Chapter 665 - 665: Alice
Under the guidance of Jardins, the girl arrived at the dining table and voraciously consumed all the leftover food.
It was apparent that she must have been hungry for quite some time.
Her face finally brightened up after filling her stomach.
“Little girl, where do you live? Why are you outside alone so late?” Jardins inquired, to which the girl chose not to respond.
Seeing her reluctance, Jardins didn’t press the matter further.
The girl remained mostly silent. Jardins sensed she might have some unspeakable troubles and didn’t ask any more questions. After she had eaten, Jardins led her to take a bath and arranged a room for her to rest.
The next morning, Jardins had no intention of letting the girl stay permanently. She led her to the door and handed her some pocket money.
‘You should head back home, little girl. Your family must be extremely worried about you being gone for so long.”
“So, you should go home as soon as possible. It’s very dangerous out there.” Jardins was about to send her away when the little girl finally grew anxious. “I don’t want to go; I don’t want to go home!”
The girl seemed desperate, and Jardins realized that her family must not treat her well. The girl had likely run away from home.
Upon thinking this, Jardins felt immense pity for her.
Although she had been keen to avoid trouble, she ultimately decided to let the girl stay.
“In that case, why don’t you stay here? We sell toys. You can help by watching over them.”
Hearing that Jardins was willing to keep her, the girl’s eyes immediately lit up.
“Really? You really want to keep me here?” “Of course!”
Jardins affectionately patted the girl’s head.
After all, Jardins herself had run away from home to come here. She didn’t get along with her father, which was her primary reason for leaving. Seeing someone with a similar fate, she instinctively reached out to help.
“So, little girl, what’s your name?” Jardins asked as they walked back, selecting another room for the girl to stay in.
“I’m Alice,” the little girl answered.
While their side was still enjoying a warm moment, chaos had already erupted at the Cosmic Tower.
“A bunch of incompetents! The Chairman left for only half a day, and you lost the young miss!”
Maria was so angry she was almost bursting. The Chairman had gone on a business trip for a couple of days and had left the child in Maria’s care. Maria had been busy contacting Luo Feng and had only been delayed for half a day. Upon her return, the young miss had disappeared. “If Alice isn’t found, you’re all finished!”
“You all know the Chairman’s temper, don’t you?”
At Maria’s words, the bodyguards broke out in cold sweats.
“Don’t just stand there, go find her! She must be found before tonight!”
‘Yes!”
Everyone hurried out to search. Once they had all left, Maria sank exhaustedly into a sofa.
She Imew the Chairman’s temper better than anyone else. If the child wasn’t found, not only would the bodyguards be in trouble, but she would also bear the main responsibility. “I hope those guys can do their jobs and find her quickly.”
“Otherwise, we’re all doomed.’
Meanwhile, Alice spent the day at the toy wholesale market with Jardins, packing up toys that were to be sent out.
These toys were to be shipped to Maria.
Maria had agreed to sign the contract and make the payment immediately, and as soon as the money arrived, they would send out all the toys.
Jardins was introducing Alice to the pros and cons of these toys and how to select them while packing. Alice, who came from a wealthy family and had always played with the latest toys, was seeing these older toys for the first time.
Jardins explained with great enthusiasm, and Alice, driven by a sense of novelty, instantly fell in love with them.
They spent the entire day packing the toys. Finally, Alice picked up one of the remaining toys.
“Jardins, can I keep this toy in my room?”
Jardins could see that Alice really liked it, and so she happily nodded.
“Of course!”
Alice was overjoyed, as if she had found a treasure.
After packing up, Jardins waited for the payment to come in, but even until the evening, the money had not arrived.
Even though she trusted Maria, Jardins couldn’t help but start to doubt.
“Could that person have changed her mind?”
