Chapter 797 - Awake

Chapter 797: Awake

His voice was especially hoarse due to his dry throat.

“You’re finally awake!” A hint of excitement appeared on Fang Xinxin’s stunning features. She seemed as though she had finally seen a ray of hope after years of desolation.

She embraced him tightly and pressed kisses against his pale cheeks.

“I’m actually alive! To think that I could see you again!” He returned her embrace with the same fervor. If this had been any other time, his grip would definitely have bruised her.

However, he was now seriously injured and barely had any strength.

“En, en. You’re still alive. We’re still together.” Fang Xinxin nodded repeatedly. She was already in tears.

In fact, while he had been unconscious, she had checked his breath repeatedly for fear that he would die.

Although she wasn’t a doctor, she had been both blind and paralysed in her past life. Her prolonged illness had turned her into a good doctor. She understood that his consciousness meant that he had made it past the critical period.

Bai Qinghao had been mostly unconscious the whole time, but he was somewhat aware of what had happened.

He knew that she had fed him food and water.

“En, we’re still together!” His gaze fully conveyed how moved he felt.

“Now that you’re awake, you must be hungry.” She opened the first aid kit. “Quickly eat something and drink some water.”

“Water…” A hint of surprise flashed past his gaze. “How did you obtain water?”

“I placed the surgical knife into a bottle before sunrise and collected some dew drops.” She handed the bottle to him and removed the lid. “Quickly drink it.”

His wife sure was smart. She even came up with a method to collect water. He glanced at the half-filled bottle. There was only around fifty millimeters of water. “It didn’t evaporate in the day?”

“I closed the bottle tightly in the daylight and stored it in my pocket. The bottle was soaking in the seawater to keep from being evaporated.”

He finally understood. Although it seemed like a small portion of water, she went through many difficulties to keep it for him.

She saw that his lips were cracked and urged. “Hurry and drink it!”

At daylight, her throat had been painfully dry and it hadn’t been easy stopping herself from drinking this water.

He shook his head. “I’m much better now. You can have it.”

She was far too thirsty. She also understood he would not take all the water for himself. Thus, she said, “The sun has set. It’s time for dinner. Let’s eat something and split the water between the two of us.”

She saw that he wanted to protest and hurriedly added. “You’re not allowed to argue with me. You need to drink some water and eat some food. My heart will ache if your wound doesn’t recover.”

He also understood that his current, wounded state was a burden to her.

Since she loved him dearly, he needed to recover as quickly as he could.

Thus, they sliced more pieces of the shark meat, around five hundred grams of it together. They relied on the small amount of water to help them to swallow each mouthful.

Just like this, all the water was used up.

They had around seven hundred grams of fish meat still left.

Their food was running out and they could only collect a small amount of water every morning.

Although their chances for survival were low, Bai Qinghao strangely felt overjoyed.

What reason did he have to be unhappy? His wife was devoting her entire being to loving him. Despite the time, the risks and the dire circumstances, she had refused to abandon him!

He swore that if they both survived, he would dote on her even more than he previously did!

After eating, Bai Qinghao seemed to have thought of something. “How long was I unconscious for?”

“You were in a coma for two days and two nights.”

“I remember that I had a fever.” He frowned. “You fed me medicine before early morning. You couldn’t have had any water with you at the time..”
