Chapter 189: Moon Phase Revolution
“Junior Martial Brother Xu, what’s wrong?” He Junyu asked. When he looked at Xu Disheng, he could sense some kind of indescribable change in him.
“It’s nothing,”Xu Disheng replied, shaking his head.
He Junyu wanted to inquire further, but Cloud Stream Spirit Master’s voice rang out from high up in the sky.
“The top 10 will fight until only 5 remain.”
When his voice reached everyone’s ears, lines started to appear on the golden list of names projected in the screen on the sky, matching up the 10 names on it.
Mingxin Mountain Range’s Xu Disheng versus Shangqing Mountain Range’s Mo Yue.
Shangqing Mountain Range’s Zhang Yangui versus Mingxin Mountain’s He Junyu.
Wenyuan Mountain Range’s Mu Hui versus Refining Heart Mountain’s Ji Haohan.
Fengzhou Mountain’s Liu Daoxuan versus Mengyang Mountain Range’s Xu Zimo.
Zhuri Mountain Range’s Zhao Xiuyong versus Fengzhou Mountain Range’s You Shao.
Up to this point, it was already very clear who the top 10 geniuses of the Sea of Qi division were. The Shangqing Mountain Range, Mingxin Mountain Range, and Fengzhou Mountain Ranges all had two people each left in the tournament. The Refining Heart Mountain Range, Wenyuan Mountain Range, Mengyang Mountain Range, and Zhuri Mountain Range each had one person left in the standings. The Sea of Qi division geniuses from the other Mountain Ranges had all been eliminated.
“What?!”
“Xu Disheng and Mo Yue!”
“They encountered one another in the top 10 battle?!”
“If Xu Disheng was matched with anyone other than Zhang Yangui and Mo Yue, he would be able to secure an easy victory. But against Mo Yue…”
“Mo Yue is an unparalleled genius with a Rank 3 Spiritual Root. It isn’t clear who will emerge victorious in this fight.”
In the sea of clouds and even across all Eight Mountains of the Shangqing Sacred Sect, everyone had their eyes on Xu Disheng and Mo Yue, and they were discussing spiritedly amongst themselves.
There wasn’t as much discussion about the other four pairs.
Zhang Yangui was up against He Junyu, who previously didn’t have much fame or reputation in the Eight Mountains. The outcome practically went without saying.
Although Mu Hui could be called a true genius, he was still somewhat lacking compared to the Rank 3 Spiritual Root genius Ji Haohan.
The last two pairings mentioned were also commendable, but they were somewhat overshadowed by the previous few matchups. There was a bit of luck involved in them getting to this point, so very few people were particularly interested in their matchup.
Mo Yue was wearing a long black dress with intricate designs, adorned with lightly glowing motes of starlight. After she looked up at the list of names, she glanced nonchalantly over at Xu Disheng as if she was taking him lightly..
“Mo Yue versus Xu Disheng,” Cloud Stream Spirit Master announced, his voice echoing out from afar.
An enormous black-feathered luan appeared beneath Mo Yue’s feet. With a cry, it flapped its wings and soared into the air, bringing her onto the mist arena.
As always, Xu Disheng stepped on the phantom image of the Yin Yang Diagram and flew up to the stage. When he looked over at the girl in the black dress at the other side of the arena, he felt an extremely powerful sense of life-threatening danger coming from her slender, seemingly delicate figure.
Xu Disheng hadn’t personally gone to the arena to watch the fight between Mo Yue and Xiao Yingzong earlier, but he had opened his screen of light and watched a bit from his great hall, so he knew just how tyrannical Mo Yue’s strength was. He knew that he couldn’t let down his guard the slightest bit, otherwise he would definitely lose this match.
“Mo Yue, from Shangqing Mountain Range’s Early Moonrise Peak,” she said, going out of her way to introduce herself for the first time in this entire tournament.
Although everyone knew who she was, this act revealed that she did consider Xu Disheng as a truly worthy foe.
“Xu Disheng, from Mingxin Mountain Range’s Morning Dew Peak.”
Black winds swept up from Xu Disheng’s body, and the soul-suppressing Evil Spirit skull morphed into the size of a horse carriage. It floated next to him, its eyes tightly closed.
… …
“Senior Martial Brother Chu, do you think we should keep betting on Senior Martial Brother Xu?” Ma Chen asked. He and the other two disciples were looking at Chu Luo with hesitant looks on their faces, waiting for his reply.
Ever since they came to the marketplace on Canxia Peak, they had been betting as a party on Xu Disheng for every match he participated in. They had earned over a hundred spirit stones by this point, but after he was matched up against Mo Yue, the odds had fallen, and were now practically 1:1.
Chu Luo didn’t respond to them and instead started to take out all of his spirit stones. They amounted to a little over 270 spirit stones in total, which he proceeded to place on the betting table. “All in on Senior Martial Brother Xu,” he declared firmly.
“Senior Martial Brother Chu, that’s Senior Martial Sister Mo Yue, an unparalleled Rank 3 Spiritual Root genius from the Shangqing Mountain Range, you know?!” Ma Chen and the others exclaimed. When they saw him go all in, not leaving even a single spirit stone behind, their expressions were hesitant as they wavered, vacillating over whether or not they should bet.
“If you all want to place your bets, then it’d be best to hurry up. The fight is about to start, and the betting table will close soon,” the disciple running the betting table called out to the dozens of disciples in the surroundings. Red-eyed, they each hurriedly placed their bets one after the other, afraid that their bets would be considered invalid if they were too late.
“Don’t worry, I believe in Senior Martial Brother Xu,” Chu Luo said unhurriedly, looking up at the screen of light and seeing Xu Disheng’s cool, collected expression.
Ma Chen and the others shared a look, seeming to make up their mind. They each put all of their remaining spirit stones on the betting table. “We will bet all of these spirit stones on Senior Martial Brother Xu.”
