Chapter 319 - 319: Who Doesn’t Know How to Respect Their Teachers?
Tang Beibei looked at the newly transferred counselor, Ms. Wan, in shock and asked Fu Jin in a low voice, “What does Teacher Wan mean?”
Fu Jin frowned. “Teacher Wan suspects that your results were fake.”
Tang Beibei turned her gaze back to the counselor and asked, “How can exam results be fake? Teacher Wan, was there a problem with the grading?”
“Pfft…”
Fu Jin was caught off guard and laughed at Tang Beibei’s counterattack.
This nerd’s brain finally started working. She knew how to retort and put the blame on the teachers.
Ms. Wan gritted her teeth in anger. “Tang Beibei, no one is joking with you. Tell me honestly, did you cheat in last semester’s final exams?”
Tang Beibei was confused. She tilted her head and looked at her. “Teacher Wan, are you sober?”
To suspect her of cheating was to question her character and to deny all her hard work and the time she had invested in her studies.
Even if Teacher Wan wanted to scold her, she shouldn’t be so mean!
Ms. Wan slammed the table angrily. “Tang Beibei, I asked you a question. What’s with the attitude?”
Tang Beibei’s face darkened as she said, “Teacher, I’m not your prisoner. If you want to interrogate me, you should produce some evidence!”
Hearing Tang Beibei’s retort, Teacher Wan pointed at her and roared, “I thought that you were a well-mannered student. I didn’t expect you to be so disrespectful when something happened. You even dared to argue with me. Do you really think that you’re so great just because you got first place?”
The dean tried to stop Ms. Wan, thinking that she had just transferred to the TCM faculty and didn’t know Tang Beibei.
“Teacher Wan, calm down and speak nicely to the students.”
The dean then turned to Tang Beibei and said, “Someone reported you and supplied evidence that you cheated in your final exams. This concerns the reputation of the faculty and the interests of every student. In the spirit of exam fairness, we must investigate the accusation thoroughly.”
Tang Beibei was shocked. How could someone be so bored that they’d accuse her of cheating?
“It’s true that teachers care about the interest of every student. What about me? Am I not a student?”
“Are you forcing me to confess that I cheated without any evidence? How is that reasonable?”
The dean took out a recording, which only had Tang Beibei’s voice.
“Yes, it’s good to know some exam techniques.”
“I just spotted a few questions and memorized the relevant content. The rest was just luck.”
“Read with your eyes.”
Tang Beibei remembered that those were snippets from her conversation with Ji Man.
Teacher Wan interrogated further, “You asked for leave before the exams and said that you were seriously injured. You didn’t even attend classes. How did you get first place in the exams?”
Fu Jin was so frustrated that he laughed before he chimed in, “I was the one who helped Beibei apply for leave back then. She was indeed seriously injured. Teacher Wan, Beibei’s injury wasn’t in her brain, so it shouldn’t have affected her studies.”
“She said that she could memorize a whole book. Is that true?”
Tang Beibei gritted her teeth. If Teacher Wan was serious and asked her to memorize a whole book without missing a word and she couldn’t, would she be slapping herself in the face?
When she said that she memorized a whole notebook, she meant all the key points to her spotted questions, contents that she needed to remember.
“You suspect me of cheating because of that?”
Teacher Wan calmed down a little and said to her, “You mentioned exam techniques and luck. What exactly were your exam techniques?”
Tang Beibei took a deep breath and said firmly, “Let me repeat myself. Please have strong evidence before you accuse others!”
Ms. Wan frowned. Tang Beibei wasn’t cooperating.
She had just transferred to this faculty and wanted to do her job well. And suddenly there was a report about a student cheating. She must investigate the accusation thoroughly so she could build some credibility for herself.
Fu Jin chuckled and asked the dean, “Teacher, do you about ‘Special Class for the Gifted Young’?”
“I know, it’s a program for young geniuses.”
Fu Jin then asked, “Then why don’t you ask those young geniuses what cheating techniques they used to solve problems that even adults can’t solve?”
The dean was stumped.
Ms. Wan was indignant as she glared at Fu Jin. “Fu Jin, this has nothing to do with you. Don’t put your two cents in. I’m asking Tang Beibei for clarifications now. As long as she explains herself, everything will be fine.”
“I explained, but you didn’t believe me.” Tang Beibei said angrily.
Ms. Wan’s voice was even louder than Tang Beibei’s when she roared, “Tang Beibei, what kind of tone is that? Don’t you know how to respect your teachers? I asked you a question. Can’t you just answer me nicely?”
“You said that you memorized a whole book, but when I asked you, you didn’t answer and changed the subject.”
The more Ms. Wan spoke, the angrier she got. “I know that you are married to a rich second-generation heir. Is that why you are so arrogant that you would argue with me? The more you argue, the more guilty you look!”
Tang Beibei was so angry that her eyes turned red.
Who was arguing? They were the ones who were being unreasonable and deemed her guilty from the start.
“Who’s guilty?” An old but deep voice came from outside the office.
“Who doesn’t know how to respect their teachers?”
Teacher Wan and the dean were surprised to see Professor Chen walk in. The two of them immediately greeted him respectfully.
When Tang Beibei saw Professor Chen in the room, she thought that maybe Professor Chen also assumed that she had cheated in her exams and was here to drop her as his mentee. She hung her head in grievance and did not dare to look at him.
Professor Chen walked to the seat at the head of the table and sat down slowly. He looked up at Ms. Wan.
He knew this person. She was a new teacher who transferred from the School of Management.
He asked her in a deep voice, “Tang Beibei is my mentee. Why wasn’t I informed about her cheating?”
Teacher Wan was nervous. She said, “No, I didn’t say that she cheated. A student reported her, and I was just asking her about the details.”
Fu Jin was also worried that Professor Chen would drop Tang Beibei as his mentee because of this matter. Professor Chen was a highly respected professor and a very well-known expert in the medical world.
If he dropped Tang Beibei as his mentee because she was found guilty of cheating, Tang Beibei would not be able to survive in school, let alone in the medical world.
Fu Jin said quickly, “Counselor, call the student who reported Tang Beibei over. Let her accuse Tang Beibei in person and present her evidence. Otherwise, she’s deliberately framing Tang Beibei and damaging her reputation. We can sue her!”
The counselor and the dean looked at each other with strange expressions.
At this moment, Professor Chen knocked on the table. “Please do as this student suggested. Call the student who reported Tang Beibei over.”
“That, that’s not appropriate, right? That student said that she was afraid that Tang Beibei would take revenge, so…”
Bang!
Professor Chen was furious and slammed the table.
“What revenge would Tang Beibei take? Take revenge on her for her malicious accusation? I don’t care which faculty you were in before, you must act reasonably here. Ask the student who reported Tang Beibei to come here now!”
Teacher Wan hesitated and looked to the dean for help.
The dean sighed helplessly. The two of them had been friends in the School of Management. She was new to the TCM faculty and wanted to prove herself and the dean was willing to help her.
But now that Professor Chen was angry, his hands were tied.
He nodded at her and asked her to call the student who reported Tang Beibei over.
Teacher Wan had no choice but to ask Fu Jin to call Ji Man over so she could explain herself.
Ji Man was very surprised to receive Fu Jin’s call. Their class monitor, Fu Jin, looked gentle but was distant and didn’t seem very approachable.
When she heard him ask her to go to the teacher’s office, she figured that Teacher Wan had probably called Tang Beibei to the teachers’ office to ask her about her cheating.
Were they asking her over now to reward her because Tang Beibei had already confessed to cheating?
She also wanted to go there and see Tang Beibei’s miserable look!
