Chapter 264 - 264:1 Forgot to Tell You That I Love You
Tang Beibei got up. When she saw the man grabbing his arm, she asked frantically, “Hubby, are you okay?”
“I’m fine. I can get up.”
Jiang Jingchen forced himself to stand up. He looked at the car that was still moving and roared, “Song Zhou, jump now!”
In the car, Song Zhou really wanted to jump out but Ruan Qi, who was in the front passenger seat, was so flustered that she hadn’t even unbuckled her seatbelt.
The car was still shaking and the steering wheel exerted no control as the car rolled downhill toward a river below.
If they didn’t jump out now, they would freeze to death in the cold river.
“Ruan Qi, jump out quick.”
“Okay, I’ll jump.”
Ruan Qi was so frightened that her voice trembled. Her panic worsened as she got more anxious. She finally unbuckled her seatbelt, but when she looked outside and saw weeds and thorns everywhere, she froze again.
Song Zhou knew that she must be scared out of her wits. He turned the steering wheel abruptly, threw himself on her, and jumped out with her.
He jumped out with her and protected her head with his arms. The two of them fell into a bush and rolled a few times before his back hit a tree, which stopped them from rolling into the river.
Ruan Qi turned to her side and saw that the motionless man next to her. She stood up in horror and saw a large blood clot on the man’s forehead.
Panic overcame her as she shouted, “Song Zhou!”
“Song Zhou, what’s wrong? Wake up.”
She called out to him for a while before Song Zhou grunted. Ruan Qi was so happy that she cried. She wanted to find her phone to call an ambulance, but her phone was in the car.
Their car had crashed into a tree not far away. The front of the car was badly damaged but the wheels were still spinning at high speed. The engine made a sizzling sound, and sparks flew.
“Don’t go there!” Jiang Jingchen ran over and scolded Ruan Qi.
Ruan Qi was confused but she still wanted to take the risk and get her phone to save Song Zhou.
“Don’t, Qiqi, don’t go there!” Tang Beibei shouted.
She saw flames in the back of the car and gasoline everywhere the car had passed.
She ran up to stop Ruan Qi, but was pulled back by the man and held tightly in his arms.
Bang!
A ball of fire erupted and the car hood was popped open. Ruan Qi covered her face with her hands as she realized that the car might explode. But it was too late to retreat.
Kaboom!
A deafening explosion rang out.
Ruan Qi’s pupils reflected the flames that shot into the sky. A nearby tree was instantly set ablaze and pieces of the car, its parts, shards from windows flew in all directions.
Ruan Qi’s legs turned to jelly, and despair overcame her.
Suddenly, her line of sight was blocked by a dark shadow.
She was tackled to the ground by someone. The person’s face and neck were injured, and he looked miserable.
However, he smiled helplessly at her. “Miss Ruan, you must protect yourself better in the future.”
“Song-Song Zhou, what happened?”
She smelled blood and the fear in her heart spread. Her entire body stiffened, and she did not dare to touch him.
Song Zhou raised his bloodied index finger and pressed it between her eyebrows as he whispered, “Miss Ruan, I wasn’t kidding when I said that I like you.”
“I know, I know. You must hold on. We’ll take you to a hospital.”
Song Zhou smiled. He spat out a mouthful of blood when he spoke. It was obvious that he had internal injuries.
Ruan Qi’s face turned pale with fright as she cried and begged him not to speak.
Song Zhou wanted to tell her that if he didn’t say it now, he might not get another chance.
“Miss Ruan…”
“No. Stop, Song Zhou.”
Song Zhou smiled lightly. His face was stained with blood, and his eyes were filled with reluctance and heartache.
He hated to see his girl cry.
A carefree girl should be happy and brimming with pure vitality.
“Ruan Qi…”
“I forgot to tell you that I love you.”
Ruan Qi’s entire body was shaking, and her voice was hoarse as tears rolled down her face.
Maybe it was snowing because it felt really cold.
But the fear in her heart felt colder than the wind around them.
“Song Zhou, Song Zhou!”
Ruan Qi sobbed as she watched Song Zhou close his eyes and collapse onto her. Every time she called out, she shook harder and felt more helpless.
The exploded car was still throwing debris into the air. Tang Beibei and Jiang Jingchen ran over to check on Song Zhou’s injured back.
Jiang Jingchen gritted his teeth, helped Song Zhou up to move him to a safe distance.
Tang Beibei also wanted to help Ruan Qi up, but Ruan Qi’s legs were weak. She managed to stand up finally and staggered with great difficulty as they caught up to Jiang Jingchen.
Tang Beibei comforted her. “Qiqi, now is not the time to be sad. We need to think of a way to save Song Zhou. He’s still alive.”
Hearing that Song Zhou was still alive, Ruan Qi regained some strength and followed Jiang Jingchen out. Tang Beibei turned to look at the burning tree.
In winter, the air was dry. If the fire spread, they would still be doomed.
She went back to break the branches and put out the small fire around the car. She turned around and saw some withered weeds. Remembering what she had read before, she quickly pulled out the roots and took a bite. It tasted slightly spicy and her eyes lit up.
These were wild ginseng, which could stop bleeding.
She pulled out more roots and caught up to find Song Zhou. “Hubby, apply this on Song Zhou’s wounds. We can only try our best now. Can you contact the hospital?”
“Not yet. We’ll have to wait for cars to pass by.” Jiang Jingchen looked at Song Zhou with a gloomy face.
It was the same old trick again. Jiang Jingchen’s fists were tightly clenched.
He would definitely not let those people off this time!
Tang Beibei went into the woods again and found more herbs that could stop Song Zhou’s bleeding. She had never been a real doctor and only knew simple principles from lessons, books, and videos.
However, at this critical moment, she would try anything that was not harmful medicine on Song Zhou.
They stopped Song Zhou’s bleeding and gave him their coats to keep him warm so he wouldn’t catch a cold.
They waited for almost an hour but there were still no passing cars. The temperature was so low, and they had given their coats to Song Zhou. They were all made of flesh and blood, and their bodies could not take it anymore.
Jiang Jingchen said, “1’11 run down the mountain to see if anyone can help. Wait for me here.”
Tang Beibei knew that his arm was also injured and followed him out of worry.
“I’ll go with you. I’m worried if you go alone.”
Jiang Jingchen said softly, “Obedient Beibei, you must trust your man at this time.”
“No. Someone tempered with our car. Someone must want to harm us. What if those people set up an ambush and you never return? What am I supposed to do then?”
Tang Beibei could be a little dazed sometimes but she was quite clear-headed when it came to big things.
She turned to Ruan Qi and said, “You stay here with Song Zhou. We’ll go find an ambulance. We’ll definitely save Song Zhou.”
Jiang Jingchen was still worried, but it was desperate times now. Since she got up and followed him, he gave in.
“I’m going to run fast. Try to keep up.”
“I will keep up.” Tang Beibei picked up her pace.
Time was of the essence now. Song Zhou was in a critical condition and must go to hospital soon, or the consequences would be unimaginable.
The two of them ran for more than half an hour, but there was still no one.
This place was desolate and remote. Their attackers had planned it such that even if they weren’t killed in a car crash, no one would rescue them.
Jiang Jingchen was injured, and the running tortured him. His face was pale as he leaned against a tree to catch his breath.
Tang Beibei rushed up worriedly to check on him. Just as her hand touched his arm, he grimaced in pain and stepped back.
“Is your arm dislocated?”
“It’s possible.” He comforted her. Actually, the pain he felt in his arm wasn’t as simple as a dislocated shoulder.
Tang Beibei stood on her tiptoes and raised her head to kiss him. Her heart ached so much that she cried.
“Hubby, I’m sorry. I don’t know how to set bones. Nothing I’ve learned in the past can help you.”
She was a medical student. She was learning how to save lives but when in danger, the words that appeared in her mind were meaningless.
Jiang Jingchen lowered his head to touch his forehead to hers as he listened to her guilt.
“Obedient Beibei, this is not your fault. We’ll find a car and go to the hospital to get a doctor.”
“You want to go to the hospital? I’m afraid that won’t be easy!”
Four men walked out from behind a big tree. All of them wore masks and carried weapons.
The man in the lead had a stun baton.
He said arrogantly with his arms crossed, “You were really lucky to survive the car crash but we’ll send you on your way now!”
