Chapter 449 - 449: Could This Be the Sea Stabilizing Needle?
Unyielding, Luo Feng persistently sifted through the muck. He was aware that if his search remained fruitless, he would have to resort to heavy machinery. However, his heart fluttered as his fingertips brushed against something hard beneath the sediment. A smile danced on his lips, igniting the possibility of unearthing a hidden treasure.
[ Ding! Congratulations, host! You have discovered the Divine Sea Stabilizing Needle! ]
[ Divine Sea Stabilizing Needle! Attributes: ??? Dynasty: ??? Value: ??? ]
It was a moment of triumph. The cryptic message inscribed on the oracle bones had led him accurately to his destination. The Zhou Dynasty had indeed come into possession of the Divine Sea Stabilizing Needle, used it effectively to subdue a water catastrophe, and eventually secreted it here.
Luo Feng tried to wrest the cold artifact free from its murky grave, but it was to no avail. Encased in the riverbed and destabilized by the river’s relentless flow, the object seemed ready to sink further with the slightest provocation. Despite numerous attempts, success eluded him.
Swiftly retracting his hand, Luo Feng surfaced, causing a ripple of anticipation amongst the spectators. “Luo Feng is surfacing!”
“Did he find something?”
“Wasn’t there supposed to be a Divine Sea Needle down there?”
The crowd on the yacht clamored with questions, but Luo Feng remained tight-lipped. Hoisting himself onto the yacht with the rope, he armed himself with his Jungle Blade and plunged back into the river. “What’s the host doing with a machete?” “Could there be a water monster lurking below?”
“Could it be the legendary dragon of the Yellow River?”
“Quick, spread the word! The host is about to confront the dragon!”
Once submerged again, Luo Feng drove his knife deep into the muck, allowing half of his arm to be enveloped. The resonant ding that echoed sent a sharp sensation along the blade and into Luo Feng’s grip.
With his left hand, Luo Feng managed to hold onto the knife’s handle through the thick muck, ensuring the Divine Sea Stabilizing Needle stayed secure beneath him. His right hand ventured further into the silt.
Despite its obscurity in the muddy water, Luo Feng could discern a rough outline of the artifact. Extracting it gradually while retracting his jungle knife, he came to understand the Divine Sea Stabilizing Needle’s weight and depth of burial.
A few minutes later, Luo Feng succeeded in extricating one end of the Divine Sea Stabilizing Needle. With the water’s murkiness, he decided to defer inspection until he had returned to the surface.
Having removed roughly thirty centimeters, Luo Feng slowly rose, pushing off the sediment beneath him. He strained his muscles to dislodge the Divine River-Settling Needle from its bed.
The artifact proved to be lengthy, but after some struggle, Luo Feng realized it was not embedded too deep. It lay just one or two meters beneath the muck.
The reason for such a long object’s shallow burial was straightforward – it was a chain lock. Luo Feng visualized the Divine Needle’s design – a series of bronze chain links, not some magical staff with size-altering capabilities.
Fixed to the chain’s bottom was a rotor, jointly forming the Divine Sea Stabilizing Needle. The bronze chain link was likely a creation of the Zhou Dynasty, while the Xia Dynasty had contributed the rotor.
Having resolved his doubts, Luo Feng swiftly resurfaced. The chain link burst forth from the mud, stretching taut from one end to the other. The undercurrent washed over the holes in the chain link, unable to warp it. These holes effectively mitigated the force of the river water.
Emerging, Luo Feng drew the attention of the crowd. He waved his Jungle Blade with one hand while the other dragged the chain link, making his way towards the yacht. “Is it secure?” “Is it done?”
“Then start the yacht!”
The yacht roared into life, inch by inch dragging out the bronze lock, much to everyone’s awe.
“What in the world is that?”
“Could that chain link be the Divine Sea Stabilizing Needle?”
Confusion swept over the crowd. However, once the chain link was fully visible, a sizable square-shaped object attached to it came into view.
This object dwarfed the bronze chains in comparison. At first glance, with its seemingly table-like legs, it bore a striking resemblance to an Eight Immortals
Table..
