Chapter 630 - 630: The Dead Man in the Snow
Xiao Bai nodded.
“Wow, could it be that someone buried a treasure here?”
He couldn’t afford to miss this opportunity.
Gu Xiaonan took out a shovel from his storage space.
Don’t ask him why he had a shovel; he needed it for processing medicinal herbs.
He crouched down and began to dig, huffing and puffing.
Feng Yuanxi was also called over to help dig.
The snow here was piled up like a small mountain.
The two of them, along with Xiao Bai, dug for quite a while, but apart from snow, they didn’t see anything else.
However, Xiao Bai was so sure that Gu Xiaonan firmly believed there must be something good inside, so he persisted.
As they continued to dig tirelessly, they lost track of time. Then, suddenly, Gu Xiaonan’s small shovel struck something solid, producing a clear and ringing noise.
“We’ve hit something!” Gu Xiaonan’s eyes lit up instantly.
Gu Qingluan and Feng Tianlan came down from the inn’s upper floor and didn’t see their son. They felt puzzled and asked, “Where are Xiaonan and Yuanxi?”
Bo He smiled and said, “They are playing in the snow outside.”
“It’s getting dark, 1 wonder when they’ll come back.”
Gu Qingluan shook her head helplessly and walked toward the door with Feng Tianlan.
They had booked the entire inn, and all the guests there were their own acquaintances.
It was snowing heavily outside, and there were very few people on the road.
Just as Gu Qingluan walked outside, she saw Yuanxi running over, stumbling and almost bumping into her legs.
“What’s wrong?” Gu Qingluan noticed that he didn’t look quite right, so she held him up and asked gently.
Yuanxi tightly grasped her hand, and his voice trembled slightly, “Mother, there’s a dead person in the snow.”
Hearing this, Gu Qingluan was momentarily taken aback. She looked into the distance and spotted Xiaonan crouching under a tree.
They approached together with Yuanxi.
They saw Xiaonan vigorously digging into the snow with a small shovel.
A person buried under the snow, with only their head and feet visible, caught their attention.
“Xiaonan! What are you doing?” Gu Qingluan suspected that Xiaonan might have been frightened out of his wits.
“Mother, take a look! There’s a dead person here!” Gu Xiaonan turned around and said to her.
His little face was pale from the cold, but his eyes were clear and bright, far from looking frightened.
Gu Qingluan breathed a sigh of relief, approached him, and pulled him up, patting off the snow on his body. She said, “You saw a dead person and still went closer. Are you stupid?”
Gu Xiaonan opened his black-and-white eyes and spoke with determination, “It’s just a dead person, what is there to be afraid of?”
Gu Qingluan was speechless.
This kid was too bold for his own good.
On the side, Feng Yuanxi heard this and couldn’t help but smile awkwardly.
If it had been a situation involving bad people being killed, he wouldn’t have been afraid.
But digging for treasure and uncovering a dead person genuinely gave him a scare.
“You and Yuanxi stand back, including Xiao Bai.”
How could there be a dead person buried on the street? Could they have frozen to death?
Gu Qingluan wanted to go and check, but Feng Tianlan stopped her.
He called Jing Feng over and asked him to dig out the deceased.
Jing Feng was speechless.
It seemed that he was the one always getting stuck with the dirty and strenuous work.
He stepped forward and dug the body out from the snow pile.
Gu Qingluan instructed Xiaonan and Yuanxi to close their eyes.
Yuanxi obediently closed his eyes.
Xiaonan secretly opened a small gap and curiously glanced over.
Gu Qingluan was helpless and simply covered his face with her hand.
Xiaonan suddenly couldn’t see anything.
He pouted.
His mother was making a big fuss over nothing. He had seen far more horrifying scenes than this.
Just as Gu Qingluan asked Jing Feng to check the deceased’s clothes for any identifying information, a shout echoed.
“Stop!”
Jing Feng’s figure paused, and he looked in the direction of the voice.
A group of people was rushing towards them in a hurry..
