Chapter 412: 412: His Sister
Chapter 412: 412: His Sister
They wanted to say something, but the words died on their lips. They didn’t know what to say in such a situation.
The few of them exchanged glances, seemingly conceiving a certain possibility in their minds.
However, they were not likely to voice it out directly at this moment.
After all, in such a situation, they should first listen to what the person had to say.
The man’s mouth twitched up in a wry smile. The owner shook his head gently, then began to speak.
“If it were possible, I too wouldn’t wish for things to happen this way, but it’s already happened. There’s not much I can do.”
His eyes seemed to be stained with hints of bloodshot.
He had never dreamt that his aspiration would turn out like this. He’d finally found his sister, yet all of this had happened.
Although they generally knew what the issue was, they still had some lack of understanding. After careful contemplation, Suri Drew finally asked.
“What exactly happened to your sister? Why did you come to such a place to find her?”
Upon hearing this, the man finally looked at them. He appeared somewhat hesitant.
After some time, he finally spoke.
“Actually, there’s no harm in telling you all…”
After all, these people had saved his life. If it weren’t for them, he might have died long ago.
So, he would never betray their trust, no matter what.
If he could gain their trust by speaking, it would undoubtedly be a good thing. He wouldn’t give up easily in such a situation.
So at that moment, he began to speak.
“Actually, the only people in my family are my sister and I, and our parents.”
Upon hearing this, the three listeners perked up their ears.
Perhaps they had grown accustomed to the room’s foul smell after being in it for too long, having almost completely forgotten it.
When they first entered, it was utterly unbearable.
But there wasn’t much they could do about it now.
Then, the man continued his story.
“Actually, I’ve always known since childhood that my parents favor me more, but there was nothing I could do. I wasn’t capable of earning money at that time.”
It seemed like classic favoring of boys over girls.
However, this was a common storyline. Many people preferred boys and disliked girls.
Thus, they found it quite normal, but their hearts ached for the girls.
When they first met those young ladies, they noticed that many of their families also favored boys over girls. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be in such dire situations.
Perhaps Suri had thought of this, and a look of discomfort appeared on her face.
Yigol Novak, standing beside her, noticed her discomfort immediately.
Having been together with his wife for so long, how could he not know what she was thinking at this moment?
So, he understood that she was probably thinking about the young ladies they had once helped, which caused her sudden change in mood. He immediately pulled his wife into his arms and said gently.
“It’s okay, honey.”
Suri felt much better after being embraced warmly, not appearing as distraught as before
The man then continued his story.
“But do you know what? After I started high school, I didn’t continue my studies. I dropped out and worked outside, trying to earn more money for my sister’s education.”
“I thought all the money I gave them was for my sister’s schooling. But when I finally went home, I discovered my sister wasn’t at home anymore.”
As he spoke, tears slid down his face, leaving wet trails. He was in utter torment, having not expected things to turn out this way. If he’d known earlier, he would have returned to prevent it all.
So, thinking back on it all, he was filled with regret. He raised his hand and repeatedly punched the wall next to him.
“I never expected my parents to do such a thing. They saved all the money I gave them and used it to buy a house. They justified it by saying it was preparation for my marriage. Moreover, they sent my sister away!”
When he earned that money, he hadn’t intended for it to be used this way. Nonetheless, his father had decided for him, causing great resentment in his heart.
Upon hearing this, everyone had a general understanding of what had transpired.
Truthfully, they were rather surprised, entirely unexpected of this turn of events.
Usually, kids growing up in such families wouldn’t go to such extremes for their sisters.
However, it seemed indeed true that everyone was different.
No matter how dire the circumstances, he knew in his heart what was right and wrong, and what should be done.
The man standing in front of them was a living example of it.
So, when Suri heard his words, she was overjoyed. She turned towards him, gave a thumbs-up, and said.
“But doing so much for your sister, it’s already quite admirable.”
“If she knew what you did for her, regardless of the circumstances, she would definitely be happy in her heart and wouldn’t blame you.”
Although Suri was saying this, the man looked overwhelmingly gloomy.
He just kept shaking his head. Finally, he managed to utter through gritted teeth.
“I wish that’s true, but I have no idea where she is now.”
