Chapter 357 - 357: Getting More And More Energetic
“Feifei, don’t cry, ” said Wheatley as she comforted Feifei.
“Sister Wheatley, let’s take that grandpa to the doctor.” Feifei knew how much it hurt even when he had a small cut. He couldn’t imagine how painful it must be for the old man to walk by.
The old man’s walking stick was so worn out that its surface shone. It was obvious that it was not a small injury.
The adults are talking to the other old people in the village. “Our parents will help. Let’s not cause any trouble,” said Wheatley.
“Alright,” he said. Feifei wiped his tears.
The cameras captured this scene.
[The child is crying, and I can’t stop my tears either. I can’t help but think of my parents. They’ve been dead for a few years, but my mind is still filled with memories of them waiting for me to come home.]
[@Previous Poster, I feel so sad after hearing that.]
[We are all the same. We leave our villages for a better life, but who will take care of those left behind? Even if we try to take them with us, it’s a place they have lived in for their whole lives.]
[Yes, but it’s a difficult choice to make. We also need to build our lives and our careers, no matter how difficult it is to leave.]
The guests visited a few more houses. Each person was worse off than the other.
The guests were aware of the Festival Group’s intention. They were grateful that the Festival group had brought them here.
On the way back, everyone was deep in thought. Their hearts were heavy.
As soon as they got back, Li Meng wrote an article about what she had seen. She posted it online through her public account. The post reached a hundred thousand views in a matter of minutes.
The article made people feel the difficulties of the villagers. A donation drive was set up to help the people.
Li Meng even suggested that everyone should visit the village with their children. Perhaps it would give everyone a new perspective on life.
In the evening, the children didn’t clamor for a feast. They felt down and were happy to have a bowl of noodles or porridge.
This wasn’t the intention of the Festival Group. They only wanted to show the families that some people in this world lived difficult lives. They only hoped that rich families would reduce the waste they produced.
Xia MO invited Lin Wan over to her house to make dumplings with eggs and leek filling. It was a simple and convenient meal.
When the other families found out about this, they all joined in to help. They arrived at Xia Mo’s house with flour and eggs that they could spare.
Everyone was gathered in Xiao Yi’s courtyard. The children also joined in.
Xia MO asked Xiao Tianlin and Li Yanchen to fetch some vegetables from the garden and chop some meat. They were going to make two types of dumplings.
[Dumplings are good.]
[Northerners say that a day without dumplings is incomplete. Or was it a day without noodles?]
[Every time I make dumplings, my children come to help. Although they make really ugly dumplings, I let them do it. They are so eager and happy to help.]
[My daughter does the same. She makes pretty good dumplings, but she eats a dozen at a time.]
[My daughter does that too!]
[It’s nice to make dumplings together as a family. I still don’t know how to roll out the dumpling skin.]
The flour that Xia MO had brought was more than enough. She estimated the amount it would take to make dumplings for everyone and poured the flour into a bowl. She had two rolling pins with her. She gave Tao Jingyuan a rolling pin to help with rolling out the dumpling wrappers.
The fathers were in charge of chopping meat and vegetables and preparing the fillings, while the mothers of the families were in charge of wrapping the fillings.
The children were given small bowls with fillings so that they could help wrap them into dumplings. Xiao Yi wasn’t good at rolling the dough into dumpling wrappers, but he knew how to wrap the fillings into a dumpling. He took the lead and taught the other children how to do it.
The live broadcast was filled with the sounds of chopping and cooking. Xia MO and Tao Jingyuan couldn’t keep up with rolling the dough into small dumpling wrappers at the rate at which the others finished making the dumplings.
“Can we wrap them one at a time?” said Xia Mo. “I can’t keep up, and it’s making me stressed.”
“Of course,” said Lin Wan as she placed her chopstick down. “We’ll wait.”
Nannan and Li Meng also stopped.
Xia MO and Tao Jingyuan wanted to speed up, but their hands were sore. They became slower and slower at rolling out more dumpling wrappers.
“Let me do it,” said Li Yanchen walking up to Xia Mo.
Everyone was speechless.
[Does Mr. Li know how to roll out dumpling wrappers?]
Xiao Tianlin volunteered too. “Lawyer Tao, let me help.”
Li Yanchen and Xiao Tianlin skillfully took a small portion of the dough, placed it on the table, and used the rolling pin to knead and roll it into a wrapper. Soon, round dumpling wrappers were completed quickly.
Lin Wan was stunned. She didn’t know Li Yanchen knew how to use a rolling pin. She had underestimated her own man.
Xia MO knew that Xiao Tianlin already knew how to make dumplings from scratch. It would be embarrassing to not know such stuff as a northerner, after all. However, she never expected Li Yanchen to know it, either.
[I cannot believe my eyes. Is that really Mr. Li?]
[A perfect dumpling wrapper. Making dumplings is about skill and hard work.] [Look at how fast he is!]
[I am always surprised when Mr. Li does down-to-earth things like these. I thought big, rich bosses like him wouldn’t know how to cook. Mr. Li cooks good food at home.]
[Maybe he is a chef who works in secret.]
[Chenxin is involved in various industries. It’s possible that he has some knowledge of food. Besides, as the owner of Chenxin, I think he feels the need to be familiar with the various industries his company invests in.]
[That does make sense.]
Lin Wan was amazed. The rolling pin wasn’t the modern, convenient kind, either. It was the old one, which was a meter tall and as thick as a person’s wrist. Where had Li Yanchen learned to roll out dough?
“It’s been a long time, but I didn’t expect I would still remember how to do this.” Li Yanchen was energetic.
“Brother Li, I actually didn’t expect you to know how to roll out dough. You’ve really impressed me today,” Xiao Tianlin said as he glanced at Li Yanchen.
“It’s quite easy,” said Li Yanchen.
Lin Wan had tried to roll out dough to make noodles at home. She usually used the small rolling pin because it was easier. Even then, she couldn’t get it to roll into a round shape. In the end, she usually gave up, flattened the dough, and cut it into strips.
However, Li Yanchen finished rolling out several wrappers in a few minutes. He was quite good at this. Lin Wan looked at the wrappers he had made. They were perfectly round and thin enough to be wrapped around fillings.
“Wow… you’re very talented in this,” she said as she praised him.
Li Zexin, Li Zexuan, and Li Zekai surrounded their father. They stared at the dumpling wrappers very carefully. They didn’t know their father was good at this.
“Dad, you’re really good!” Li Zekai clapped his hands.
“You are actually good and not just showing off!” said Li Zexin thoughtfully.
“To think that such a thick stick can roll out something so round and perfect. Impressive, Mr. Li. I do admire you for knowing something like this,” said Li Zexuan.
Realizing that Xiao Tianlin also wanted some praise, Li Zexin turned to him and flattered him with compliments..
