Chapter 115 - 115: Shen Qian’s Late Night Call
Perhaps this was the sorrow of being born into a wealthy family. He surprisingly found himself not envious of such a life. Back in the day, he used to admire how those rich kids could get everything without much effort. How he wished he had a “wealthy dad” too.
“Let’s go, it’s time to head back to the hotel.”
“Alright,” Zhou Chi replied, following her.
Shen Wan returned to her room. She diligently completed a yoga routine, took a short break, and then drank more than half a bottle of water before heading to the bathroom.
Summer clothing was easy to remove. She walked and undressed, and by the time she reached the bathroom door, she was completely bare.
Standing in front of the mirror, Shen Wan checked her arms, chest, waist, abdomen, and thighs. She noticed that she had gained a bit of weight, which put her in a very pleasant mood.
She put on her bathrobe, dried her hair, and took out her computer. She started searching for research papers on game development on the Huaxia Knowledge Network. Many of these papers involved intricate programming knowledge, and most of them came from foreign sources. Many of the specialized terms were difficult to understand even in Chinese, let alone in English.
Shen Wan struggled to comprehend the content, relying on a specialized dictionary. Nevertheless, it was enough for her. The more advanced knowledge was something Zhou Chi needed to master and apply practically. Her goal was to grasp the general framework and processes, ensuring she had a basic understanding.
At exactly eleven o’clock, Shen Wan lay down in bed.
She had always believed in the saying that getting enough sleep and waking up early was good for one’s health.
She thought it would be a peaceful night of sleep, but it was disrupted by an unpleasant phone call.
“…Hello?” She answered with irritation in her voice, feeling annoyed by being awakened.
There was a brief pause on the other end, then a clear and gentle voice flowed through the quiet night. “Were you already asleep?”
Shen Qian!
“…Brother.” In the darkness, Shen Wan instinctively held her breath, her tone no longer carrying the earlier annoyance.
She was on high alert.
“Yeah, I was asleep.”
“Sorry, I forgot about the time difference. It must be late where you are.”
“Do you need something?”
The man avoided answering directly and instead asked, “Are you having a good time?”
“You know?!”
“I asked All Yan.”
Shen Wan used the pretext of wanting to travel before assuming her new role. They didn’t inquire about the particular city, and she didn’t disclose it. It all appeared to happen casually while Shen Qian was overseas for a project. She believed he was unaware, but despite her discreet approach, he ultimately discovered it!
So, was this phone call a greeting or a test?
“Where are you right now?”
Shen Wan thought, here it comes!
Her heart raced, but her voice remained steady. “I’m in City G.”
“Why did you suddenly want to go there?”
“I saw online that there are a lot of great food options here, and the sea view is beautiful.”
“Do you have any photos?”
Shen Wan’s heart skipped a beat.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?”
“…Brother, it’s very late now, and I want to sleep, or else I might feel dizzy tomorrow.” She had a slight tendency for low blood sugar, and she had experienced dizziness before when she was talking to Shen Qian.
There was a sudden silence on the other end, but the call was still connected.
Shen Wan instinctively tightened her grip on the phone, feeling her palms getting slightly sweaty.
It felt like an eternity had passed before the man’s gentle voice spoke again.”… Get some rest, good night.”
“Brother, good night.”
After ending the call, Shen Wan glanced at the screen. It was 3 AM. She turned over and went back to sleep.
She had expected to have trouble sleeping, but surprisingly, she woke up feeling refreshed in the morning.
After washing up and changing into sportswear, Shen Wan added an extra layer as the morning was chilly. She warmed up and went out for a run.
When she returned, her phone, placed on the bedside table, was buzzing with calls.
It was the number she had acquired yesterday, and the only person who had it was Yi Hong.
“Good morning, Mr. Yi.”
“I’ve prepared the equity transfer contract for the development team and the letter of intent for the third round of financing. If Miss Shen is available, let’s schedule a time to sign the documents as soon as possible, and we can also move forward with the subsequent work.”
Yi Hong’s proactive approach surprised her slightly. However, upon further thought, she realized that he probably didn’t want to owe any favors and wanted to resolve matters quickly to avoid complications.
“Sure, let’s meet at 10 a.m.”
“At the same tea house as yesterday?”
Shen Wan hesitated for a moment and then said, “Yes.”
Since Quan Hanting already knew everything, why bother hiding or evading?
At 10 AM, at Shangyuan, Tea Room No. 7.
The same place, the same people.
Zhang Cheng took out two sets of documents from his briefcase and handed them to Yi Hong, who then passed them to Shen Wan. “This is the equity transfer agreement. After both parties sign it, I will have it notarized by a lawyer. Once everything is confirmed to be in order, the transfer procedures can be completed.”
Shen Wan took the documents, quickly scanned through the crucial parts, and found no issues or deceptive loopholes. She promptly signed her full name.
Zhang Cheng watched her read through it as if she were reading a novel and thought to himself, “Can this young girl really understand all this?”
Before meeting her, he had assumed that Mr. Wan would be a mature and cunning middle-aged man, a master strategist with impeccable plans. However, after meeting her, his initial impression was completely shattered. To this day, he couldn’t believe that the “mysterious person” who had saved Hengyi from deep trouble and danger would be the seemingly fragile and frail young lady standing before him.
“…All Cheng?!”
“Mr. Yi?”
“You’re daydreaming at a time like this? Did you stay up late again last night?” Yi Hong whispered in a low voice.
“No…”
“Don’t deny it!”
