Chapter 1609 A Turn Of Events
When Huo Yao got to the lake, Lu Xia was already waiting there and about to lose her patience.
"I thought you wouldn't dare to show up." Lu Xia laughed softly.
Since no one else was nearby, she did not bother keeping up the pretense.
"Give me the phone." Huo Yao looked at Lu Xia without the slightest warmth in her eyes.
Huo Yao always looked calm and collected. Now that Lu Xia finally managed to squeeze a reaction out of her, she could not help feeling gratified.
"Why did you stop pretending? I thought you always acted holier than thou." Lu Xia smiled in disdain.
Huo Yao simply looked at Lu Xia coldly.
Lu Xia scoffed again. She naturally knew why Huo Yao was incapable of keeping her calm.
Lu Xia flung her sleeve and took out a thick black phone from her pocket unhurriedly.
The moment Huo Yao saw the phone, she was promptly triggered and the murderous look in her eyes surged wildly.
The phone belonged to Old Madam Yang.
She was unable to find it last year.
Lu Xia failed to detect the murderous aura radiating from Huo Yao. She tossed the phone in mid-air. "You must be very angry now. You must want to snatch this phone desperately, right?"
"Do you want to die?" Huo Yao narrowed her eyes with some stray hair on her eyes making her look even more threatening.
Lu Xia was unintimidated. Instead, she felt gratified.
She really wanted to see Huo Yao lose her cool.
The angrier Huo Yao got, the more satisfied Lu Xia felt.
Lu Xia smiled coldly inside as she took a couple of steps toward the lake.
She turned to look at Huo Yao and said, "Oh yes. I nearly forgot to mention this. Granny left a voice recording on this phone for you."
"No. To be precise, those were her last words." Lu Xia shook her head as she tutted softly.
"Sadly, you won't have the chance to hear them anymore."
The moment she finished her sentence, Lu Xia's face stiffened as she tossed the phone into the lake hard.
From a distance, the phone could be heard falling into the water with a plonk.
Huo Yao's eyes turned dark and looked as though a nerve in her was on the verge of snapping.
It was the last thing her grandmother had left for her.
Huo Yao's eyes turned bloodshot and nearly jumped into the lake without hesitation.
Lu Xia was waiting for this moment. Before Huo Yao jumped into the lake, she lunged at her and pinned her to the ground.
At the same time, she took out the syringe containing drugs and stabbed it into Huo Yao.
"You asked for this." Lu Xia laughed coldly as she pushed the syringe plunger.
After she was done, she stood up from the ground and even stopped looking at Huo Yao.
She took out her phone and wanted to call someone over.
Just as she was about to press dial, someone unexpectedly regained consciousness and jumped up.
Lu Xia was in shock and her phone fell to the ground. Her eyes widened in disbelief. "You…"
Huo Yao reached her hand out and grabbed Lu Xia by the throat. "Did you want to drug me? Didn't they tell you? I'm immune to all drugs."
Lu Xia was still reeling under shock and had trouble hearing Huo Yao.
As Huo Yao tightened her grip on Lu Xia's neck, Lu Xia's face turned red.
It was futile to struggle. She had trouble breathing and Lu Xia could sense death on her doorstep.
Just when she thought she was about to die from asphyxiation, the hand on her neck unexpectedly loosened.
