Chapter 437 - 437: Revelation! A Mysterious Guest! A Bid for Copyright!
Emerging from his tent at high noon the following day, Luo Feng appeared thoroughly content. He had enjoyed a rewarding evening with Li Shishi, an engagement that had repeated three times.
Indeed.
Worth mentioning was…
His budding relationship with Qin Rubing.
During a nighttime stroll away from the camp, Luo Feng seized an opportunity to kiss her. At first, her reaction was awkward, but soon, encouraged by Luo Feng’s guidance, she began to reciprocate.
However, after their shared kiss, she tried to flee.
Luo Feng’s swift reflexes allowed him to pull her back into his arms.
There were no words, just two figures clinging to one another.
Later, Luo Feng kissed her again.
This time, she was much more receptive.
Being in her mid -twenties, her eagerness was palpable.
Bashfully, she tried to run away once more.
With their relationship at this advanced stage, the prospect of consummation was imminent.
Yet, Luo Feng was in no rush.
Didn’t he already have a woman he could enjoy?
He would savor it for now.
When the right opportunity presented itself, he would find a more suitable environment to thoroughly enjoy it.
After all, Qin Rubing’s long legs were an irresistible lure.
The next morning, the archaeological team, boosted by Luo Feng’s addition, sped up their work.
Given their current pace, they estimated it would take at least three days to clean the entirety of the bronze tripod.
Simple corrugated iron shelters had been erected around the bronze tripod.
Some archaeologists were perched in crane baskets, delicately removing the grime from the bronze artifact.
Unexpectedly, on the fourth day, a helicopter landed nearby. An elderly man, around sixty, disembarked, accompanied by a younger man.
The area had been cordoned off by the armed police, and their arrival was halted.
The younger man approached the police, inquiring, “Hello, is Mr. Luo available?”
An officer responded, “Mr. Luo is inside the shelter, do you need to speak with him?”
The young man glanced at the shelter where the bronze tripod was being cleaned. He then addressed the older man, saying, “Director Zhang, Mr. Luo appears to be busy with the bronze artifact.”
“Ah, understood,” the older man nodded, patiently awaiting Luo Feng’s attention.
“Little Luo, a distinguished gentleman seems to be looking for you,” observed Master Li from his spot by the bronze artifact.
“A distinguished gentleman? How old is he?” asked Luo Feng, surprised. Typically, such titles were reserved for the elderly.
Upon turning in the indicated direction, Luo Feng saw a man in his sixties whom he did not recognize.
Presumably, this was the ‘distinguished gentleman’ to whom Master Li had referred to.
“Respected sir, were you looking for me?” Luo Feng approached the man after cleaning his hands.
“Hello, Mr. Luo. I am Hong He, representing the Tobacco Group!” the elderly man greeted, handing Luo Feng a small business card.
Astonished, Luo Feng took the card.
Despite having met many influential individuals, as a smoker, Luo Feng understood the significance of this man’s status.
What remained to question?
After all, tobacco companies hold vast influence.
It is often said that the tobacco tax revenue in the nation could sustain the Defense Ministry. Although the truth of this statement is uncertain, the substantial income from tobacco is undeniable.
“Mr. Luo, is the object in that shelter the Nine Zhou Ding?” Director Zhang began, but Luo Feng interrupted him.
“Director Zhang, we are not selling this artifact,” Luo Feng declared, asserting his possession of the artifact.
Even an executive from the Tobacco Group, or indeed the Emperor himself, could not force a sale from him.
Luo Feng, however, was puzzled. Why would a representative of a tobacco company, rather than the Department of Antiquities, express interest in this artifact?
Director Zhang laughed, “Young man, you are mistaken. I am not here to buy the Nine Zhou Ding, but to purchase its copyright!”
“Buying its copyright, what do you mean?” Luo Feng queried, sensing he was beginning to understand.
“Exactly, it’s the copyright, specifically for usage on cigarette packaging!” clarified Director Zhang.
This revelation prompted Luo Feng to wonder why these individuals would go to such lengths to buy the copyright of the Nine Zhou Ding.
Why not use images of animals?
Or landmarks like the Great Wall or the Yellow Crane Tower?
Such symbols do not require copyright. Wouldn’t that be more practical?
Nevertheless, Luo Feng recalled that tobacco companies had previously bought copyrights. For instance, Liqun cigarettes had bought the copyright for the painting ‘Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains’.
“Young Luo, could you come here for a moment?” Master Li beckoned from the edge of the bronze tripod, seemingly needing to speak with Luo Feng.
“Well, Director Zhang, please take a moment to rest. I have some matters to attend to. Once I’m finished, we can discuss the copyright issue further. I assure you, I won’t sell the antique, but we can certainly discuss its copyright…”
“There’s no rush, Mr. Luo. Proceed with your work. My apologies for the interruption!” responded Director Zhang graciously.
“You’re too modest, Director Zhang!” retorted Luo Feng, graciously accepting the gesture..
