Chapter 270 - 270: Huo Sicheng Discovers the Truth
“Yes, young master.”
While dining, Huo Sicheng was looking at the two messages sent by Gu
Qingcheng, feeling very good, with the corners of his mouth turning up. Her text messages were always so fierce, but although harsh, they carried her concern for him.
After breakfast, he went to a villa in the suburbs.
Ah Qing cautiously parked the car by the roadside and asked, “Young master, should I drive the car into Mr. Zhao’s house?”
Huo Sicheng didn’t speak, his narrow, slanted eyes dark and deep, gazing towards the distance.
The villa was surrounded by vegetable gardens and flower beds, and a woman wearing a hat was picking vegetables there.
The woman yelled, “Old Zhao, did you buy the fertilizer I asked for? The seedlings need fertilizing.”
“I did, I’ll bring it later,” Mr. Zhao’s voice replied.
“By the way, our son called to say he’ll be back for dinner tomorrow,” the woman continued, “Remember to pick up some extra meat and seafood from the supermarket when you pick up our grandson from school this afternoon.”
Mr. Zhao handed a water cup to his wife, saying, “Seafood needs to be fresh to taste good. I’ll buy it early tomorrow.”
“Okay,” the woman took the cup and drank some water, “By the way, have you been back to the Huo family? Sicheng is busy every day, and Huo Xuan is unsupervised. When you have time, go back and check on the kids.”
Mr. Zhao smiled, “Understood. Stop tending the vegetables, it’s quite sunny, go rest inside.”
“It’s not that hot, I’ll be busy for a bit more,” the woman refused, shaking her head, “These vegetables are growing well. Bring them to Huo’s house when you visit Sicheng and the kids in a few days. These organic vegetables are good for their health.”
Mr. Zhao nodded.
“By the way, how long is your break?” the woman asked, “You said Sicheng gave you some time off, but you’ve been off for too long. The villa will be chaotic without management; it’s best you return soon.” Mr. Zhao: “I know, I know. I’ll help you weed.”
“Okay.”
Huo Sicheng witnessed this scene, his gaze enigmatic and complex.
“Call him, tell him to come here.”
Ah Qing replied, “Yes, young master.”
Mr. Zhao was helping his wife weed when his phone rang. He looked at the caller ID, surprised.
“Who’s calling?” asked the woman.
Mr. Zhao: “It’s Ah Qing. Something must be up at the villa.”
The woman said, “Answer quickly. If there’s an issue at the villa, you should check. Don’t just rest because Sicheng told you to.”
Mr. Zhao didn’t respond, taking his phone and walking away from the vegetable garden.
“Ah Qing, what’s up?
Ah Qing, on speaker, said, “Look to your left and come over.”
Hearing this, Mr. Zhao turned his head to the left and saw Huo Sicheng’s car parked in the distance. His expression complicated, he said, “I understand, I’m coming now.”
Ah Qing hung up, “Young master, Mr. Zhao he…”
Huo Sicheng, coldly, growled, “I heard.”
Ah Qing, startled, realized he had been on speaker and fell silent.
Huo Sicheng looked into the distance, “Drive the car to the reservoir ahead.”
Ah Qing: “Yes, young master.”
After the car stopped, Huo Sicheng got out, gazing at the lake, the cool breeze carrying the scent of water.
Mr. Zhao arrived at the reservoir on his bike, first glancing at Ah Qing, then at Huo Sicheng in the distance.
He parked his bike next to Ah Qing and walked to Huo Sicheng’s side.
Huo Sicheng, looking at the lake, remained silent and expressionless.
Although Huo Sicheng didn’t speak, Mr. Zhao could clearly feel the anger emanating from the young master.
The surrounding atmosphere was silent and cold to the extreme, as if flames were spreading in the air, ready to burn everything around to ashes.
Mr. Zhao didn’t speak.
Neither did Huo Sicheng.
Finally, Mr. Zhao broke the silence, asking, “Young master, do you have any instructions for me?”
“Nothing in particular,” Huo Sicheng replied indifferently, “I came to see you because you surely have something to say to me.”
Mr. Zhao stiffened, his tone gentle yet respectful, “Young master dismissed me, so I spend my days at home with my grandson, accompanying my wife in gardening, leading a peaceful life without meddling in any affairs. I have nothing to say to you.”
“Don’t play dumb when you know better,” Huo Sicheng frowned, “You know why I’m here.”
Mr. Zhao’s eyes showed panic, his hands clenching and unclenching, revealing his struggle to control his emotions.
“I don’t know.”
Huo Sicheng’s dark, slender eyes frosted over, “What did you tell Gu Qingcheng at the children’s amusement park!”
Mr. Zhao, restraining his emotions, his face slightly twisted, “I didn’t see the lady.”
Huo Sicheng’s entire demeanor radiated a chilling hostility.
“I’ll give you another chance to answer me.”
Mr. Zhao turned pale, overwhelmed by Huo Sicheng’s imposing aura lost his steady footing.
His body shook uncontrollably, and his mouth quivered for a long time without saying a word.
Huo Sicheng’s angular face was icy, his slanted eyes filled with piercing coldness.
He remained silent, seemingly waiting for Mr. Zhao to confess.
Mr. Zhao, clenching his teeth, appeared determined not to tell Huo Sicheng what he had done.
However, his resolve didn’t last long under Huo Sicheng’s forceful presence.
“Yes, I did see the lady,” he finally spoke, his eyes devoid of guilt or remorse, only disdain and anger for Gu Qingcheng, “I told her that every year on that day, the young master goes abroad to see Miss Li.”
Huo Sicheng’s hands, resting on the armrest of his wheelchair, clenched into fists at Mr. Zhao’s words.
Mr. Zhao continued, “The lady has long known about Miss Li’s existence. She asked me about Miss Li more than once, but I never told her anything until that day at the amusement park. I told her you go abroad to see Miss Li, who has always been first in your heart. I wanted her to back off.”
Huo Sicheng’s clenched fists turned white.
“Young master, Gu Qingcheng doesn’t deserve you,” Mr. Zhao, fearless, looked at Huo Sicheng’s back, “Even if you don’t end up with Miss Li, any young lady from Jiangcheng’s prominent families would be more suitable for the Huo family than Gu Qingcheng, with their knowledge, gentleness, and virtue.
“Gu Qingcheng is arrogant and rash, unsuitable for the Huo family. No household in Jiangcheng would marry her into their family.
“Young master, I’ve watched you grow up. I hope you marry someone more suitable than Gu Qingcheng.”
Huo Sicheng, coldly, “What kind of woman do you think is worthy of me?”
