Chapter 68 A Ranked mission

Chapter 68  A Ranked mission

Soon enough, an exceptionally tall faceless man dropped from the sky and landed directly before the restaurant with a flask of wine in his left hand.

"Great Senior half-moon" Darknorth approached the senior and humbly greeted him with a bow.

"You said something about a level 3 mage and a special talent?" The tall, faceless man turned to Darknorth and asked. They fought for Darknorth to get this recruiter position to pull in talents they could groom.

Who would have thought that the young lad would be able to bag them a level 3 mage? It was a pleasant surprise.

"These are the guys" Darknorth led the elder over to Leon and Arian.

"Ah? He wasn\'t pulling my legs, I see…" The elder Half-moon tilted his head before stomping on the ground.

Out of nowhere, a chair made from rocks emerged and formed from the ground. The elder then proceeded to take a sit on it.

"Oh, yes. You can have a seat too" the elder stretched a hand forward and two chairs rose from the ground. In the middle of the streets of duan city, Leon and Arian took their seats.

"Before we proceed, I\'ll like to ask some questions." Leon paused for a second before speaking.

"Oh?" The elder raised his eyebrow questioningly.

"Ah, you mustn\'t…." Darknorth tried to stop Leon from proceeding with what he was going to ask.

Half-moon was actually a very prestigious elder of their faction, he was at the peak of level 3, the fact that he came here himself was only because of Arian being a level 3 mage, and Leon was asking him questions?

"No, no, let him ask his questions" the elder Half-moon waved his hand indicating that Darknorth shouldn\'t interrupt. He liked Leon\'s temperament. He was straightforward.

"How do you keep your faction members loyal, really" Leon leaned forward from his chair and asked.

No oaths were a massive loophole that could be exploited by hundreds of people. In fact, this was a sure way for them to get infiltrated by other organizations that wished to pull them down. However, the faceless mercenary company had been standing for decades now.....there had to be something behind it.

"Hmm," the elder Half-moon took in a deep before uncorking the flask in his hand. Immediately, the air was filled with the smell of rich wine that could only be described as intoxicating.

"Gulp gulp gulp" the elder proceeded to dump the flask down his throated, thereafter, he looked back over at Leon and smiled.

"It\'s a secret, but of course, it\'s an open one. There are no oaths in the faceless mercenary company, but we find ways to hold our members to their words. Sometimes we take something valuable from them when they default, sometimes we use a reward-based system to create loyalty...." The elder Half-moon explained several other methods the faceless mercenary company would use to maintain a certain level of loyalty.

He wanted Leon to know what he was getting into, he didn\'t believe in blind sighting members.

"Of course, this doesn\'t apply to you. Her, maybe, but you\'re but a level 1 mage.....only people with exceptional ability would be sent on missions sensitive enough to need precautions taken against them." Half-moon explained before taking another gulp of wine.

The general missions for faceless mercenary company were lackluster at best. Only by joining a faction would one get good missions, as such they had to classify them. The higher your level, the better the missions available to you."

"So what do you think?" Half-moon looked at Leon with raised eyebrows, he could tell that Leon was the boss here from the way he spoke. Even though this was a strange thing, he could tell this was the case.

"Where do I sign up then?" Leon said with a wide grin behind his mask. He still had some reservations, but was sure that as long as he didn\'t dive too deep into the politics of the company, he would be alright.

"Paper work, yhhhh" the elder Half-moon nodded his head before pulling out a book titled Virtan index.

The Virtan faction. This was one of the powerful factions of the faceless mercenary company.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

"Good, both of you are now officially members of the virtual faction. For the tempering event at the end of the month, we will personally find a good spot for you to attain a higher level of power." The elder Half-moon said casually.

"You\'ll now be attached to a team of which you\'ll get your mission from" while reading the book in front of him, the elder continued. But before he could finish, he was cut off.

"Team?.....no we don\'t need that, we will form our own team" Leon spoke out.

These words caused Half-moon to frown. Joining a team was traditional, Leon seemed to be doing too much at this moment.

"What do you mean?" The elder Half-moon asked.

"I have a level 3 mage by my side, is there really a need to join a preexisting team? It makes more sense to create one by ourselves" Leon explained himself.

His reasoning was sound, with Arian by his side he was basically a waking tank. There really was no need to join another team. He could just stay here and generate funds from missions.

That was his original goal, after all. He needed to firstly replace his daggers and improve his arsenal, but most of all, he needed to get some treasures to help him breakthrough, warlocks weren\'t like mages who could just break through from enlightenment.

They need to actually make physical efforts.

"If you wish, but, I do have a proposal for you…." After a brief moment of contemplating, the elder Half-moon nodded in agreement. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Leon was right, he didn\'t need to join any other team, so he wouldn\'t force him.

"What\'s the proposal?" Leon raised his brow.

"I\'ll give you an A ranked mission, if my daughter can join your team" Half-moon said while staring at Leon intensely.

A ranked missions had massive yield and one could make about 10,000 gold coins from them easily….getting one was hard...
