Chapter 390 - 390: Gu Qingcheng is Missing
Chapter 390 - 390: Gu Qingcheng is Missing
The bustling city woke up, bathed in pleasant sunshine, promising a new day full of hope.
Lu Chi, wearing a deep blue suit and sporting a short, stylish haircut, his handsome face defined by sharp features, was marked by a slender scar, adding a touch of wildness to his appearance.
His eyes were cold, tinged with a hint of world-weariness, and his tall figure exuded elegance. With hands in his pockets, he walked into the hospital like a graceful young nobleman.
“Where is everyone?” he asked the people sent to the hospital. “Is Gu Tianhao really going to die?”
“Miss Gu has not come to the hospital,” a subordinate respectfully answered Lu Chi’s question, and added, “Gu Tianhao has been in a coma for several days and has not woken up.”
Lu Chi’s eyebrows furrowed, and he took out his phone to dial Gu Qingcheng’s number.
“Sorry, the number you have dialed is turned off.”
Hearing the cold voice of the system, his eyes grew colder.
“Has anyone special appeared at Gu Tianhao’s side?”
The subordinate replied, “Everything is as Miss Gu instructed. Apart from Bai
Si and the doctors treating Gu Tianhao, no one else is allowed near him.”
He paused and then reported to Lu Chi, “Bai Si and Qin Chong had a fight because Bai Si wouldn’t go home from the hospital. Qin Chong wanted to see Gu Tianhao but was stopped by Bai Si. Bai Si mentioned Gu Qingcheng’s request, and Qin Chong left in a rage after a heated argument, unable to do anything about Miss Gu’s arrangements.
“Also, Chu He came to the hospital, cried for an hour, then scolded Bai Si for an hour. After that, no outsiders have visited Gu Tianhao, and Miss Gu has not been here either.”
Lu Chi’s brows deepened, and he said gravely, “Take me to the surveillance room, and then send someone to find Gu Qingcheng.”
“Yes, Young Master Lu.”
Lu Chi reviewed the surveillance footage and found no trace of Gu Qingcheng.
His right hand propped his chin, his expression serious and thoughtful.
Although it was a phone call, he clearly heard Gu Qingcheng say she was at the hospital because Gu Tianhao was dying. Her scolding voice still rang in his ears.
Moreover, Gu Qingcheng was very angry at that time. He even returned all the money to her first thing in the morning, so there was no chance he misheard or hallucinated.
Gu Qingcheng indeed called him that morning, berating him and angrily stating she was at the hospital, also scolding him for returning the money.
He didn’t believe Gu Qingcheng would lie to him over such a trivial matter. So, she did come to the hospital, but why wasn’t she captured on surveillance?
“Wait a minute,” he suddenly said, quickly pausing the fast-forwarding surveillance footage. “Why are there missing frames here? It suddenly skips from 50 minutes to 52, then to 54, and here…”
The subordinate came over, shocked, “The surveillance has been tampered with. ”
Lu Chi looked at the surveillance room staff, “Who tampered with the surveillance?”
The staff shook their heads, “No one came.’
Lu Chi didn’t waste words. He gave a look to his subordinate and then turned to leave.
After leaving the surveillance room, he quickly walked to Gu Tianhao’s hospital room, his hand gripping the phone until his knuckles turned white. He dialed Gu Qingcheng’s number again.
The same Al voice told him that Gu Qingcheng’s phone was off.
After repeatedly calling Gu Qingcheng’s number to no avail, he arrived at Gu Tianhao’s hospital room.
He saw Bai Si, wearing a sterile gown, sitting beside Gu Tianhao’s bed.
“Has Gu Tianhao woken up?”
The subordinate at the door respectfully said, “He hasn’t woken up.”
Lu Chi said, “Call Bai Si out.”
“Yes, Young Master Lu.”
After Bai Si came out of the room and removed her sterile gown, she looked at the man with a slender scar on his face, a trace of pity in her eyes.
The man in front of her was very handsome, but the scar marred his face, which was the reason for her pity.
“Who are you?” she asked him gracefully and certainly, “You must be a friend of Qingcheng.”
Lu Chi observed Bai Si’s reaction. She said he was a friend of Gu Qingcheng because others couldn’t get close to Gu Tianhao’s room, but he could stand here.
“Lu Chi, a friend of Gu Qingcheng,” he informed Bai Si. “I’m asking you, did Gu Qingcheng come today?”
Bai Si was surprised to hear the name Lu Chi.
“The eldest young master of the Lu family, I didn’t expect you to be friends with Qingcheng,” she smiled lightly. “However, the high society of Jiang City is small. Qingcheng is the young lady of the Gu family, and it’s normal for you to know her. Just like the Bai family and the Lu family have little to do with each other, yet I met your parents several years ago. Although we weren’t close, I know that the Lu family is very strict, capable of nurturing a dragon among men like Young Master Lu.”
Lu Chi looked at Bai Si. Compared to Qin Chong’s arrogance, Bai Sit s speech was very level-headed, each sentence reflecting a lady’s upbringing.
But he didn’t find Bai Si to hear these idle talks; he needed her to answer his question.
Bai Si looked directly at Lu Chi. Seeing that he didn’t speak, she said,
“Qingcheng left the hospital yesterday morning and hasn’t been back since.”
After a pause, she added to Lu Chi, “As a friend of Qingcheng, you should know she’s participating in the Tao He Cup competition, and she’s also the principal of the Imperial Art School. She’s been very busy these past two days, so she must be tired and resting. Maybe she’ll come to the hospital after she’s rested.”
Hearing Bai Si say that Gu Qingcheng hadn’t come to the hospital, Lu Chi became uneasy.
Gu Qingcheng clearly came to the hospital, but now the hospital’s surveillance was missing frames, and she hadn’t visited Gu Tianhao.
Where had she gone?
Could something have happened to her?
The next moment, he turned and left.
Seeing Lu Chi’s reaction, Bai Si didn’t pay much attention but took out her phone and dialed Gu Qingcheng’s number.
When the Al voice informed her that Gu Qingcheng’s phone was off, she hung up, ready to go back and continue staying with Gu Tianhao.
Lu Chi left Gu Tianhao’s room, and the subordinate who had followed him to the surveillance room approached him.
“The data has been sent for recovery; please wait a moment, Young Master Lu,” the subordinate reported to Lu Chi. “All staff in the surveillance room can confirm that no outsider has entered or exited the room, so the reason for the missing frames is unknown for now.
“To tamper with the surveillance without entering the room requires a very skilled hacker,” Lu Chi’s eyes darkened. “Send someone to investigate any hackers who might have taken a job at this hospital, and restore the surveillance footage as quickly as possible. Search the whole city for Gu Qingcheng.”
“Yes, Young Master Lu.”
After Lu Chi issued his orders, his phone rang. He answered the call.
When he heard the content of the call, his eyes widened in shock: “What? Are you sure it’s Gu Qingcheng?”
