Chapter 216 - 216: 216: I will make those who bullied me suffer terribly.
“So what would you be like then?” Yigol asked.
“Our first meeting… you remember it, don’t you?” Suri queried.
Yigol nodded, “How could I forget that? I was worried you were thinking about ending it all. When I left to deliver a package, you were already on the bridge. I return and you’re still there. I thought you wanted to take your own life.”
“I thought, if I hadn’t met you, then so be it. There are so many people in this world, I can’t possibly save them all. However, once I did meet you, I couldn’t just stand there and let you die. If something happened to you and I hadn’t intervened, I wouldn’t be able to live with myself.”
Back then, even though the System had arranged their meeting, regardless of who he encountered, Yigol would’ve stepped in to help. Helping people is a natural instinct.
“So, even if I were a hideous creature, you’d still save me, right?” Suri asked in a quiet voice.
Recognizing Suri’s insecurity, Yigol reassured her, “Wife, don’t overthink things. You were facing away from me then. I had no idea what you looked like, my first instinct was to ensure you were unharmed. That’s why things unfolded the way they did.”
“Later, once I saw your face, I was dumbstruck. So flabbergasted was I that we ended up getting married.”
“I still remember you asking me whether I wanted your kidney or your heart, so you basically agreed to give any organ I wanted, right?” Suri chuckled.
Looking back on it now, she found Yigol’s reaction utterly hilarious.
Yigol kept nodding, “Yes, yes, yes. I indeed thought that even if you wanted my kidney or heart, I would willingly give them to you. My feelings for you could truly be described as ‘love at first sight’.”
Although this seemed quite sweet at first, Suri felt there was something off about it.
“No way, the more I think about it now, I realize I was overthinking it. I bet you were thinking something like, ‘Let’s see how you enjoy this, then if you really want to remove the kidney, I’ll just catch the thief before the king and take down the entire operation, right?’”
“If you say you weren’t thinking that, I won’t believe you. Like you said at home, I couldn’t beat you. There was no way I could’ve taken your kidney.”
“Husband, you’d be wasting your talent if you didn’t become an actor. You played your part so well then. If I hadn’t discovered how formidable you were later, I never would’ve known how much you were hiding. Therefore, I should be more wary of you from now on. It’s impossible to tell when you’re being sincere or when you’re pretending.” Suri raised her chin defiantly. Yigol inwardly groaned, ‘is she looking for a fight?’
He coughed lightly, “I, wasn’t I just being humble? Anyway, you said you wouldn’t be like I imagined, so how would you be?”
Thinking of his own safety, Yigol quickly changed the subject.
He realized an important truth: never underestimate a woman’s ability to overthink. She could leave you with no place to hide.
If they continued, he was certain he wouldn’t be able to answer Suri’s questions. He was merely a deliveryman back then.
He had no martial arts training; he had no money. Lies are the most fragile things. If he stumbled on any point, who knows what wild thoughts would stir in Suri’s mind and how she would deal with him.
Suri lowered her head, deep in thought, before saying, “D’you remember when my company was facing issues then? I also told you that for women, doing business is harder than for men. Many people gave me a hard time because they harbored ulterior motives. They wanted me to concede, which obviously, I was never going to do. It was because of that that I decided to take a walk and chance upon you.”
“Had I not met you then, my business would’ve probably gone bankrupt. I would never compromise or sell myself short. Afterwards, I could either take some time off before finding a new direction or swiftly move into the next stage. ”
“I told you back then that if we found ourselves incompatible after a month, and decided to divorce, I would give you some money. That would’ve been all the money I had. I’m a woman of my word, I just didn’t anticipate the outcome being what it is.”
“Another possibility is I might’ve discussed what happened with Rachel Turkish. Given her personality, she would’ve made anyone who bullied me pay, dearly. So, even if you weren’t there, I wouldn’t have committed suicide or put myself in danger, because I know kick-boxing. I’m capable of protecting myself. ”
Yigol pretended to be angry, pinching her cheek, “That’s still not good enough. From now on, you’re not allowed to go to such dangerous places. Life is fleeting, once it’s gone, it’s gone. If anything were to happen to you, what would I and our mother do?”
“You’re not allowed to seek out thrill-seeking activities anymore. They’re inherently dangerous. If we ever encounter bad luck and something happens, the consequences would be tragic,” Yigol warned.
She didn’t look at Yigol’s stern face. Thinking of those thrilling games, her self-control faltered and she began excitedly laying out her thoughts.
“For instance, bungee jumping, gliding, etc. Many of these games are fun. In addition, there are professionals on site as well as medical teams. Every aspect is meticulously reviewed by professionals,” she iterated.
“If a place was particularly dangerous, I wouldn’t go play there anyway. You can rest assured…” Before Suri could finish, she looked up and saw Yigol’s unhappy face, her words halted in mid-sentence.
“None of it’s allowed, you can go exercise or something, I don’t object to that. However, things like gliding, bungee-jumping, as long as I’m around, you can forget about them. Otherwise, wait and see how I deal with you,” Yigol said sternly.
This was the first time Suri saw Yigol so serious in front of her. Like a child that had done something wrong, she quickly nodded her agreement, “Alright, alright, I won’t go in the future. Husband, don’t be angry, please.”
Previously, she enjoyed those games because she had no other outlet for her feelings.
Her only friend was Rachel Turkish, and she couldn’t turn to Rachel for every little thing. She had no one at home with whom she could confide, which is why she had to find ways to vent her emotions..
