Chapter 303 -
Xie Wanyu had asked Luan Rongrong to stand near the door of the phone box and knock if anyone came near.
Luan Rongrong was surprised to see Xie Wanyu come out so soon. She had thought that they would talk for a while longer.
“What happened? The call didn’t get through?”
“It did. I talked to him,” said Xie Wanyu. “Let’s go.”
“Please don’t tell me you just asked for an autograph and hung up!” said Luan Rongrong in disbelief. Her friend was really smart when it came to studies, but how was she so dumb when it concerned Li Zexuan? She could have used the autograph as an excuse and talked to him for hours!
“Well… I can’t use the phone for too long. Others might want to use it,” said Xie Wanyu. “He is coming back in two days, anyway. He said he will ask for the autograph.”
“Aww… look how happy you are!” Luan Rongrong teased. “Please tell me you asked for an autograph for me too.”
“What’s mine is yours,” said Xie Wanyu. “Now, walk faster. It’s cold here.” They returned to their dorm room.
At Lan Village, Li Zexuan hadn’t moved away to accept the call, so Li Chuan and Xiao Yi had heard everything.
“Aww… you say you two have nothing going on but talk to each other at this time of the night,” said Xiao Yi jokingly. “Why would she call you if she wasn’t interested in you?”
“Really?” said Li Zexuan, feeling happy. “Do people call each other only if they are interested in one another?”
Li Chuan could guess what this was about. They talked about their own high school crushes.
Li Zexuan emphasized that he wouldn’t dare think of dating in high school. The three boys had their own little secrets they shared with each other that day.
At 9 p.m., the bonfire had burned out. It got a bit chilly, so everyone returned to their houses.
Li Zexuan was in his room. He pretended to sleep, but there were too many things on his mind. He pondered over Xiao Yi’s words. Was Xie Wanyu really interested in him?
It turned out that everyone had people they liked in high school. It was also true that all of them had felt like an idiot at some point in their life for having feelings.
Li Chuan shared about this class monitor he had liked in high school. However, he couldn’t muster up the courage to confess to her until their high school graduation day. After that, he got into sports, and she got into Beijing University. They were in two different places and had drifted apart.
Xiao Yi revealed that a girl had confessed to him in high school. However, he was just so focused on his studies that he rejected her. He hadn’t even said goodbye to her during their high school graduation.
Lin Wan had told him that these feelings were normal. They were a part of growing up. The feeling of innocence and awkwardness was part of being human.
Most moved on with their lives, but some people stayed with their first love even after college. Lin Wan also explained to him that Xie Wanyu might have some kind of feelings for him too, but it was just as new and confusing for her.
Lin Wan knocked on Li Zexuan’s door. “Xuanxuan, do you want some fruit tea?” That brought him back to reality.
Li Zekai had already showered. He was using the hand warmer that Lin Wan had won. It was in the shape of a pink rabbit.
“Jiejie, let me warm my hands for a while,” said Li Zexuan as he extended his hands for the hand warmer.
Li Zekai hugged it tight. “Brother Xuanxuan, I just finished showering! It’s cold. I need it for a while longer.”
Li Zexuan rolled his eyes. “God, you’re so petty.”
“Here, drink this. It’s hot. It’ll warm you up.” Lin Wan placed the cup with hot fruit tea on the table.
Li Zexuan and Li Zekai sat on either side of Lin Wan, while Li Yanchen watched gloomily from across them.
Li Chuan was leaving in the afternoon the next day. He wanted to keep Xiao Yi company. They played basketball for one last time. Xiao Yi felt bittersweet. He was happy that he was getting to play basketball with his idol but felt sad because Li Chuan would be leaving tomorrow.
At noon the next day, when it was time for Li Chuan to leave, the children were sad. Li Chuan gave them all a big hug. He wished them well and reluctantly got into the car.
With Li Chuan’s departure, everyone realized that this episode was also coming to an end.
In the afternoon, Lin Wan gathered the mothers for another yoga session. The staff set the cameras up in the field. The women talked among themselves for a while.
The varietv show was almost half done. Xia MO was a little emotional. Xia Mo.
Lin Wan, and Nannan had been in the show from the first episode until now.
Nannan expressed her thoughts first. She loved the fact that the show always introduced new flying guests. It was exciting to guess who would join them. However, it also made her feel sad because it was difficult to say goodbye to the guests in every episode. Although others would join the show again, the flying guests only participated in one episode and never returned. It made Nannan sad.
Zhou Pei wouldn’t be returning for the next episode. “I love that the children have grown closer here. Xiaoxiao has made friends here, which makes me so glad. The show has given Xiaoxiao and Weiwei the space to spend time with each other as well. Usually, Xiaoxiao would be away for filming, and Weiwei gets lonely. Here, the sisters have gotten closer, and they have made new friends, too!”
She knew that Weiwei would be disappointed that they weren’t joining the show for the next episode. The little girl always asked her mother how many more days she could play with her friends.
Xia Mo’s voice was hoarse. “Lin Wan, Nannan, and I have been in the show from the outset. We have had many new guests who joined and then left. I, for one, am quite used to it. But when I realize that your family won’t be back for the next episode, it makes me very sad. It’s normal for us to be this close after being together for so many days. When Xinxin didn’t come in the last episode, it made me feel so miserable. Even Xiao Yi wasn’t very happy.”
Lin Wan patted Xia Mo’s shoulder. “He’s happy in this episode since he got to meet his idol. He has thrown my Xinxin out of the window already. I am going to tell Xinxin about this.”
Xia MO chuckled with difficulty. “He hasn’t, though. I heard him asking Li Chuan to sign his keyboard. He said he wanted to give it to Xinxin. Xiao Yi doesn’t mention it, but he thinks about Xinxin a lot.” “That’s more like it!”
“Do you meet occasionally? I am envious,” said Nannan.
“You can join us too. We usually meet in my shop. That can be our little meeting place from now on. You can directly come there, okay?” Xia MO made a group chat and added Lin Wan, Nannan, Tao Jingyuan, and Zhou Pei. She also posted the address of the Sweetheart Inn in the chat for future reference.
Nannan was happy. She added Lin Wan and Xia MO as close contacts on her phone and promised to meet them at least once a month.
Zhou Pei would be busy traveling with Xiaoxiao, but she promised to be active in the group chat even if she couldn’t make it to the meet-up.
After Li Chuan left, the children went to the reed field to play hide-and-go-seek. They sat on the ground and talked about the things they had done when Li Chuan was around. It had been so much fun while he was there..
