Chapter 1127 - She Was a Third Party to Their Marriage
Chapter 1127 She Was a Third Party to Their Marriage
“Shanyue, I’m very sorry. The call could have been from me. I’m really sorry. I didn’t know it would cause you two so much trouble back then.”
Xie Xuning recalled those days. He realized that he could have been the one who called Qie Wang that night. He didn’t know that Yan Shanyue was pregnant at that time. It would’ve been unforgivable if he was the caller. He would never forgive himself if that caused Yan Shanyue to want a divorce.
Yan Shanyue’s voice was calm. “No, you couldn’t have called. The caller was a woman.”
There was only one woman who would make Qie Wang do anything without any hesitationLi Zhiwei.
Li Zhiwei looked at Yan Shanyue and Qie Wang nervously. “I’m sorry, Shanyue. It might have been me. I had no idea you were pregnant then. I’m…” She sounded truly remorseful.
“It’s got nothing to do with you, Li Zhiwei. This marriage is over because the problem lies in both of us. I won’t blame anyone else for it. I know it’s my husband’s fault. I don’t blame anyone but ourselves for how things have turned out.”
Qie Wang hung his head low. He did not understand why she was doing that. He remembered Yan Shanyue acting normal the last time he went home. She had packed his clothes for him. She was even telling him about their relatives’ children getting married and how much they should prepare as gifts.
Why did she suddenly want a divorce? He certainly did not see it coming.
“Linlang, why don’t you talk with Shanyue?”
Xie Xuning grabbed Qie Wang’s arm and pulled him into his office.
“Xie Xuning, what are you doing? I want to talk to Shanyue and know what exactly she’s thinking. Will being apart make you happy?” Xie Xuning pushed Qie Wang onto his chair and stared down at him sternly. “Qie Wang, do you not know why Yan Shanyue wants a divorce?” Qie Wang stared at him blankly. He was clueless.
“Why?” He seriously thought that there was something wrong with Yan Shanyue asking for a divorce after all these years. Their marriage was perfectly all right.
“It’s because you don’t love her at all. The most important woman in your life is not her.”
Qie Wang was indignant when he heard that. He kicked the table hard. “How can I not love her? I can’t possibly tell her ‘I love you’ every day like those youngsters.”
“Let me ask you this then, when was the last time you hugged her? Have you kissed her or made love to her recently? How long was it since you last gave her gifts or praise? Have you been spending time with her alone? Do you bring her out to watch a movie? How long has it been since you took a picture with her?”
Xie Xuning fired a string of questions at Qie Wang who struggled to recall those times. He was left speechless.
Qie Wang thought about it solemnly. It did seem like long ago that they were just coexisting. There was harmony at home, but that was all. They seemed to be only husband and wife in name.
“Xuning, do you mean that she is divorcing me because she thinks that I have neglected her? Aren’t most couples like that? We have been together for so long, and we’ve become family over time. You and Linlang are an exception, but that’s because you have been apart for so many years. If you have spent so many years living together, you’ll soon get sick of each other, no matter how beautiful you think she is.”
