Chapter 136 - 136: Not Bad Single
Wan Chunling was insistent on preparing tea. After a brief wait, she returned with two steaming cups of tea.
“Auntie, let me take a look at your wound,” Fang Yuan said, noting the sand still embedded in Wan Chunling’s arm from her fall. She skillfully attended to her wound.
Wan Chunling expressed surprise, “You know how to dress a wound?”
Fang Yuan replied with calm humility, “I’ve seen it on the Internet. It’s just like drawing a tiger based on a cat.”
Wan Chunling recognized the modesty in Fang Yuan and held an even higher opinion of her.
Meanwhile, Gu Panpan applied medicine to her wound. As the cotton swab grazed the injury, she winced in pain.
“Allow me to assist you,” Wang Ning offered, taking the cotton swab and gently treating her wound. “Please let me know if it hurts.”
“Of course,” Gu Panpan responded, watching him with appreciation as he applied the ointment. “Thank you!”
Once the wounds were properly cared for, Fang Yuan suggested, “1 don’t think Gu Qingqing is a trustworthy person. You should consider changing your place of residence.”
Gu Panpan had already contemplated this. “But we can’t find a cheaper place than this.”
Fang Yuan revealed, “I have a friend who’s gone abroad, and she’s asked me to help her rent out her house. The rental price isn’t the main concern; it’s important that the tenant takes good care of it.”
Gu Panpan, her eyes brightening with hope, promptly responded, “We will cherish the house!”
Fang Yuan inquired, “How much is your current monthly rent?”
Gu Panpan replied, “3600.”
“Then I’ll rent it to you at the same price,” Fang Yuan proposed calmly. “The house is nearby, making the commute to work more convenient.”
“President Fang, we’ve checked the nearby houses, and there really aren’t any two-bedroom options of this quality besides this one,” Gu Panpan said, worried that Fang Yuan might think it’s too inexpensive and have trouble explaining to her friends.
Fang Yuan reassured her, “My friend mentioned that the rent isn’t a problem.” She glanced at the time. “I have something to attend to now. Wang Ning will come over later to assist you with the move. 1 need to confirm the exact location with my friend. She told me before, but I’ve forgotten.”
“President Fang…” Gu Panpan struggled to find the right words to express her gratitude.
Wan Chunling rose from her seat. “Yuan, you’ve helped us twice, and we’re at a loss about how to repay you… Thank you so much!”
Fang Yuan waved off their concerns. “You don’t have to repay me. Living well and thriving is the greatest repayment.”
Wan Chunling was deeply moved, and her eyes welled with tears.
“Everything is settled,” Fang Yuan said as she stood up. She exited the apartment and, once in her car, powered on her phone to locate the house she intended to rent in the city center.
It was a three-bedroom residence in Jadewater Mansion, spanning 90 square meters and boasting a high-end finish. The passcode lock was 010101, a code she often used for properties her grandfathers gifted her, chosen for its simplicity.
Fang Yuan messaged Wang Ning, “We’ll meet at River Shore Cafe later. I’ll head there first. You can return to assist with the move.”
Wang Ning replied, “Understood, President Fang.”
In Bo Yi’s office, he glanced at his phone repeatedly. Despite the girl’s photo being on display, there wasn’t a single WeChat message on the screen.
“Is the internet down?” Bo Yi examined the full Wi-Fi signal, growing suspicious that it might be deceiving him. He turned to Mu Qing and instructed, “Send me a message on WeChat.”
Mu Qing appeared puzzled by Bo Yi’s request. “Send a WeChat message?” He questioned why they were resorting to WeChat when they were in close proximity, instead of speaking directly. Nevertheless, he respectfully inquired, “Master Bo, what would you like me to send?”
Bo Yi responded, “Whatever you want.”
“In that case, I’ll send an emoji,” Mu Qing decided and sent a smiling face.
Bo Yi received the message instantly, indicating that it wasn’t an issue with the signal but that the young lady simply hadn’t messaged him.
Bo Yi found the smiley face in bad taste for the workplace. He felt as if it were mocking him. “I’ll donate this month’s bonus to Hope Primary School in your name.”
Mu Qing’s eyes widened in shock. What had he done wrong? Master Bo had told him that he could send anything. Why was he being scolded for a smiley face?
Bo Yi opened their conversation on WeChat. The last message from Yuanyuan was at six in the morning, where she wished him a good night’s sleep and expressed her desire to see him once she woke up. She had seemed genuinely concerned for him. So why hadn’t there been any messages from her since she arrived at work?
Frustration welled up in Bo Yi’s heart at the thought of some male colleague in the company trying to court her. Glancing at Mu Qing, who seemed lost, he asked, “Is there something you need to do? Have you followed up on the project 1 assigned to you? Have you resolved the issue I asked you to address?”
Mu Qing replied, “Master Bo, I will attend to it immediately.”
“Hold on!” Bo Yi halted Mu Qing, who was making a quick exit. “Did I tell you to leave?”
Mu Qing, puzzled, inquired, “Master Bo, is there anything else you’d like me to do?”
Bo Yi asked, “Did any of the brands you purchased last time have a connection to clothing?”
