Chapter 590 - Nian Xi Said that Your Thoughts Might Run Wild
Luosang felt a little comforted. At least there were people on her side. But she couldn’t bring herself to smile at the thought of Leng Shuangwei. “What about Leng Shuangwei... What about the rest of her life?” Luosang stuttered, “If I was not with your brother, perhaps all this wouldn’t have happened, and she wouldn’t have gotten injured.”
At the mention of Leng Shuangwei, Nian Xi felt bad, too. They had all grown up together, after all. Although she was jealous of her because of Ji Chuan, she knew that Shuangwei never fancied Ji Chuan that way. She did sacrifice herself to save her grandma, too.
“Sang, you must understand that my brother and Shuangwei are in the past now. If he was forced to marry her to express his gratitude, he would never be happy for the rest of his life. My brother has a problem there. Shuangwei will have to be alone for the rest of her life. That’s not fair to her, either,” Nian Xi said.
Luosang agreed with her, but she couldn’t shake off the guilt. Back at the apartment, she laid in bed and tossed and turned. She just couldn’t fall asleep. When it was finally light outside, she heard a knock at the door.
She quickly opened the door, and Nian Junting was standing in the doorway. She could tell that he hadn’t slept the entire night. His clothes were creased, and he had dark circles under his eyes. He was carrying a few bags of food.
“Why are you here so early, Junting?” Luosang felt bad when she saw how tired he looked.
“Nian Xi said that your thoughts might run wild, so I came over early.” Nian Junting walked into the apartment and closed the door. He put the breakfast down and looked down at her face. She didn’t look like she had had a proper rest, either.
“You didn’t sleep well?” Nian Junting lifted her small face. Even though his woman looked beautiful even with dark eye circles, he couldn’t bear the thought of her having insomnia.
“How could I sleep?” Luosang grimaced. “How are Leng Shuangwei and your grandma?”
“My grandma will be discharged later.” Nian Junting reached out and hugged her. “Shuangwei isn’t awake yet, but she will be. She hasn’t pulled through the critical phase.”
“I thought she wasn’t in danger anymore.” Luosang lifted her chin off of his sturdy chest and looked at him.
“She took a stab to her abdomen, after all. Although she isn’t in mortal danger now, it will take her a while to slowly recover. The doctors are monitoring her constantly.” Nian Junting frowned.
Luosang looked at him for a while. She could sense his annoyance that he was trying to hide from her. She finally asked, “She really can’t get pregnant in the future?”
Nian Junting grunted and confirmed it, saying, “That has got nothing to do with you.”
“How has it got nothing to do with me?” Luosang pushed him away. Her eyes were filled with sorrow. “Zhong Yi was out there to hurt me, but she hurt innocent people instead. She should have stabbed me instead.”
“It’s all Miao Zheng’s fault. If he hadn’t abused her, she wouldn’t have been so extreme.” Nian Junting grabbed her shoulders tightly. His face was ash-gray. “If you really want to pinpoint the blame, it should be Yi Jingxi’s fault. It’s got nothing to do with you. Don’t forget how deeply they hurt you in the past.”
“Ever since I got together with Yi Jingxi, everyone around me kept getting hurt. My dad, me, Professor Ma. At last, when I met you, I thought my life had taken a turn for the better. You shielded me from all sorts of things, but look at how things turned out now. I put you through this.” Luosang buried her face in his chest and said, “It’s Zhong Yi this time, but it might be Yi Jingxi going berserk next time.”
