Chapter 123 - 123: Isn’t It a Good Thing to Be Engaged?
Ruan Qi and Fu Jin were shocked to see Song Kai ran pulling Tang Beibei along. Fu Jin asked Ruan Qi, “Does Senior Song Kai like Beibei?”
“All, how did you know?” Ruan Qi covered her mouth nervously after she spoke.
Oh no, she had promised Song Kai not to say anything about this.
Fu Jin frowned and looked unhappy. Ruan Qi asked worriedly, “Fu Jin, what’s wrong? Are you jealous?”
Fu Jin shook his head. “1 just don’t want Beibei to get hurt. You probably haven’t heard but Song Hai has screwed up his projects and couldn’t bear the consequences. The Song family is getting into an alliance marriage with the Lu family in order to borrow their family power.”
Ruan Qi was curious. “Will Song Hai be engaged to Lu Linlin?”
“No, Lu Linlin doesn’t like Song Hai. She wants to be engaged to Song Kai.”
“… But Senior Song Kai doesn’t like Lu Linlin.”
Fu Jin chuckled. “It doesn’t matter if Song Kai likes her if it’s about the survival of the Song family. He’s been living in the mud and trampled on since he was young. If he was given a chance to grow, he would definitely grow into bramble.”
Ruan Qi frowned. “Fu Jin, what are you talking about? Why don’t I understand? Senior Song Kai isn’t a bad person, right?”
“Whether he’s a bad person or not depends on what he’s going to do. Let’s go and see what Song Kai is up to.”
Ruan Qi followed behind him, feeling a little worried. “You mean, Song Kai may hurt Beibei?”
“It’s hard to say.”
Fu Jin had once said that Song Kai had done some terrible things. Although he wouldn’t tell Tang Beibei about those things, he knew that Song Kai wasn’t a good person.
In the parking lot outside Tang Beibei’s school…
Jiang Jingchen had asked to arrive earlier today to pick up his wife. Song Zhou asked if there was anything special.
Jiang Jingchen said that his wife would know today if she got into a professional dance company. If she got in, he would celebrate with her. If she didn’t, as her husband, he would have to comfort her.
Song Zhou thought to himself that his young master cared more about Tang Beibei than he did about himself.
If Tang Beibei didn’t get in, he had no doubt that his young master would acquire a few dance troupes just for her.
Song Zhou had just parked the car when he saw Song Kai walking over with Tang Beibei. The two of them weren’t just talking and laughing, they looked like they were flirting.
He glanced at the backseat through the rearview mirror and felt a chill down his spine.
It was better to arrive at the right time than to arrive early.
Sigh, they had run into a scene of an adulterous affair!
Sh*t.
Tang Beibei followed Song Kai out of school. Song Kai wanted to talk to her in his car but Tang Beibei shook off his hand and looked at him in confusion.
“Senior Song Kai, what do you have to say to me?”
Song Kai looked at her infatuatedly. “Beibei, I used to think that if I work hard, 1’11 get the things that I want. But I realized that 1 was wrong. Sometimes, circumstances will force me to give up certain things.”
Tang Beibei was confused by his words. “Senior Song Kai, what are you talking about?”
Song Kai’s heart stirred. He wanted to tell her that he liked her.
But his rational mind told him clearly that she would reject him. She would even act reserved in his presence and keep her distance from him.
This woman would be helpless and flustered when it came to confessions of love, so he had always tried to be friends with her. He wanted to wait for their relationship to mature before he confessed to her.
But the heavens played a joke on him and let her marry a cripple.
“Beibei, I want to tell you a secret. I’m an illegitimate son of the Song family.”
“…” Tang Beibei frowned.
She hated the word “illegitimate” even more.
Because her entire childhood had been hurt by this label.
Song Kai continued, “My parents loved each other, but my grandfather was unhappy with my mother’s family background, so he didn’t agree to their relationship. My father had a fall out with my grandfather so he could be with my mother.”
“Later, my father fell ill and passed away. My grandfather blamed everything on my mother. My mother was full of remorse and eventually committed suicide. To keep an heir for my father, my grandfather brought me back to the Song residence. Therefore, I must always be in the good books of others in the Song family. I had to do certain things to please them.”
Tang Beibei listened to his story and felt sympathy for him. She didn’t expect her usually sunny senior to have such an unhappy childhood.
“Senior Song Kai, everything will be fine.”
Song Kai looked at her and let out a bitter laugh. “Beibei, I may never be fine.”
Tang Beibei was puzzled. “Senior Song Kai, did something happen? What can I do to help?”
Song Kai stared at her with a burning gaze. There was a voice shouting in his heart: if he gave up trying to take revenge on the Song family, would she accept him?
But his rationality told him that he understood this girl and she would not agree easily.
Because him giving up revenge would be a heavy burden on her.
“No, you don’t need to. I’m just in a bad mood and want to talk with you.”
Tang Beibei patted his arm to comfort him. “Everything will come to pass. Senior Song Kai, you can do something that makes you happy.”
She thought that since Song Kai liked basketball so much, he could go play basketball if he was in a bad mood.
Unfortunately, she didn’t know how to play basketball. Otherwise, she could play with him for a while.
But to Song Kai, seeing the person he liked was something that made him happy.
He stared at the girl seriously and suddenly smiled. He put his arm around her shoulders and reverted to his usual laid back and playful self.
“Beibei, I may… May be getting engaged.”
“Huh, to whom? Senior Song Kai, you really hid it well. You didn’t even tell people that you have a girlfriend.” She smiled and teased him, not noticing the sarcasm and reluctance hidden in his words.
Song Kai’s lips curled into a bitter smile. “Yeah. So, this is bad news that I wanted to share with you first so you could grieve with me.”
Tang Beibei laughed in amusement. “Isn’t it a good thing to be engaged?”
Song Kai asked instead, “Did you think that it was a good thing when you married Jiang Jingchen?”
At that time, Tang Beibei had already prepared for the worst, which was to wait for Jiang Jingchen to die and become a widow. But now, it seemed that she was lucky to have married him.
She removed Song Kai’s arm from her shoulders. “Senior Song Kai, are you in a bad mood because of your engagement?”
“Sigh. Forget it, let’s not talk about it anymore. I’m happy to see you. We will still be friends, right? You can’t despise me just because I’m engaged.”
Tang Beibei didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “Why would 1? You’re Senior Song Kai. You didn’t even despise me after I got married.”
Song Kai also smiled at her and said that he would treat her to a meal, but Tang Beibei said that she was going back home to eat with her husband.
Song Kai was stumped with disappointment when he saw a man waving at Tang Beibei.
“Senior Song Kai, my husband’s butler is here to pick me up. I have to go now.”
“Alright.”
Song Kai watched her walk away, but his eyes held a strong reluctance.
Even if she was married, he still wanted the girl he wanted!
A woman stood not far away. She also watched Tang Beibei leave but with anger.
This shameless woman was already married, yet she seduced her cousin and caused him to be sent abroad. And now, she was seducing her fiance.
Since she liked men so much, she would help this slut!
