Chapter 163 - 163: He’s Not an Iron Wall
Chen Qingyue walked with Chi Ming behind her.
Suppressing her anger, Chen Qingyue asked, “Where’s Han Xu?”
“He left before we arrived,” Chi Ming turned to look at her, his pupils deep and dark, his demeanor calm and restrained. “If you need, I can bring him back.”
Chen Qingyue shook her head. “Let’s wait until Tong Jia wakes up…”
She wanted nothing more than to tear Han Xu apart, but this was Tong Jia and Han Xu’s private matter. She did not want to interfere too much, especially since she vaguely guessed that Han Xu was looking for Tong Wanzhe, who she suspected was Tong Jia. Tong Jia probably did not want to see Han Xu at all.
As for reporting to the police, without evidence and with the Han family’s influence, she could not do anything to Han Xu.
Chi Ming fell silent for a moment and then continued, “If there’s nothing else, I’ll head back.”
Chen Qingyue was about to nod when she caught a glimpse of a dark stain on his black coat. Her eyes narrowed slightly. Instead of asking him, she reached out and touched his waist.
Chi Ming winced in pain, his brows furrowing, but he made no sound.
Chen Qingyue withdrew her hand, staring at the faintly dried dark red on her fingers. Worried, she asked, “Are you injured? What happened?” She had been wondering why Chi Ming suddenly wore a black coat; she hadn’t expected him to be injured. Who could possibly harm Chi Ming?
Chi Ming’s expression remained unchanged. “It’s a minor injury, I’m fine now.”
It was just that he had been standing for too long, causing the wound to reopen. If it weren’t for the black clothes covering it, it would be quite shocking.
“Why didn’t you go to the hospital? You’re bleeding. It can’t be nothing,” Chen Qingyue said urgently.
Chi Ming’s voice was soft. “I wanted to wait for you to come over before leaving.” He rarely had the chance to be close to her, so every moment alone with her was particularly precious. He wanted to look at her a little longer.
Shen Qingyue felt a strange sensation in her heart when she heard this, a sour, swelling feeling. She grabbed his hand.
“Come with me to the hospital. Tong Jia has a special situation, she can’t be moved immediately, we need to handle it first, but you can go. Let’s go to the hospital right away.” After saying this, she pulled Chi Ming and walked out without hesitation.
Chi Ming’s gaze fell on the tightly held hands of the two, and it was impossible to tell what he was thinking.
When they arrived at the hospital, the doctor asked Chi Ming to take off his coat. Chi Ming glanced at Shen Qingyue, and she understood what he meant but insisted on staying. “Hurry up, don’t delay.”
Chi Ming hesitated for a moment, finally took off his shirt, revealing his strong upper body.
When Shen Qingyue saw the condition of his waist, she realized how deep his wounds were. The wound had already split open, exposing raw flesh. Apart from the knife wound on his waist, there were many other wounds of varying sizes on his body. They had all turned into faint scars.
Shen Qingyue hadn’t expected that in places she could not see, he had suffered so much. No wonder he could endure the injury on his waist and still stand tall.
He had become accustomed to it.
After Chi Ming treated his wounds, he wanted to leave, but Shen Qingyue blocked his way. “I have arranged for you to be hospitalized. You will leave when you have recovered.”
Chi Ming was helpless. “These injuries are not that serious…”
Shen Qingyue was forceful. “I said you will be hospitalized!”
Chi Ming stared at her and suddenly bit his lip. “Okay.”
There was a hint of reluctant resignation in his words, making it seem like
Shen Qingyue was being unreasonable. This made her feel a bit embarrassed. But looking at Chi Ming like this, she couldn’t help but worry about him going out.
After she took Chi Ming to the ward and received a call from Zhang Jianci, who said that Tong Jia had woken up, Shen Qingyue planned to go check on Tong Jia’s condition. Before leaving, she said to Chi Ming, “I’ll bring breakfast tomorrow morning. Don’t make it hard for me to find you.”
“I won’t. I’ll be waiting for you,” Chi Ming said, looking at her.
After Shen Qingyue left, Zhang Jianci brought in a private doctor to rebandage Chi Ming. Finally, he couldn’t help but complain, “Brother Ming, why are you here? We have private doctors. They have been taking care of you all these years; they understand you better and their medical skills are much better than this hospital’s. Come back with me and recuperate. Don’t waste time here.”
“I have to stay here,” Chi Ming said.
“What?” Zhang Jianci was puzzled.
Chi Ming looked at the pitch-black window, a faint smile on his face. “Someone asked me to wait for her here.’
When Shen Qingyue arrived at Tong Jia’s side and saw her, Tong Jia gave her a weak smile. “President Shen, thank you for saving me…”
Shen Qingyue sat down on the chair next to the bed. “You saved me too, it’s even now. How do you feel now?”
“I took some painkillers. It doesn’t hurt as much anymore,” Tong Jia said, her voice extremely weak…
