Chapter 114 - Night Visit to Fu Shou Inn

Chapter 114: Night Visit to Fu Shou Inn

Gazing at the flashing neon lights outside, Fike stood up and walked toward the window.

Again, he channeled the power of the Divine Body and shifted most of it to his eyes as his vision stretched to reach the Fu Shou Inn.

He spotted a tall and imposing carriage parked at the entrance. An old man dressed in grandiose clothes stepped gracefully out of the carriage. He seemed to have an extraordinary temperament.

“Zakaithus!”

Fike exclaimed.

Lan Xi walked toward him at this moment, caressing his shoulder.

“I know this person… He’s the Minister of the Northern Headquarters of the Heavenly King’s Palace.”

“What do you think of his strength? How does he compare to Caesar?”

Fike asked in return.

“I’ve often heard of this person from guests at the auction house. This man has never shown off his strength in front of ordinary people.

“But I’ve heard that his strength is much superior to Caesar’s. They say he may even be on par with the current leader of the Heavenly King’s Palace. He’s a ruthless character.”

Lan Xi’s expression suddenly shifted as she asked worriedly.

“What? Darling, don’t tell me you’re thinking of provoking him!”

Fike smiled and shook his head before he continued.

“How can that be? I just thought I’d sneak into the Fu Shou Inn later to see what their real purpose for coming here is.

“I don’t believe that a dead Caesar calls for the arrival of an entire brigade from the Northern Headquarters.”

Hearing this, Lan Xi stuck herself to Fike’s back and pouted.

“Can you not go? I’m afraid something will happen to you.”

Fike turned his head and looked back at her with a gentle gaze.

“It won’t. Don’t worry, I know what to do!”

Fike lowered his head to kiss Lan Xi.

After snuggling briefly, Fike changed into a black suit and prepared to go out.

“Come back soon,” Lan Xi called, “I’ll be waiting for you here!”

Fike flew out of the window of the hotel and treated lightly on the eaves of the Fu Shou Village.

In a short while, he had arrived at the low, sloping roof of the Fu Shou Inn. He looked down to see that the entrance was swarmed with guards from the Heavenly King’s Palace.

The carriage he had seen earlier was pulling away into the distance as well.

“It looks like there’s no way to break through the main entrance!”

Fike muttered lightly.

He flashed to the eaves of another short building as he searched for a way to enter the inn from between the buildings.

Finally, unsuccessful, he found his way back to the Fu Shou Inn. Fike saw that the number of guards gathered had slightly decreased.

He had just been about to attack with a controlled fireball as a notification abruptly arrived from the hidden message.

[Hidden Information: If you want to put these people to sleep, you can use the Heart-capturing Flute. Blow on it, and all creatures will obey your commands.]

Fike only remembered that he possessed such a tool after reading the hidden message’s reminder.

He took out the Heart-capturing Flute from his backpack as he muttered to himself.

“I’ve never used this treasure I received from the Demon Prince-tier Exotic Beast… It looks like I’ll be testing its power today.”

Fike held up the flute in his hands and blew it gently into it.

A melodious sound was produced that floated in the wind over to the guards stationed at the entrance.

As they heard the soft melody, the eyes of the guards blurred.

Seeing their reaction, Fike whispered.

“Sleep for me!”

As soon as he said it, the guards fell to the ground and Fike swaggered into the inn.

Through the window of the back door, he noticed that there were still many guards patrolling back and forth.

If he continued using this method, he would probably attract unwanted attention to himself.

As he stared at the outer wall of the Fu Shou Inn, a bold idea started to hatch in his mind.

“If the whole place is reserved, then Zakaithus must be staying in the best room on the top floor.”

Fike thought to himself.

He scaled the walls layer after layer, silently creeping his way up.

It was already late at night, so there was no one on the streets under the moonlight.

Fike himself slunk in a shadowy corner of the wall where no light could reach him and moved slowly.

There were 18 floors in total at the Fu Shou Inn, and Fike had already reached the 17th floor.

His sharp ears soon picked up a dull and familiar voice.

The speaker was none other than Zakaithus.

“How far have we progressed?”

“My lord, all the people in the Imperial Capital are now henchmen of the Northern Headquarters. Even if Cado wanted to eliminate them, it’s too late now.”

“Very good! After we take down the Imperial Capital, I will reward you generously when we return!”

Fike was leaning heavily against the wall of the eighteenth floor as he tried his best to restrain his breathing, quietly eavesdropping into the conversation in the room.

“But, sir, the murderer of Sir Caesar’s death…”

After a moment of silence, the man spoke again.

“For many years, Caesar has been like a son to me. I am also incredibly saddened by his death, but the murderer behind this is not someone we can take revenge on, do you understand?”

“Could it be someone from the Main Hall?”

“No, the people from the Main Hall are not stupid enough to intentionally send people to assassinate their own. At least for now, we can still be considered as their people.”

At this moment, Fike slowly shifted, moving himself to the corner of a window to watch the scene in the room.

He spotted Zakaithus sitting upright on the sofa, and in front of him stood a character that seemed to be a staff officer from the Heavenly King’s Palace.

“When my Lord takes down the Imperial City, won’t we have a chance to launch a counterattack against the Main Hall?”

“Exactly!”

Zakaithus declared confidently.

“All credit should go to the Evil God’s Headquarters. If it hadn’t been for their great help, we wouldn’t have been able to spread our spies throughout the entire Imperial City of Rowei in such a short time.”

“Looks like the world is about to change hands! Saru wishes our future king a great victory!”

Fike was perplexed. He had absolutely no idea what the two people in the room were talking about.

As his eyes were still narrowed in confusion, Zakaithus suddenly proclaimed loudly.

“My friend outside! Why don’t you come in and have a cup of tea with me? Why are you eavesdropping on such a high wall?”

Immediately after saying this, he launched the teacup in his hand straight at the window.

Fike could clearly feel the intense surge of killing intent and dodged the sudden attack, taking a step back. Zakaithus continued to speak.

“Even if your excellency refuses to show up, the 100,000 elite soldiers of the Heavenly King’s Palace lying in ambush in this village are not people you can afford to provoke!”

Under the pressure of Zakaithus, Fike hesitated, not knowing if he should run or stay.

Finally, with confidence that he himself didn’t know where came from, he entered the room.

Seeing Fike, Zakaithus’ expression became relaxed.

He said calmly.

“I don’t think you look like someone from the Heavenly King’s Palace. You were sent by Lord Cado, right?”
