Chapter 349: 349: Each Take a Step Back
To the side, Suri Drew seemed to have had an epiphany, a light blooming in her eyes as she addressed the rest of the group.
“But there’s something else; something I’d like to really talk about with all of you.”
Once Suri Drew and the others began speaking, everyone started to direct their attention towards her, curious about what she would say next.
Suri’s face turned slightly serious before she began to speak.
“The reason I arranged this job for all of you is because I hoped you’ll be able to save some money. If you ever wish to find work elsewhere, I’m completely supportive of it. There’s simply no need for me to tie you down here.”
It’s been revealed that leaving the company now means that it’s almost impossible to get paid.
Even if one is able to get the money, to carve out a living in the city probably requires some capital.
So, no matter what, they’ll have to find a jumping-off point now, or else they’ll face immense difficulties in the future.
Everyone was taken aback by Suri’s words. Even Yigol Novak was utterly surprised.
He had thought that Suri was simply finding a caretaker for these ladies, to tend to their grandmother’s needs, which was a win-win situation.
But surprisingly, it turned out that Suri had never intended to tie them down here permanently but to let them make their own decisions.
If they choose to leave in the future, that’s perfectly fine. Suri had no intention of stopping them.
At this moment, Yigol couldn’t help but give Suri a thumbs-up, appreciating how thoughtful his wife was, which he hadn’t considered at all.
“My God, honey. You’ve thought about it so thoroughly. I’m so impressed.”
Hearing her husband’s words, Suri Drew curved into a smile, nodding with self-confidence.
“Of course. After all, whose wife am I?”
Seeing the loving interaction between the couple, the other ladies felt genuinely happy.
No matter what, they believed that these two kind-hearted people will only continue to improve in future.
Just then, someone stood up to address Suri and Yigol.
“I know, sis, that you’ve always been considering for us, without thinking of yourself. You supported us with money and effort, even providing a backup plan for us.”
“But, however it is, we need to repay your kindness properly. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to live in peace.”
After this person spoke, the others also nodded in agreement. They all deeply agreed.
“That’s right, sis. You two have done so much for us, and we want to do something for you.”
“Moreover, such an opportunity is hard to come by for us; there’s really no need to pay us.”
“That’s right, big brother and sister, we see all this as a return of goodwill. You provided both food and accommodation, which is more than enough already. We can use this opportunity to look for some jobs elsewhere.”
For them, returning goodwill is the most important thing.
After all, they had received so much kindness and, if they just kept taking without giving anything in return, they would definitely feel guilty.
Seeing their reaction, both Suri and Yigol were deeply touched.
If it were anyone else, they might regard them as cash cows, continuously exploiting them for value and benefits.
But those they encountered were entirely different.
Be it the pitiful old ladies before or the unfortunate ladies now.
Although they had given so much, these individuals were genuinely grateful, which truly justified their actions.
Since they had chosen to voice their feelings, Suri felt there was nothing left to say.
Moreover, if they genuinely decided to go ahead with their plan, perhaps their guilt would decrease somewhat.
After careful consideration, Suri nodded to them before addressing them.
“Okay, okay. We know you’re thinking of us, too. However, there’s no need.”
“But I know if I don’t agree with this, you might feel guilty about it. So what do you say we meet in the middle?”
Upon hearing this, everyone became curious as to what ‘compromise’ she had in mind.
And so, they turned their attention to Suri, curious about what she was going to say next.
Suri smiled lightly, then earnestly started to explain.
“I know the reason you’re doing this is just because you hope we can accept your goodwill. But, no matter what, if you really want to make a living in the city, it’s not exactly easy.”
Off to the side, Yigol nodded solemnly, too. He had fought his way up alone in the past, so how could he not understand the importance of money?
No matter how tough it gets, he’s a man who can endure hardship.
But these girls are different. If they encounter any mishap, it’s tough for them to fend for themselves.
Therefore, finding a good job and managing to survive here isn’t simple at all.
Regardless, they hoped that the girls could prosper. After all their efforts to rescue these girls, they didn’t want them to fall back into darkness again.
So, Yigol immediately nodded and added,
“That’s right, kids. It’s not as easy as you think. We’re merely lending a helping hand; there’s no need for you to be excessively grateful.”
“As long as you’re okay, that’s all that matters.”
