Chapter 1247: Li Zhiwei Is Dead (3)
Li Zhiwei was silent; she didn’t know what to say. She was reluctant, but she would leave this place.
She sat on the couch and started sobbing with her hands on her face.
Qie Wang’s heart ached as he saw her trying to control her sobs. He didn’t know how t describe what he was feeling.
“Qie Wang, can I hug you for a little bit?”
Qie Wang stretched out his hands and pulled Li Zhiwei toward her.
She smiled.
“Thank you, Qie Wang.”
However, Li Zhiwei only hugged Qie Wang briefly. She then quickly pushed him away, stood up, and walked toward the lift.
Qie Wang looked blankly at the lift, crestfallen.
Qie Wang realized that he had been too cold-hearted and indifferent toward Li Zhiwei just now.
He thought about how much Li Zhiwei had been drinking. What if she met with an accident while driving?
After gathering his thoughts, Qie Wang decided to go after Li Zhiwei and ran downstairs. He saw her driving off in her car from a distance.
He called after her. “Zhiwei, Li Zhiwei.”
He blamed himself for bidding farewell to her in such a cold manner.
Without hesitation, he drove out to look for her.
Not long after, there was a traffic jam on the road that prevented the cars from moving.
Qie Wang asked the driver of the car next to him, “Hey, what happened in front?”
The man pointed to the front. “There is an accident.”
“An accident?”
Qie Wang’s heart pounded faster. He removed his seatbelt and ran out of the car.
“Move aside!”
After a mad dash, Qie Wang came to a sudden stop. He saw Li Zhiwei’s car turned to its side on one side of the road.
“Zhiwei.” He called out softly.
“Zhiwei.”
Someone tried to block his way and grabbed him. “Stay back.”
“Let go of me!”
Qie Wang shouted and broke free from the crowd.
Just then, there was an explosion and the car was engulfed in flames.
Qie Wang’s heart skipped a beat.
The flames were dancing in front of him as the fire got bigger.
“Zhiwei.”
“Zhiwei.”
Soon the fire engines arrived and they managed to put out the fire.
A charred body was being carried out from the car. Qie Wang rushed over and stared at it in disbelief.
His hands trembling, he fumbled and took out his phone from his pocket. Qie Wang quickly dialed Xie Xuning’s number.
“Xuning, Zhiwei is dead.” His voice was shaking.
Xie Xuning was woken up in the middle of the night by Qie Wang’s call. He jumped up as he heard what Qie Wang said.
“Are you sure? Are you dreaming? Did you drink too much?”
Qie Wang’s face was pale. He stammered, “No, it’s true. She died in a car accident. I’m now at the scene of the accident. It’s all my fault. She looked upset just now but I didn’t notice. I didn’t want to talk to her because I blamed her for my divorce. Xuning, I killed her.”
Xie Xuning quickly put on his clothes. He woke Ye Linlang up. “Dear, I need to go out for a while.”
“Now?”
Ye Linlang was still half-asleep. She rubbed her eyes and looked at the time.
It was very late at night.
Xie Xuning nodded. “Yes, right away. Qie Wang is drunk. He’s talking nonsense. I have to go and take a look at him myself.”
Xie Xuning bent down and kissed Ye Linlang on the forehead.
“Be good, go to sleep.”
Ye Linlang wrapped her hands around his neck and mumbled, “Don’t drive yourself. Ask the driver to send you there. Drive slowly. Don’t be too anxious. Be careful.”
