3859 Men Have Sorrow and Joy; They Part or Meet Again 9
“Who is it?”
The mysterious look on Zhixin’s face sparked Huo Mian’s curiosity.
“Sis, I saw Dad across from the Civil Administration Bureau today...” Zhixin sounded excited when he recalled the scene.
“Dad?”
Huo Mian thought something was wrong with her ears so she asked Zhixin to repeat himself.
“Yeah, Dad. It’s Dad... He looked just like himself in the past. He was wearing that black leather jacket and light grey pants,” Zhixin elaborated with stark enthusiasm as he grabbed onto Huo Mian’s hands.
“That’s impossible, Zhixin. What are you talking about? Uncle Jing died many years ago,” Huo Mian said in a trembling voice.
All these years, she felt the guiltiest about Jing De’s death since she used to think it was her fault.
That was why she broke up with Qin Chu, despite it hurting her so much. They had almost lost each other because of this.
Whenever someone brought this up, Huo Mian would be rattled.
“Sis, but I really saw him...”
“Where is he now?”
“I chased after him, but he vanished before my eyes.”
“In front of the Civil Administration Bureau?”
“Yeah. He was across from it. Even though I only saw one side of him, I’m certain that was Dad,” Zhixin ascertained with great excitement.
“But Zhixin, you do know that Uncle Jing died many years ago...”
“Sis, I know. Mom and I watched Dad’s body cremate.”
“So you shouldn’t be so foolish! How can someone resurrect from the death? This isn’t a sci-fi story,” Huo Mian said as her chest started to ache.
“Sis, I have a bold idea. Do you think that Dad has a twin brother?”
“That’s impossible. How would you not know Uncle Jing’s siblings? You too know that his siblings don’t contact us anymore... Even if he did, he wouldn’t suddenly come look for us after all these years. Maybe it’s just a look-a-like,” Huo Mian conjectured.
“That’s too big of a coincidence. How can that person also wear the same type of clothing that Dad used to like. Sis, I don’t believe in coincidences. I just think Dad is back...”
Jing Zhixin’s words made Huo Mian get goosebumps in broad daylight.
Someone resurrecting from the death seemed so far fetched.
Maybe it was a woman’s sixth sense – Huo Mian felt something bad was going to happen.
Just like the elderly used to say, if you see a ghost, you won’t have much longer to live because only the dead can see what ordinary people can’t see.
“Zhixin, did Bella see him or were you the only one that saw?” Huo Mian grabbed onto her brother’s hand and asked in a low voice. Her hand had turned ice cold.
“Bella doesn’t know our dad. I didn’t notice if anyone else saw him. I’m absolutely certain that it wasn’t a hallucination. I saw him,” Zhixin ascertained. Afterall, he loved his father.
“Zhixin, don’t tell Mom this yet.”
“I know. She won’t be able to handle it.”
“Okay. I’ll talk to Chu about this. We’ll go get the surveillance footage from that street corner and look into it.”
“Okay, I trust you Sis. If it really has something to do with Dad, be sure to tell me right away.”
“Okay.”
When they came out, the vegetables were washed.
“What are you two doing sneaking into the study so mysteriously?” Yang Meirong asked.
“Nothing. We were just chatting.” Huo Mian smiled.
“Zhixin, are you asking your sister for money again?” Yang Meirong said as she looked worriedly at her son.
