Chapter 24 Han’s Troubles
Han was one of the \'elite students\' in the academy. The term elite or special students referred to the top twenty five students in the academy ranking. Han was ranked twentieth in the academy.
The elite students in the academy were seen as future power houses of humanity so the academy made sure to provide them with the best equipments and facilities necessary for their growth.
Everything about them was different—and better—from that of normal students, from their dormitory to their uniforms.
There were just twenty five students living in the dormitory, which contributed to the sparse student population in the hallway.
It took Han five years to get to his current mana core stage, and that was mainly because of the support he received from the academy.
In fact, he was very close to breaking through. According to his estimation, his mana core would breakthrough to the third stage in about a month.
However, that couldn\'t happen anymore. He would now have to restart from the scratch!
He had about one year left before graduating from the academy. There was no way he would break through to the second stage within that short amount of time.
\'…I should have handled everything better.\' Han thought.
According to what he was taught by the academy, mana core regression only happened when extreme strain was placed on the mana core.
He hadn\'t expected that to happen to him, he only overloaded the spell a little so his thought process was that the strain on his mana core would be minimal.
Unfortunately, that small extra amount of mana he used to \'boost\' the spell placed a lot more strain on his mana core than he expected.
He noticed this when he was casting the spell, however, he couldn\'t cancel the spell.
Once an elementalist had started chanting a spell, there was no canceling it halfway, doing that could cause damage to the mana veins. The danger only got worse across spell tiers(depending on the amount of mana poured into the spell).
But what he hadn\'t expected was that his mana core would regress.
If word got out that his mana core has regressed, he was completely fucked!
Han had a lot of enemies at the academy, students he bullied and insulted. His family wasn\'t too influential so all he had was talent.
Most students in the academy were stage one elementalists, the only reason he was feared and respected was because he was a stage two Elementalist and also because his ranking was high.
The strength of a tier two spell could be compared to that of ten tier one spells combined together.
Now that his mana core was back to the first stage, he was no different from any regular student in the academy.
Han gnashed his teeth, the fact that he was currently on the same level as a \'regular student\' irked him to the core.
He clenched his fists as his body trembled slightly in anger. \'This… is all because of that trash… Harry. He\'ll pay for this… just let wait for a week.\' Han thought.
He slowly placed his hand on the door knob. \'No one would… find out about this. I would make sure of that.\' Han thought.
Although he said this inwardly, he couldn\'t deny the foreboding feeling in his heart. He knew he couldn\'t hide his mana core regression forever, one day, other elite students would find out about it….
Not just top students but the whole academy would eventually find out about it, as for what he would do when that time came… he didn\'t know…
He dipped his hand into his pockets and brought out a small ball. The ball had a diameter of about seven centimeters with blue lines around it. In the middle was a small red button.
Han\'s gaze lingered on the red button for a few seconds before finally pressing it.
The blue lines glowed brightly as five projections appeared above it.
Han observed all the items in the projections before finally turning off the storage device. Since he had taken all the necessary items from his dorm room, he could now leave academy.
\'One week suspension…\' Han thought with gritted teeth. The more he thought about his current situation, the more furious he got.
He took a deep breath, it was best he left now, spending more time in the academy could increase his punishment.
"Pathetic…" A low voice drifted into his ears. Although the voice wasn\'t loud, Han was able to hear it clearly.
Han\'s brows furrowed slightly, he immediately turned around. His gaze met that of a brown haired student.
The student had similar features to Harry, except his hair was a lighter shade of brown and his facial features were noticeably younger. His outfit was identical to Han\'s, with a top and bottom that were golden in colour, black pockets, and two prominent black lines that extended from the shoulders.
Han\'s brows raised slightly as he stared at the student in front of him. \'Trent?\' He thought in slight surprise.
Trent rested his back on the wall at the other side of the hallway, his gaze dripping with scorn as he looked at Han.
"W-what do you want?" Han asked. From the way Trent was staring at him, it didn\'t seem like he was here to talk.
Out of all the elite students, Trent was the youngest. Just like Han, he also had dual affinity, however what made him stand out was his extremely strong mana core foundation.
Mana core foundation determined how fast an Elementalist would be able to draw mana. The stronger the foundation, the faster it would be to create a mana core, draw mana and also advance between stages.
Due to this, he was able to breakthrough stages faster.
He was ranked tenth in the academy. This was very impressive for someone as young as Han, all top twenty five were at their final years in the academy and were between the ages of 17 to 19, Trent was the only exception. He was only fifteen, yet he had taken a spot among the top ten student.
"To think you lost to that… trash." Trent said. He then released a little mana pressure on Han. "…you don\'t deserve to be here."
Han\'s breath quickened, although the pressure released on him was only a little, it still affected him greatly. He could feel his chest slowly tightening as cold sweat dripped from his back.
He clenched his teeth as he tried to stop his knees from quivering. Unfortunately, he failed as his knees started shaking, he could his knees slowly falling to the ground.
The pressure was worse since he was now a stage one elementalist, coupled with the fact that the mana in his mana core was currently very low. There was no way he could fight against Trent\'s pressure.
"Truly… pathetic…" Trent said. He scoffed as he finally withdrew his pressure.
The moment Trent withdrew his pressure, Han fell to the ground. He panted heavily as sweat dripped heavily from his face.
Trent snorted as he turned around and started leaving.
Han looked at the figure of Trent getting smaller, he gritted his teeth as his body trembled in anger. \'That fucker…!\' He thought.
If his mana core hadn\'t regressed, withstanding Trent\'s pressure would have been very easy. But now, he couldn\'t even bear the slightest pressure from a stage two elementalist. It was very embarrassing… humiliating!
Han clenched his fists as he slowly stood up, he looked around him, hoping no one witnessed the scene that took place few seconds ago.
He couldn\'t help but sigh when he noticed no student saw what happened. He dusted his uniform as he made his way to the dormitory exit.
The closer he got to the exit, the more the realization dawned on him that he was suspended from the academy… for a week and the more his anger towards Harry grew. \'Harry… just wait. Just wait…\' He said inwardly.
