Chapter 139
She didn’t notice that Xie Xinglin’s originally unpleasant expression became even more gloomy because of her actions. He held his chin, raised his eyelashes slightly, and expressionlessly stared at the bottle of pink fruit wine on his table. It was as if he was about to pierce holes into the bottle with his gaze. Then he slowly swept his line of sight to Su Qiuge who was taking a small sip, he lightly said, “You still dare to drink wine?”
Su Qiuge’s actions paused slightly and she looked at him in confusion. Then she saw Xie Xinglin supporting his head and staring straight at her. It was unknown what he thought of, but he sneered and quietly said, “Do you want to perform at school?”
Su Qiuge’s movement stopped. Because of what he said, she suddenly remembered the drinking incident that happened a while back.
Ever since the time Xie Xinglin mentioned it at her house during their tutoring session, Su Qiuge had gradually recalled the details of that night even though she subconsciously did not want to remember what happened at all. Every time she recalled something, she didn’t dare to continue to remember.
She even remembered that she had taken off her jacket at one point and confidently said to Xie Xinglin, “Then, do you want to trick me into doing it one more time? Reconsider abandoning me after using me?”
She couldn’t remember how Xie Xinglin reacted at the time, but she felt that Xie Xinglin probably looked at her as if she was an idiot.
Every time she thought about the incident, her toes would curl in embarrassment and she would have difficulty breathing to the point she almost directly dialed 120.
**t/n: 120 is the Chinese number for emergency ambulance services
Xie Xinglin caught a glimpse of her increasingly ugly face, and with a sneer in his eyes, he said, neither too fast nor too slow, “But that person probably quite likes your habit of drunkenly throwing yourself into other people’s arms. It’s exactly what he wants.”
Su Qiuge was still completely immersed in her own embarrassment that she didn’t notice what Xie Xinglin said.
She was unwilling to mention that incident again and could only say in a low and aggrieved voice, “Don’t drink it if you don’t want to, is it fun to turn over old accounts like this?”
After she spoke, she picked up a ball of paper scraps from her desk and other pieces of paper that needed to be thrown away. Then she walked towards the back door and took advantage of having to throw away trash to walk very slowly.
When she left the classroom, she encountered Han Ming who was hibernating by the door. Han Ming had already observed them for a long time, but when he noticed her come out, he pretended to have just arrived and asked, “I just got here and was going to look for Brother Xing. But what’s wrong, did you and Brother Xing fight?”
Su Qiuge was actually quite bewildered and since she encountered someone she could share her doubts with, she directly asked Han Ming, “What’s going on with Xie Xinglin these days? If I didn’t know he was a male, I would’ve thought he was on his period.”
Han Ming pulled the corners of his mouth and smiled. He thought to himself that based on Su Qiuge’s level, Xie Xinglin had kicked over the iron plate this time.
**t/n: kick over the iron plate - to suffer a loss after underestimating someone/something
But for some reason, Han Ming felt like gloating.
He thought for a moment and then said to Su Qiuge, “Brother Xing, this person, is just weird like this. He won’t directly tell you if something’s going on, but will instead be super awkward about it. It’ll be fine once you get used to it.”
“And have you ever thought that he might not be in a bad mood, but is just……”
Drinking vinegar.
**t/n: jealous
Han Ming didn’t say these two words out loud.
Su Qiuge was somewhat puzzled, “Just what?”
Han Ming thought for a moment before deciding to not say anything about it. After all, he still wasn’t completely clear on what sort of intentions Xie Xinglin had towards her, and in case he messed up and scared the person away, Xie Xinglin would definitely come to settle accounts with him.
Then he said with no fear, “A man will have a few days like that every month, maybe he’s whining about some imaginary illness.”
After he spoke, Han Ming waved his hand and said, “Since he’s in a bad mood, I won’t go looking for him. You take care of yourself as well, Xiao Su.”
After Su Qiuge said goodbye to Han Ming, she strolled around outside for a while before returning. When she got back, Xie Xinglin was still maintaining the original action of answering questions. Su Qiuge didn’t speak to him either.
Xie Xinglin did not come back during the lunch break and was even late for the first class in the afternoon.
The first class in the afternoon happened to be Zhao Minghua’s class, so Xie Xinglin, who was late, had to go retrieve additional homework.
Su Qiuge was originally still uncomfortable because of what he said that morning, but when she saw how he needed to collect additional assignments, she wanted to laugh.
