!”
Li Zekai was sitting in the middle of his two brothers. When he saw Lin Wan in the first piece of clothing, he said, “Aunty, I chose that! I have good taste.”
Li Zexuan and Li Zexin looked at their younger brother in the middle. “Tsk. Ms. Lin is just nice. There are two rabbits in the pocket. It looks childish.”
Lin Wan lowered her head and saw the rabbits. The smile on her face froze. The bright yellow was already loud enough without the two rabbits peeking out from the pocket.
“Aren’t Auntie’s pajamas also covered in small animals? They look very pretty.” Li Zekai didn’t think there was a problem with his sense of style.
“Next item.”
Lin Wan used a full hour to try on all the clothes. The last outfit was a plaid dress that Li Zexuan had chosen. Although the styles of the clothes were different, the sizes were just right. Lin Wan was a little surprised. ‘How did her stepsons guess her size?’
She asked them.
“I called you to ask in the afternoon, but you didn’t pick up,” said Li Zexuan. “So, I asked Mr. Li.”
“Auntie, big brother is so handsome that he can be a star. You’re so pretty. Can you also be a star? ” Li Zekai’s eyes widened.
“I think that looks fine. Ms. Lin, please step out.” Li Zexin followed.
Vivi had told him about bringing Lin Wan into the entertainment industry. However, when he mentioned it in front of his father, his father was the first to stand up and object.
Lin Wan’s gaze landed on her three stepsons, and she mimicked Li Yanchen’s tone. “It’s fine as long as we have one celebrity in our family. I’m quite busy.”
“That’s true. Auntie wants to do a dessert livestream, the “Night Talk” broadcast, and participate in variety shows. Our family doesn’t lack money.” Li Zekai said in a low voice.
“Who’s trying to persuade Lin Wan to become a celebrity?” Unknowingly, Li Yanchen had appeared behind his three sons.
The three children looked up at the same time and saw their father’s serious face.
“Dad, I didn’t say anything!” said Li Zekai. “I was just complimenting Auntie Lin.”
Li Zexin looked at his younger brother with disdain. Every time he encountered a problem, his younger brother was always the first one to get out of it by making silly excuses.
“If Li Zekai were to go to war, he would definitely be a deserter,” said Li Zexin. “Dad, we were just speculating.”
“Did you guys buy these clothes?” Li Yanchen looked at Lin Wan.
“I chose some of it,” said Li Zexuan with a faint smile.
“Daddy, I chose this. It looks good too.” Li Zekai rolled up the clothes he had chosen.
The man leaned down and ruffled his son’s hair. “They all look good,” he said. “Now, clean it up. I am taking you all out for dinner.”
“Not as a thanks for buying Ms. Lin clothes, right?” said Li Zexin in embarrassment. “You don’t have to. It’s nothing.”
“That’s partly the reason. Also, because we are going to Lan Village soon, I am afraid we will be eating a lot of porridge again. So, today, you can eat whatever you want,” said Li Yanchen.
No matter how Lin Wan heard it, he seemed to be implying she didn’t know how to cook. For the past few nights, she had been talking with Li Yanchen before going to bed. Li Yanchen could not understand why Lin Wan did not know how to cook when she was so good at making desserts.
“Dad, we already prepared the food. This time, I promise we won’t be fighting for ham sausages.” Li Zexin looked at Lin Wan.
When Li Yanchen had walked to the house, he had seen piles of snacks and dried foods in the courtyard. He had figured his sons had bought them in preparation for Lan Village.
Lin Wan snorted.
“Go and change your clothes. Hurry!” Li Yanchen opened his arms wide and pushed them gently off the sofa.
Auntie Huang and Assistant Qin stood at the side and smiled at each other as they watched them.
“Sir, I don’t have to cook tonight?” asked Auntie Huang.
“No need, Auntie Huang. Please rest for today. Assistant Qin, you should go back and rest too.”
Lin Wan changed back into her own clothes and was about to go to the bedroom to touch up her makeup. Li Yanchen followed behind her.
When she sat down on the dressing table, Li Yanchen wrapped his arms around her. “Wanwan, there is good news. We secured the spot on the second floor of Bai Si. We’ll sign the contract this week for three years.”
In her agitation, Lin Wan’s eyebrow pencil accidentally pricked her eyelid. She yelped. She turned around and wrapped her arms around Li Yanchen’s waist. “That’s great!”
“You poked yourself. Does it hurt?” He frowned and examined her eyes.
“No, it doesn’t. So, is this dinner a celebration for that?”
“Not entirely.”
“Oh!” said Lin Wan. “I have something to ask you too. Auntie Huo asked me to visit the Su family villa tomorrow. Last time, she said that she couldn’t get the crystal suit done no matter what, but I don’t think it’s appropriate for me to go alone. Do you have time?”
Li Yanchen pinched her nose. “Do you think I would mind if you went alone?”
“No, not that. I am just afraid of the paparazzi,” she said. “I am not a celebrity, but it seems I have become a sort of public figure. People always want to either praise me or criticize me. I don’t want to cause any trouble.”
When she first came to this world, Lin Wan felt that she was a loner and did not need to consider others around her. However, she was now a member of the Li family.
“I finally have a sense of collective honor,” Lin Wan blurted out.
“You are kidding!” Li Yanchen chuckled. “I will come with you tomorrow. I should go and thank her too. Don’t we have two pots of good tea at home? Let’s take one for President Su.” He looked at her fondly. “Get ready. I will go call Secretary Han and tell him I will be late for office tomorrow.”
Lin Wan sent Huo Meijun a message telling her that they can visit tomorrow at nine in the morning.
...
Huo Meijun was cooking when she heard the WeChat notification. She opened the chat box and couldn’t hide the smile on her face. “Alright. See you tomorrow,” she typed.
Li Zexuan and his two younger brothers washed up and got dressed. They waited for their father and Lin Wan at the stairs.
