Chapter 68 Will's Return
As Will opened his eyes, his iris changed from the usual blue hue to a shining golden one. Sparks of a similarly golden color streaked across the air around him.
At this moment, Ember lowered the barricade in front of Will. Before the barrier even completely opened, he was already standing outside of it. Neither Fang, Ember, nor the worms noticed his movements. It only seemed that he was on the ground at one moment, then already standing on top of a worm's head an instant later.
*Splat!*
The worm, not even knowing what had hit it, had green blood splashing from all the holes in its head. It immediately fell down and was on the verge of death.
Will didn't even waste a single glance at the dying worm as he quickly moved to his next target. Through his eyes, the flow of energy inside the worms could be grasped in an instant.
Taking advantage of this, he searched for the spot where the most energy gathered and blasted it with the energy of a corresponding frequency. This causes the energy inside the worms to rampage and inflict extremely heavy and instantaneous internal damage.
The method he was using was extremely similar to the curse that Fatima designed. However, Will actually perfected it to the point that there's no more need for a "waiting time."
As soon as the "virus" affects a cluster of energy inside the body, it will cause the energy to run wild, going against its natural flow. As the other energies that also lost their natural flow bumped into each other, they created a resonance that caused all the nearby energies to vibrate in random directions. These random vibrations cause the body to crumple and break, leading to a quick death.
Will was moving with grace and poise. His steps were casual, as if he were just walking around a garden while admiring and touching the flowers around him. However, this casual movement was actually the reason why the others kept losing sight of him.
The brain, even as powerful as it is, has its limits. It determines the amount of information that it processes every single moment. The brain automatically ignores the information it deems useless or irrelevant and processes the ones that would have a greater impact on the body. Without this automatic process, the brain would quickly get overwhelmed, leaving the body unable to respond.
In the span of just 10 seconds, the worms in the immediate surroundings of the barricade fell down while bleeding profusely. Ember and Fang could only watch on with shocked expressions, seeing how their master was basically slaughtering the worms like he was the god of death himself.
A worm tried to attack randomly, trying to hit its opponent that it was unable to perceive. However, while it was rampaging, Will touched the tip of its tail with his index finger. The worm suddenly expanded like a balloon and burst into a fountain of purple flesh and green blood.
Flashes of golden sparks were the only thing that the worms saw before they fell victim to the merciless slaughter. If they had even half the brain power of a human, then they would've retreated by now. However, it was doubtful if this demon even had the capacity to think.
After ten minutes passed, almost half of the swarm was already dead. Will was still spotless, untouched even. No lucky strike managed to hit even the hem of his shirt.
However, his movements were starting to show hesitation and a slight disturbance. His steps were getting heavier and slower. Even his fingers were trembling.
"Ugh!"
The headache that he was suffering from was getting stronger by the minute. Will instinctively felt that if he let himself succumb to this pain, not only he but also Ember and Fang would die. If he doesn't end things quickly, then he fears that the worst will happen.
Since he'd die either way if he failed to eliminate all of the demon ground worms, he decided to take a gamble. Will quickened the circulation of energy within his body. Unlike before, when he did it for the first time while running away from the Void Beast, red marks appeared on top of his skin. The pattern was seemingly random, but it was actually following the veins under his skin.
"Haaah..."
His breath was hot, and he felt that his body was burning. The feeling of having an extreme increase in strength enveloped his mind in euphoria. However, he was literally shaving away at his life just to exert more power.
But as much as it was risky, the benefits were also great. His kinetic vision was enhanced to the limit, enabling him to see even the energy of a single speck of dust. The convoluted path of energy inside the worms was now as simple as looking at a straight thread.
In a single step, Will managed to pass through dozens of worms, exploding them with a single touch. He used the worm's body as a platform to move around in a three-dimensional manner. Not even Fang could predict how Ein would move in the next instant.
However, it was a race against time. Will's eyes were slowly losing sight from overusing his ability. Currently, his vision is already so blurred that he can't even see his own fingers clearly. The energy in his vision was so faint that it was a miracle that he could still hit them accurately.
Will didn't waste a single second. His feet didn't stop as he kept on moving. His fingers, like the sword of a cultivator, moved in all directions with pristine accuracy and unpredictable trajectories. As soon as he saw an opening, he would quickly end a worm's meager life.
Before 15 minutes passed, the last of the demon ground worms fell to the ground. Will let out a long sigh as he instantly deactivated the rapid circulation of his energy. Steam rose from all over his body, his sweat evaporating from the heat of his skin.
Will, with shaking legs, turned around to face Ember and Fang. He then signaled a thumbs-up to the two before falling face-first. Ember and Fang raced to his side, supporting his battered and burning body.
