Chapter 197 - 197 Wake Up Early and Sleep Very Late
[Everyone’s criticism is correct. In the future, I definitely won’t sit on Ms. Lin’s electric donkey. I even hugged the quilt for my dear life along the way.]
[Xuanxuan is replying? My hands are shaking!]
[Oh my god!]
!!
Li Zexuan turned off his phone and placed it in the drawer in his dormitory. He put his hands behind his back proudly and went to the classroom for the evening self-study.
After Lin Wan reached home, she made a bowl of coconut milk and went to the live broadcast room. She picked up the call from the first guest.
The young lady with the sweet voice was not like the previous guests, who immediately stated the problems they had encountered. Instead, she told Lin Wan that she had seen Li Zexuan’s post.
“What post?” Lin Wan’s first reaction was to wonder if he had been photographed skipping his class to come home, and if somebody had posted it online.
The guest explained the hot search about the post in detail, including the comments and Li Zexuan’s reply.
In the end, she said that she was a loyal fan of “We Are Also Very Ordinary” and that she had been following the Li family since the first episode. She liked Lin Wan very much and wanted to know how she had gotten her stepsons to accept her.
After returning from country H, Lin Wan had been thinking about this too. In the end, she only said, “You try to put yourself in their shoes.”
At nine at night, Li Yanchen returned home from the office. He asked Auntie Huang to make him a bowl of millet porridge. After he was done eating, he waited patiently for Lin Wan in the living room.
When Auntie Huang was done with her chores for the day, she sat down and talked with Li Yanchen.
“Sir, do you want to find an assistant for Madam? She looks quite tired. She even went to drop the young master to school on her electric scooter. It’s all in the news.” Auntie Huang’s heart ached when she watched Lin Wan trying to handle too much every day.
Li Yanchen had mentioned about an assistant before but Lin Wan had rejected it. She had said that with Xia Mo and Auntie Huang’s help, she could handle the live stream and other things on her own.
“Why don’t you hire a home tutor for young master to guide him in his studies?” said Auntie Huang.
Li Yanchen nodded. “I will discuss it with Wanwan. By the way, is she driving the car I left for her?” After moving here, Li Yanchen had wanted to bring Assistant Qin along to be her diver but Lin Wan wouldn’t hear of it. So, he had given her a car instead.
“Madam said that she wasn’t going too far, and it would be inconvenient to find a parking space, so she took her electric scooter,” said Auntie Huang.
Li Yanchen had asked Lin Wan before if she knew how to drive. She already had a car now so why wasn’t she driving it? ‘Is it because she doesn’t like the car?’
“Auntie, is it because of the car itself?” he asked. “Xuanxuan’s school is quite far. It’s not safe for two people on an electric scooter. Can you ask Madam what car she likes? I can buy it for her.”
“Alright. I will ask her and get back to you,” she said.
Lin Wan ended her stream at around ten in the night. She came out of the room with her unfinished coconut milk.
Li Yanchen, who had already been waiting for an hour, saw the woman walk to him and gave her a light peck on the forehead.
“Mr. Li, you’re off work?”
“Wanwan, you’re our family’s example for working hard now.” Li Yanchen joked.
Lin Wan sighed. “That’s right. I wake up early and sleep very late.”
“Madam, please sit with Sir for a while. I’ll go get some bird’s nest for you.” Auntie Huang made an excuse and left. She was used to seeing lovey-dovey couples, but she felt awkward being an interruption.
“Auntie, I’m not hungry. You should go and rest. We’ll go upstairs too,” said Lin Wan.
“Oh, okay. I’ll turn off the lights.”
In the balcony of the master bedroom on the second floor, Lin Wan laid down on the sofa lazily. Li Yanchen leaned against the balcony railing looking in the direction of Yun Xi High School dorms.
Although it was already half past ten at night, the dorms were still brightly lit.
“It’s not easy for kids these days. Back then, we had to turn off the lights before ten at night in our dorms,” he said.
“He is doing very well. I wonder how Xinxin is doing.” Lin Wan looked in the direction of the school, too.
“I was just about to discuss that with you. why don’t we hire a tutor for Xinxin to help him with his English?”
She had already mentioned this to Li Zexin but he had asked her to tutor him. He had said that when it was Lin Wan teaching him, he was motivated to learn.
“Xinxin wants me to tutor him.”
Li Yanchen sat down beside Lin Wan. “This child… is he doing this on purpose?”
“Are you afraid that I’ll be too tired?” Lin Wan could guess about his concerns.
“Yes. Auntie Huang has already reprimanded me. If this goes on, I’m really going to be abandoned by everyone in the family.” The three children were on Lin Wan’s side now. Only Auntie Huang was neutral.
Lin Wan stroked his face. “If you quantify the things I do every day, I don’t even work five hours in total. I’m even more relaxed than white-collar workers who work from nine to five.”
“Besides, we’ll be leaving for Lan Village in two days. Although it’s only a few days, I can take a break since Xinxin is not participating in the show this time.”
“Alright. Why did you send Xuanxuan to school today? It’s on the hot search. Why aren’t you driving the car I bought for you?” Li Yanchen’s face darkened.
Lin Wan laughed. “I just thought that an electric scooter was more convenient. It’s small and flighty. I will admit my mistake though. I shouldn’t have carried such a big person in my small scooter. I’ll be a law-abiding citizen in the future. ”
“You can also tell Xuanxuan to take a cab next time.” Li Yanchen’s lips curled into a smile.
“Your three children are still small and na?ve. Xuanxuan and Jiejie already think it is unfair that I only tutor Xinxin. If I let him go on his own, they will be even more disappointed.”
“The three children are so troublesome,” he added.
After a moment of silence, he asked, “Wanwan, do you regret this?”
“Well, I thought Xinxin would be sensible by now since he is fourteen, but he is becoming more childish,” she teased. “Xuanxuan is almost an adult. He can take care of himself. But who knew he would be even more troublesome than Xinxin?”
Li Yanchen’s brows were furrowed. Lin Wan was just joking about it but she saw his face turn solemn. “I am joking! They are all good kids. Now, give me a smile.”
Li Yanchen closed the curtains and leaned over her. “This is my punishment for you.”
At Mumu Time Café, after the last customers were gone, Dou Fei closed the glass door and locked it.
The path out of the back door through an alley led to Luo Xi’s house. Dou Fei had to give Luo Xi the quarterly report.
Luo Xi sipped tea in the courtyard while Jian Jia slept.
His other hand scrolled through his phone and stopped at that night’s hot news: Lin Wan dropping Li Zexuan to school.
...
She was completely different from the timid girl he knew from ten years ago. Luo Xi did not know if he would ever meet another woman like Lin Wan in his life.
“Boss.” Dou Fei called from outside the fence.
“Come in.”
A thick report was placed next to the teapot. Dou Fei was about to explain the situation of the quarter when Luo Xi interrupted him.
“You don’t have to show me these in the future.”
“But boss…”
