Chapter 351 - 351: I Want You Tonight
She blamed herself for making Huo Xuan cry and was even more angry at Huo Sicheng.
Huo Sicheng had slept with Miss Li, completely disregarding her existence as his wife.
Despite being married for so long, she had never slept with Huo Sicheng.
In fact, she had never even seen Huo Sicheng fully undressed.
Yet, he spent two nights with Miss Li and only returned to Jiang City to see her on the third day.
She was very bothered by Huo Sicheng’s actions and remembered every detail.
However, she couldn’t take her anger out on her son and wanted to give him a harmonious family.
Huo Xuan cried, “Mommy…”
“Baby, don’t apologize to Mommy. Rest assured, Mommy won’t hit Daddy, scold him, or argue with him. You can relax,” Gu Qingcheng said softly, comforting Huo Xuan despite her inner pain. “Mommy will keep her word. Be good, don’t cry.”
She gently wiped Huo Xuan’s tears with a tissue.
Hearing his mother’s words, Huo Xuan cried even harder.
His mother was not angry at him, willing not to argue with his father, compromising for his sake and their family’s peace.
He couldn’t bear to see his mother upset, but he also didn’t want her to fight with his father at home.
Now, he blamed himself for everything that had gone wrong.
“Mommy…”
“I’m here,” Gu Qingcheng said tenderly, holding Huo Xuan in one arm and wiping his tears with the other. “Mommy knows how sad you are, and understands why you didn’t tell me for so long. You wanted to avoid a fight between Mommy and Daddy for the sake of our family’s harmony. Mommy understands your intentions.”
“I’m sorry,” Huo Xuan cried remorsefully. “I’m sorry, Mommy. I hurt you. I betrayed you.”
Gu Qingcheng felt anger towards Huo Sicheng, but her heart ached more for her son.
“Baby, you haven’t let Mommy down, nor have you hurt or betrayed me,” she comforted Huo Xuan. “Be good, don’t cry anymore. Mommy is not angry with you, nor with Daddy.”
She continued to console Huo Xuan as he cried in her arms.
She wasn’t very good at comforting people and felt a bit clumsy trying to soothe Huo Xuan.
“Baby, the recent cold war between your father and me was over him being with a woman at a hotel abroad,” she said frankly to Huo Xuan. “But your father and I have made up. Otherwise, Mommy wouldn’t have told you today to come home for dinner, waiting for Daddy. Be good, Mommy and Daddy have reconciled. We won’t fight, so don’t worry.”
Huo Xuan, listening to his mother, asked with a choked voice, “Really? Mommy and Daddy really won’t fight?”
“Really, we won’t fight,” Gu Qingcheng assured Huo Xuan sincerely. “I just told you, the argument between me and your father was over this. When you mentioned it today, I was surprised that you knew and asked you a few more questions. I didn’t mean to scare you, baby.”
Huo Xuan, seeing his mother’s serious and concerned expression, knew she wouldn’t lie to him.
“Mommy, you can’t lie to the baby.”
“I’m not lying to the baby,” Gu Qingcheng said earnestly. “If you don’t believe me, wait and see. Mommy will cook Daddy’s favorite dishes, and then we’ll wait for him to come home. I promise to be gentle with Daddy, no fighting or arguing. We can even sleep together tonight, and you can join us.”
“I believe every word Mommy says,” Huo Xuan sobbed. “It’s good if Mommy and Daddy don’t fight. Our family should be happy and harmonious.”
“Not just harmonious, but also happy,” Gu Qingcheng kissed Huo Xuan’s little face. “Now that Mommy has said this, you’re not crying anymore, right? Are you a little happier?”
“Yes,” Huo Xuan’s eyes brimmed with tears but did not fall. His sad expression turned to happiness and joy. “I’m happy.”
Seeing Huo Xuan finally stop crying, Gu Qingcheng sighed with relief.
“My baby is the best.”
Inside Wanmei Villa, Gu Qingcheng was in the kitchen washing and chopping vegetables, while Huo Xuan sat nearby watching her.
Soon, a homely dinner was served, six dishes and one soup, a very lavish meal.
Huo Xuan glanced at the clock on the wall. It was already 7:30 pm. Looking at his mother setting the table, he said, “Daddy hasn’t come back yet. Mommy, why don’t you call him and ask when he’ll be home?”
“Who said I’m not back?” Huo Sicheng’s voice, deep and resonant like a cello, rang out.
Huo Xuan’s small body trembled slightly. He quickly turned around and saw his father, dressed in a suit, sitting in a wheelchair, his eyes filled with tenderness as he looked towards them.
Huo Xuan quickly looked at his mother. Her eyes, full of tender love, were fixed on his father, showing no signs of anger.
He let out a long, relieved breath. Mommy said she wouldn’t argue with Daddy, and she kept her word. He admired his mother’s honesty and relaxed as she didn’t get angry.
Hearing Huo Sicheng’s voice, Gu Qingcheng’s heart trembled. Endless anger, bitterness, and pain filled her chest.
She had been intimate with him during the day, but at night, all she felt was the pain he brought her.
But she had promised her son not to argue with Huo Sicheng. Even if she really wanted to argue with Huo Sicheng, she wouldn’t do it in front of her son.
She couldn’t let Huo Xuan, who had unintentionally revealed Huo Sicheng’s private information, be scared because of her own sadness. So she took a few deep breaths to calm herself.
“Welcome home, husband,” she put down her chopsticks, walked over to Huo Sicheng, smiled gently, and kissed his cheek. “You must be tired today.” Huo Sicheng was visibly surprised by Gu Qingcheng’s unusual intimacy that evening.
Usually, a simple ‘welcome home’ from her would satisfy and make him happy for days. But today, she kissed his face, creating a particularly warm and romantic atmosphere.
“It wasn’t tiring,” he took her hand, gently stroking her palm with his fingertips, his voice tender and caring. “You worked hard preparing a whole table of dishes.”
“If you’re concerned about my hard work, eat more tonight,” Gu Qingcheng smiled sweetly, then looked at Huo Xuan. “Baby, come and sit down. Mommy will get a cold dish.”
“Okay, Mommy,” Huo Xuan replied.
Gu Qingcheng, feeling the warmth of Huo Sicheng’s palm, looked at him, her heart feeling both blocked and painful.
She withdrew her hand from his and smiled at him. “I’ll bring the dish, and then we’ll have dinner.”
“Okay,” Huo Sicheng agreed.
At this moment, Huo Xuan watched his mother go to the kitchen to get the dish, hesitating for a few seconds before turning to his father.
“Daddy, I’ve caused trouble.”
Huo Sicheng, still immersed in Gu Qingcheng’s tenderness, turned to his son upon hearing his words.
“What trouble have you caused?” he asked Huo Xuan..
