Chapter 679 - 679: Splitting Forces
He knew that acting impulsively was not an option at this point, especially since Alice was the only bargaining chip he had against George.
However, standing idly by was also against his nature.
As George watched Luo Feng, a thought suddenly crossed his mind.
“No, I must act first. Although taking the initiative may not necessarily yield results, it will at least draw his attention,” George mused.
“I am an obvious target. If he pays even a little attention to my actions, he’ll be able to discern my motives. So if I even consider making a move, he’ll notice. Even if I remain inactive, I may not necessarily gain the upper hand.”
“Besides, George is no fool. He’ll figure it out soon enough. If I remain inactive, it might arouse his suspicions. I must act. ”
“I’ll distract him with a frontal assault, while you take on the real task of rescuing Alice. ”
“Luo Feng, I hope you can assist me.”
Charlie spoke earnestly, and Luo Feng looked at him in disbelief.
Was the arrogant Charlie actually asking for his help?
But it made sense, considering this concerned his precious daughter.
Moreover, Charlie’s reasoning was sound. Luo Feng did not refute it and nodded solemnly.
“In that case, let’s divide and conquer. You distract George while I’ll go behind the scenes to rescue Alice!”
After a pause, Luo Feng continued, “Oh, by the way, there’s another person who was kidnapped. Her name is Jardins, my friend. She was taken along with Alice.
Please keep an eye on her safety as well.”
Having received Luo Feng’s reminder, Charlie nodded in agreement, and the two parted ways.
Meanwhile, George had no idea what had transpired. After binding Jardins and Alice, he had intended to seek out Ailan to assist him with some other tasks.
However, despite searching high and low, Ailan was nowhere to be found. After inquiring, he found out that Ailan had taken a day off.
“Is he avoiding me at this critical time?” wondered George.
He couldn’t fathom why Ailan would do this, especially since he had offered him benefits.
“Either he’s genuinely sick, or he’s been threatened not to associate with me,” George speculated, growing increasingly anxious.
Quickly, George arrived at Ailan’s home. The door was locked. He knocked several times but received no answer. Knowing that something was wrong, he kicked the door open and entered.
Soon, he found Ailan, who looked frail and was gasping for breath on his bed.
“What happened to you? Have you run into some trouble?” George asked, feigning concern but more worried about whether Charlie had found out about their plans and if Ailan had betrayed him.
“It was that damned Luo Feng. After he discovered you and took the hostages away, he came after me. He beat me to a pulp. I’m lucky to be alive,” Ailan said, his face grim.
George sighed in relief. If Charlie had not discovered their plans, they were still safe.
“That Luo Feng is despicable. Don’t worry; he won’t get away with this,” George declared, his face resolute.
Ailan knew George was just putting on an act, just as he was.
“Forget it. I didn’t tell him anything, and he believed me. He’s gone now. If you seek revenge on him, he might suspect something, and then I’d have to deal with him again,” Ailan advised, seeking an opportunity to gain favor with Charlie.
“Where have you hidden Alice and the others?”
