“Brother Li, why did Grandmother’s condition take a sudden downturn? Didn’t the doctor assure us that the surgery was successful?” Ye Tianxin asked worriedly. When she heard of the terrible news, her heart beat fast, and she felt weak that she found it hard to stand.
Fortunately, Li Qingcang was beside her, and he managed to catch her with his arms. As Ye Tianxin looked as though she was on the verge of passing out, Li Qingcang quickly remarked, “Pull yourself together. Let’s talk about this when we reach the ward.”
He then carried Ye Tianxin all the way to the intensive care unit. It took them a while to reach Tianxin’s grandmother’s room.
When the doctor saw Li Qingcang and Ye Tianxin, he quickly walked towards them and said, “Young Master Li, someone snuck in to the ICU and removed the patient’s oxygen mask before turning off the device.”
Ye Tianxin immediately froze when she heard this. ‘It’s her. It must be Qin Lili,’ she suspected.
After Li Qingcang guided Ye Tianxin on the chair, he then inquired, “Could we check the footage caught on the surveillance camera?”
“Of course. I’ve already instructed someone to retrieve it. She’ll be back anytime soon,” the doctor replied.
“Thankfully, the nurse discovered this before everything’s too late. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable. What the hell was the culprit thinking of? How could she be so bold as to attempt to pull this off in the hospital? Besides, the patient is related to Young Master Li. Isn’t she courting death with her actions?” the doctor wondered aloud.
Clutching to Li Qingcang’s hand, Ye Tianxin muttered, “Brother Li, I know who it is. It must be Qin Lili!”
Qin Lili had worked as a nurse in the past, and it was possible that she had friends working in this hospital.
While all visitors to the ICU, including Ye Tianxin, had to be registered, one could be excused from such measures if one was brought in by a hospital staff.
“Here’s the footage,” a nurse announced as she put the laptop in front of Ye Tianxin and Li Qingcang. Everything that Qin Lili had done in the ICU was captured by the surveillance camera.
“Young Master Li, we’ve already alerted the police,” the doctor notified. However, Li Qingcang didn’t respond as he sat on the chair, contemplating.
“We also identified the head nurse who brought that lady into the ward. Young Master Li, how do you want us to proceed?” the doctor inquired.
When Li Qingcang heard this, he casually picked up a porcelain cup and threw it at the wall across from him.
Pieces of broken porcelain were everywhere, and all the hospital staff were shocked, speechless.
“Do I also have to teach you how to eat?” Li Qingcang angrily replied.
“No...no,” the doctor stuttered, and beads of sweat broke out on his forehead.
“Sir, I didn’t know she would do such a thing!” a voice interrupted. It was the head nurse who had brought Qin Lili into the ward. She nearly passed out when she heard of what Qin Lili had done, for she never expected her to have the audacity to do such a thing.
‘How dare she remove the patient’s oxygen mask and turn the device off? Why the f*** does she have to implicate me with her actions? I worked hard to get to where I am now. If I got fired because of this incident, no other hospital in the country would ever hire me again. I’ll never be able to work in the medical field anymore!’ she fumed silently.
“Jiao Hu, how could you? I can’t believe you played a part in this. I expected so much from you. This is poor judgment on your part. I’ll report this incident to the hospital, and we’ll make sure that disciplinary actions are carried out. In the meantime, please turn over your duties to someone else,” the head nurse’s superintendent chided.
The head nurse was clearly not expecting to be in hot water when all she had done was to help an old acquaintance.
“But...but, Sir!” she protested indignantly. However, her superintendent waved her off impatiently and said, “You better consult a lawyer about your legal responsibilities.”
When the head nurse heard this, she felt as though she was strangled by an invisible hand and she staggered backward feebly, sliding down the wall. ‘I’m done. It’s all over!’ she thought.
