Chapter 951 - She Looks Pretty Even When She’s a Mess

Nian Xi nodded her head. She had heard about this before, so she wasn’t surprised. She still wondered if he was able to lecture given his personality. She shook her head and thought, Forget it. I’m not going to think about it.

Since he asked Uncle Han to come over, he was making things clear. She also made herself clear that day. They wouldn’t have anything to do with each other anymore.

After snacking, Nian Xi went back to her office to monitor the surveillance footage. This sort of detective work was the most labor-intensive and dry. It required her to be attentive and focused. She worked until around 11 p.m.

“I found it,” Chen Jing happily said. “This should be the suspect. Look, his figure and his features are almost identical.”

“Hmm, great.” Nian Xi nodded her head. Her eyes were sore from watching the screen. “Hand it over to Captain. We’re done here.”

Around midnight, Nian Xi left the station. When she got in her car, she looked around warily. She could sense someone watching her. After looking around for a long while, she couldn’t spot anything amiss so she drove off.

...

After her car pulled away, the car window of a black sedan parked nearby lowered.

“Mister, you gave up your right to sue Yilang Oda and waited here for eight hours just to catch a glimpse of her? Is it worth it?” Uncle Han asked with a sigh.

Jiang Yuning looked out the window in a daze. After nearly a minute, he wrote on his notepad, “She looks pretty even when she’s a mess.”

Uncle Han was surprised that was all he was thinking about after everything he had said. Miss Nian looked tired and unkempt.

“I heard from the people working at the station that Miss Nian is doing video detective work now,” he said. “It’s an extremely dry and tiresome job. She has to work overtime often. I think Miss Nian is quite exhausted.”

Jiang Yuning nodded his head and wrote, “I can’t bear to watch her suffer.”

Uncle Han sighed. He didn’t know what else to say. “If you can’t let her go, you should court her bravely.”

Jiang Yuning shook his head sadly and wrote, “I can’t, she told me that she hasn’t forgotten her ex-boyfriend. What if she’s unhappy when she’s with me?”

Uncle Han was stunned. How could there be anyone so silly? He said, “It’s normal to go after someone that you like.”

Jiang Yuning wrote, “If she doesn’t like me, I will only burden her with my feelings.”

Uncle Han was silent.

Jiang Yuning continued writing. “I’ll wait. If she gets back together with her ex-boyfriend and they’re happy, I’ll give her my blessings. If they don’t end up together, I will go look for her. I won’t let her be lonely.”

Uncle Han’s heart ached. If Miss Nian knew his thoughts, she would be very touched.

“How could you bear to withstand the hurt by yourself?” he asked.

Jiang Yuning thought for a moment and wrote, “It’s OK if I’m hurt. I just don’t want her to be unhappy.”

Uncle Han had only one word in his mind: silly.

When Nian Xi got home and opened the door, a small shadow ran toward her and happily barked.

“Jiang-jiang!” Nian Xi patted the puppy’s head.

Jiang-jiang raised its head and looked at her pitifully. Its tail was wagging.

Nian Xi picked the puppy up. She felt melancholic. Someone like Jiang Yuning was destined to by a passer-by in her life.

...

A week later, the nanny van was downstairs. Yan Su got into the vehicle.

Jiaojiao looked at her and said, “You’ve gained some weight.”

Yan Su blushed.
