Chapter 162 Taking Out The Big Guns
"Is it that black tool you're holding?"
In my hands was the gun that was currently modifying its form to transform into the weapon that I needed. However, transforming into that weapon took me three minutes last time. This time, I have the feeling that I can get it in under one minute.
"I need time to prepare the weapon, so please don't forget to protect us until then, Goddess Blanc."
I glanced at her before giving her a cheeky grin. She smiled with a complicated expression, a mix of worry and exasperation, before patting my head gently.
"Of course, child. Just do what you need, and I'll make sure to protect you all."
As she said so, she resumed chasing the demon tamers that kept on circling the barrier like flies. Her attacks became faster but had less power compared to before. She must've decided to prioritize speed over damage, as she couldn't even graze them previously.
I looked up to where God Zeshion was busy fighting. However, I couldn't stare at them for too long. Each of their attacks, despite looking plain to normal eyes, packed enough energy to color my entire field of view with bright colors, hurting my eyes.
However, it looks like God Zeshion was getting pushed around and was unable to fight to the best of his ability.
A few seconds later, a change in the flow of the battle occurred. God Zeshion's sword broke and turned into a fiery tornado burning in white flames. The claw attack that was able to crack Goddess Blanc's barrier with one hit was easily neutralized by the blazing tornado.
Noir quickly retreated, going outside the effective range of the tornado. However, unlike his expectations, God Zeshion aimed the tornado straight toward the flying Succubus Lord.
The tornado approached rapidly, shattering the barrier around the monster like plain glass as it passed through. It engulfed the monster and continued burning for a few seconds, forming something like a small white sun.
However, the blaze quickly faded, revealing an almost unscathed enemy.
"Damn! As expected, that monster's tough!"
I exclaimed reflexively.
Suddenly, a voice echoed inside our heads. I felt like my brain was being stirred by someone, making me feel nauseous.
[Weak child, stop this annoying display and kneel before me.]
As the voice echoed in my mind, someone else's voice was heard speaking inside my head.
[Will, use my Blood Trace quickly!]
The voice was strong and seemingly unbreakable. Without a doubt, it was Brother Mountain who spoke. Following his tip, I quickly tried to awaken his sigil, and with his support, I successfully activated it.
Everyone around me other than the God Tamers, who were only grimacing in pain, was sent kneeling. The golden sigil that floated behind me covered my body in a golden glow, protecting me from the effect of the Succubus Lord's voice.
At that moment, the transformation of the gun finished, eating up exactly a minute of time. What appeared before me was a gigantic mounted weapon. Its platform was about three meters wide and five meters long, with two legs extending another 10 meters as support, spread into a V from the two rear corners of the platform.
On top of the platform was a seat with analog controls, while beside it was a large barrel right in the middle of the platform, about a foot in diameter and as long as ten meters. This weapon is similar to the "Black Dragon", a 240-mm Howitzer M1. However, unlike its Earth counterpart, this one packs more punch.
"Ember, help me load the shells!"
I passed some of the golden light's effects to her, enabling her to move freely for a while.
I sat down on the seat beside the barrel, placing my hands over the now-familiar controls. Although this proximity should be deadly for a normal person, I think I should be fine... Yeah, it should be fine.
I pulled the lever, adjusting the crosshair before my eyes to lock onto the flying Succubus Lord. There's no need to compensate for the bullet drop, as the enemy was flying. After fixing the aim, I waited for Ember to finish loading the first shell.
The 240-mm shell coated with Cursed Ore was difficult to hold given that it was over 100 kg in weight and could curse anyone who came into contact with it.
Ember, however, had a way to circumvent this. She used a few clones to do the loading, making it so she didn't have to touch the shell at all. The four clones were basically Ember herself, so since she was covered in the golden glow of my sigil, they were able to move properly. They moved in sync as they lifted the heavy shell before loading it into the chamber and taking their distance.
"Loading completed!"
When I heard Ember shout this with an excited tone, I quickly pulled the large trigger.
*BOOOOM!*
The artillery fired, releasing the shell that was packed full of all the energy of thousands of the Seimei's tamers. I, who was right beside the barrel, had my ears ringing as my vision spun. I held back the desire to vomit as I kept my sight on the Succubus Lord.
"Impact!"
I confirmed the hit, and the Succubus Lord was covered in a large explosion, releasing a mushroom cloud in the air. The control over the others got released, making Ying Yue and Fina able to stand up properly once more.
"What power!"
Goddess Blanc gasped in awe, watching the explosion that kept on expanding even now. However, to me, who can see energy clearly, I know that the enemy is still alive.
"..."
The cloud of smoke quickly cleared, revealing the monster to everyone around. Although it wasn't dead yet, it had a large hole on its right side, where the liver should be if she were human.
"Ember, load the next shot!"
I quickly shouted as I realized that the Succubus Lord was glaring in my direction. As Ember was already moving before I even commanded her, the next shot was ready in just an instant.
Without waiting for the barrel to cool down, I pulled the trigger again; this time, my vision blacked out for a moment. Other than my eardrums, I think my head was damaged instead, suffering a light concussion.
The Succubus Lord released a loud screech before it raised a concentrated barrier in front, preparing to block the shot. However, right before it hit the barrier, a small hole in space appeared, redirecting the shell to the other hole that was opened a few inches behind the monster's head.
Another loud explosion spread, shaking heaven and earth alike.
