Chapter 77 Earth Against Lightning[1]

The fireball kept going in the same trajectory until it hit the yellow barrier and evaporated as if it never existed.

A slight frown appeared on the girl\'s face when she noticed her earlier attack didn\'t connect, however, she couldn\'t focus on that as the other Elementalist\'s figure was already rapidly closing in on her.

Just then, a small blue ball started forming above the other Elementalist\'s left hand, its shape wasn\'t definite but swayed slightly as if it was slightly affected by the wind.

The girl immediately started fidgeting when she noticed the water ball forming above the boy\'s hand, she still hadn\'t made any progress in casting a counter spell and she slowly got nervous as thoughts of her losing started filling her mind.

"Water Ball!" The boy immediately released the blue ball made purely of water towards the girl.

It flew at a rapid speed as it travelled in the air, its shape and \'edges\' swaying slightly.

Due to the girl\'s increasing nervousness and fidgeting, she wasn\'t able to find the right flow to cast her counter spell and could only watch as the water ball closed in on her.

It hit her stomach with full force, sending her flying to the other end of the stage. She held her stomach tightly as she tried to hold in the huge amount of pain racking through her system.

Since the boy threw from a not-so-far distance, the pain was even worse as the the momentum didn\'t reduce in the slightest.

Unfortunately, she failed to hold it in and finally lost consciousness.

"Edwin wins!" The instructor in charge of the fight announced as he rushed towards the unconscious figure of the girl and force-fed her with a healing pill.

He had a sour expression on his face as he stared at the girl\'s figure. He was a fire hall instructor and the girl was also one of his students.

It wasn\'t that she lost because she wasn\'t talented; she was actually very talented with a high grade fire affinity. Even more than the boy who only had medium grade water affinity and low grade wind affinity.

It was just that she had never been able to regain composure during fights or whenever she encountered a problem and this had prevented her from showing her true potential.

Due to the effects of the pill, her face started regaining its colour, a low cough left her lips as she finally regained consciousness.

Edwin stared at the girl for a few seconds before finally leaving the stage.

Immediately, a loud noise erupted from the students around the stage, the Elementalists from the water hall started bragging to others—mainly the fire Elementalists, about how their hall was had the strongest students.

Since the boy\'s main element was water, all of them subconsciously took the water hall as his main and \'true\' element hall.

Though it was mainly a training, some of the students still saw it as a competition; one to determine the hall with the strongest and most talented students.

The instructors among the murmurings students released their pressure, reminding the Elementalists of their presence and retaining decorum.

Harry squinted his eyes slightly as he stared at the figure of the girl climbing down the stage.

The Elementalists from the fire hall glared at her with scornful eyes that basically screamed: \'You have failed the fire hall.\'

Her hands were clenched tightly into fists as she walked away from the stage.

Even before the instructor announced the winner, it was already obvious that the boy would emerge as the winner.

Harry sighed softly as he placed his attention back on the stage.

To say he was impressed with the last fight would be a lie, while he was quite impressed with the boy\'s ability to remain calm even when faced with a blazing fireball, he didn\'t in the least enjoy the fight.

Not only was it boring as it only three spells were exchanged throughout the duration of the fight but their movements and attacks were also so… slow.

Harry was sure that even if he ran from his current position to the middle of the stage, he would still be able to block or at least dodge the attack.

He knew it wasn\'t really that they were slow; the speed of the water Elementalist was definitely impressive among Elementalists, his stats were just a lot higher than that of theirs.

The fights were organised quite randomly; the instructors would choose two students to duel with each other.

It wasn\'t compulsory though as an Elementalist could opt out of the duel—some of the students in the hall had no interest in fighting and just wanted to enjoy the show put for them by other Elementalists.

The winner would have the choice to challenge any students of his/her choice, however, only a few students holding huge grudges would do that.

Since it would put them at a disadvantage due to the fact that their mana and stamina would be lower than that of their new opponent, no student liked to choose that option.

After the duels were over, the regular training would then begin, the instructors would go over the studies mistakes and guide them on how to make connections.

They would also give them some tips on how to face Elementalists with clashing elements.

Another two set of students were selected by the instructors after a few minutes, one of them was quite tall with dark blonde hair while the other was simply average height with black hair neatly cut at the edges.

The both boys stepped up the stage as they glared daggers as each other.

Harry recognised one of them this time, while he had never seen the Elementalist with a buzz cut, he had seen the blonde haired one in the Lightning hall a few times which meant he was a Lightning Elementalist.

Harry\'s eyes squinted slightly as he stared at them, he wasn\'t just staring though, he was checking their stats with [Probe].

He first scanned the black haired student and to say his stats wasn\'t impressive would be a lie, from his stats, he clearly excelled more in strength and was quite lacking in the aspect of speed.

The agility of the Lightning Elementalist was almost twice more than that of Nash, however, when it came to the other stats, Nash beat him in those aspects.

Immediately the instructor started the match, both students started chanting their spells.

Unfortunately for the blonde haired student, the one with shorter hair completed his spell first.

"Rock Fists!" He shouted as he rushed forward. A thick brown colour rapidly coated his fists. His hands hardened as they underwent a huge change and turned into fists.

The moment he closed in on the blonde haired Elementalist, he hurriedly threw a punch towards his face using his right hand.

Unfortunately for him, the earth element was quite slow as it offered little to no boost in speed, if anything his speed slowed slightly due to the extra weight on his hands.

"Lightning Dash!" Just then the other Elementalist casted his own spell.

Lightning blitzed around his body from head to toe as he took a few steps backwards, by doing this he managed to escape the "Rock Fist" by a hairbreadth.

The Earth Elementalists gritted his teeth as he watched his punch miss his target, he couldn\'t help but curse at the weakness of his skill.

The Lightning Elementalist didn\'t waste anytime as he sidestepped and then quickly moved to the back of the Earth Elementalists.

He pulled his hand backwards and was about to chop the side of the shorter student\'s neck.

Suddenly, the Earth Elementalist turned around and then blocked the chop using his left hand.

While his element was slower, he still had the passive "earth sense". As long as he was on the \'earth\', he would sense any little movements made on the ground around him.

However, his passive ability was still very weak since he was only a stage one Elementalist.

The blonde haired student couldn\'t help but wince when his hand collided with the hard "Rock fist" of the Earth Elementalist. A huge amount of pain shot through his hand making him lose focus for a minute.

That little moment of distraction was all the black haired student needed to successfully land a punch in the face of his opponent.

Crack!

A loud cracking sound rang out as the fist squarely hit the face of the blonde haired student.
