Chapter 307 - 307: Good Looks And Good Personality
The remaining fathers rode the bicycle one by one. The last one to ride was Li
Yanchen.
Li Zekai watched his father get on the bicycle. “Daddy, be careful!”
Li Zexuan’s hands were in his pockets. He clenched them tightly into fists. Although he appeared calm on the outside, he was very worried. He had asked his father if he had ridden something like this before. Li Yanchen had told him he rode it about twenty years ago. However, he had assured his eldest son that riding a bicycle was a skill that couldn’t be forgotten once learned.
When Li Yanchen placed his feet on the pedals, the comments started flowing in.
[Mr. Li took off his jacket. He is wearing a white sweater. The senior I liked when I was in college looked similar. I am a fan of Mr. Li now.]
[I thought Mr. Li had a thermal shirt underneath, but he is wearing such a cute sweater.]
[God, he looks hot. I’ll fight anyone who calls him old from now on.]
[How can he be so handsome? I finally understand why Lin Wan loves him. He is both perfect in looks and personality.]
[Mr. Li must have been a heartthrob in his college days.]
[I am nostalgic about my own college days now. I am tearing up.]
[Mr. Li, please stay a while and let us admire you. You don’t need to hurry off.]
“Li Yanchen, you look so handsome!” Lin Wan shouted.
Li Yanchen couldn’t help but smile at that.
[Lin Wan is so bold.]
[She must be reminiscing about her past like us. Maybe it brought back too many memories.]
[Lin Wan has spoken! Aww… Mr. Li is smiling.] “Yes, Dad. You look so handsome!” said Li Zekai.
“Ready?” The staff blew the whistle.
Li Yanchen pushed on the pedals and shot forward like an arrow.
Li Yanchen remembered seeing couples riding on bicycles at his university. The girls would sit at the back, clutching at their books. He recalled that people on bicycles had been an indispensable part of the college campus.
He wondered how it would have felt if Lin Wan had ridden it together with him.
Li Yanchen suddenly stopped and returned to the starting point. He didn’t care about winning anymore.
Everyone was stunned.
“Mr. Li, are you confused about the path?” asked the staff. “Why did you come back?”
“Mr. Li, go forward. Just follow the path,” said Lin Wan.
Li Yanchen did not seem to hear anyone. The viewers were getting anxious. [What happened? Is something wrong with Mr. Li? Maybe he doesn’t feel well.]
[There is still a chance to win this thing if he continues. Go, Mr. Li! You can do it!]
[Wait… what is the staff talking about with Mr. Li? Is there a problem with the bicycle?]
[They can change the bicycle and start over.]
“Mr. Li wants to give up on this race,” said the staff. “He wants to ride the bicycle with Lin Wan along the road. Is that okay with the rest of the guests?”
“It’s fine with us.”
The others stared at Lin Wan. They were a little peeved that their husbands didn’t think of that.
Lin Wan now understood why Li Yanchen had turned back.
The memory of riding a bicycle around college made her feel nostalgic. It wasn’t the first time she had imagined meeting Li Yanchen in their college years. They could’ve ridden bicycles, studied together, and just spent time with each other.
Lin Wan walked to Li Yanchen with a smile on her face.
[Mr. Li is so romantic…]
[I kind of thought about it. When Mr. Li sped off, I pictured him and Lin Wan together on the bicycle.]
[You probably didn’t picture the others, did you?] [The other women look envious.]
[Who can blame them? I am envious, too.]
[Couples on bicycles are everywhere on college campuses. Mr. Li must have been thinking the same.]
[Lin Wan and Mr. Li’s age difference is quite big. They might not have gotten the chance to go to college together. They can now live their dream in this mission.]
Even the staff members were moved. They hadn’t expected Li Yanchen to give up on the competition just so he could ride a bicycle with Lin Wan.
“Do the rest of the dads also want to ride on the bicycle with their wives?” asked the director. “We can have a round for that too.”
“Yes!” said everyone.
“Okay then, ” said the director. “The winner of the first round is Michael. The reward will be revealed after two other rounds.”
Li Yanchen set off once more. He didn’t want to win anymore. He already had what he most wanted.
Lin Wan sat on the back and wrapped her arms around Li Yanchen’s waist. She then gently leaned forward on him. “You are doing so well.”
Li Yanchen placed a hand over hers. “Guess what I want to do right now.”
Lin Wan withdrew her hands. “There are staff members positioned at every bend. Don’t try anything stupid.”
“Seriously? What are you even thinking about? Do you think I am that perverted? Guess again.”
“Hm… You want to take me to see your university,” said Lin Wan.
“How did you know?”
“I can tell. You always reminisce about your past. I really want to do that,” said Su Wan. “I want to see your university. I want to see the benches there that you might have sat on, and the places you might have walked by. I want to see all that and imagine what you were like in your twenties. Were you cold and aloof, or as frivolous as you are now?”
“Would you really like that? I can take you there and show you around.”
“Yes, Mr. Li, I would like that very much.”
“Alright,” he said.
Li Yanchen was riding very slowly. The paddy fields around him reminded him of the Chinese parasol trees on the university grounds. If it wasn’t for the other guests waiting for their turn on the bicycle, he would have stopped to take some pictures with Lin Wan.
[I wish there were cameras on the small path. I really want to see what Mr. Li and Lin Wan look like on the bicycle together.]
[I can just about picture it in my mind.]
[Please put a camera on the bicycle. We really want to see the scenery.
[The race is already over. Why doesnt the Festival Group let the guests just enjoy themselves?]
[The children look confused. They don’t understand romance.]
[The children could sit in the front. I used to sit on the horizontal rod in the front when I was young.]
[Yeah… but some families have two children. I doubt Xuanxuan would be willing to sit in the front.]
[Yeah. It isn’t suitable for everyone.]
[Does anyone remember sitting on the back of the old bicycle? You had to place your feet on either side of the wheel on the small knob in the middle.]
[I do! The wheel caught my skin. It was painful. My father then tied a cloth around the knob so that I could keep my feet without it touching the wheel. My father passed away, but I still remember it as though it happened just yesterday.]
The viewers wrote about their own fond memories triggered by the bicycle ride..
